God.God.God.God.

When infants are baptized, parents, with the help of the godparents, assume responsibility for raising the child as a follower of Jesus. The process of maturation in the faith is

much like the example found in the story of the man born blind. The man is cured of his blindness, a symbol of his sin. Each time he meets someone after the healing, the man comes to a deeper awareness of who Jesus is. In a similar way, we who are baptized continue to mature in faith as our relationship with and

knowledge about Jesus grows.

Lent IV– Hope We hope we will have enough money or time to get “things done.” We hope we will be thin enough or smart enough for whatever comes next. We hope our bodies will not fail

us. We hope our children will succeed. We hope the Pirates will win this year (at least once).

We hope. We hope. We hope. When we think of Hope like this we are actually confusing hoping with wishing, and that is easy to do. But in the Bible, Hope is something different. Hope is more than wishing because Hope is not looking for something from the outside, expecting it to fill a hole inside of us. Unlike a wish, Hope is not hungry. Hope is the gift of a different attitude and it demands that we show up, stay present,

and almost keep a vigil for whatever lies ahead. Hope calls us, like a sergeant calls a soldier to be present and to

stand alert. Hope, if you will, needs us. It needs our eyes, our ears, and our hearts in order for all that God has to give us. When we Hope for something we are committing to it. Hope does not require that we know the answers to how, when or where, but it does require our participation. Hope requires our faith and active trust in a God who

promises that nothing, not even death can keep us from the love of God. Hope says, “Do Not Be Afraid: I AM With

you.”

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ! By His great mercy he has given us a Christ! By His great mercy he has given us a Christ! By His great mercy he has given us a Christ! By His great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the new birth into a living hope through the new birth into a living hope through the new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead.resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead.resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead.resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead.

Holy Thursday Foot Washing Ceremony

Sign-up

Volunteers are needed for our Holy

Thursday Mass of the Lords Supper

Celebration on Apr il 14 at 7:00 PM. During this Mass there is the washing of the feet ceremony after the homily to remember the example of service Jesus gave to his disciples. We need 12 people of different ages (preferably 3 male and 3 female from both parishes) who have not done this the last couple of years to volunteer. Two or three members of a family may volunteer and will be seated together. You will be seated in the pews and will not need to go up to the front of the church. If

you are willing to be a part of this beautiful ceremony,

please call the parish office at 724-763-9141 to volunteer.

Father, help me to see this holy season of Lent as a time of spiritual renewal, rather than a time of deprivation. Motivate me to reach a

new level of experiencing your grace.
