    O Jerusalem, glorify the Lord,

who gives you your fill of finest wheat.

Years ago, most families had only one or two clocks in their home. Today, we have clocks everywhere—on our walls, on our microwave ovens, on our DVD players, on our cell phones, and so on. As a family, go through the house and count how many clocks (time-telling devices) your family has. Talk about important events for which

family members need to be on time. Recall experiences of being late for something, either as individuals or as a family. Jesus talks about how important it is for us to be

aware and alert, otherwise, we will miss something.

    PROMISE TO PROTECT

If you have any suspicion about the sexual abuse (or any other type of abuse) of a minor child by anyone —please contact PA Childline immediately at 1-800-932-0313. If the alleged abuser is functioning in a parish, school or diocesan position as clergy, religious, paid

staff or volunteer you are also requested to contact the Bishop’s Delegate for Matters of Sexual

conduct after you have called the Childline number and made the report. The Bishop’s Delegate may be reached

    at 724-837-0901, Ext. 1221.

    Clearances Help

Do you need your clearances to serve or volunteer at either parish? Would you like to have help completing your clearances? The Festival Committee will hold two sessions at the church office in August where parishioners from both parishes can have help obtaining their clearances. The first session on Monday, August 15th from 6:00 – 8:30 PM will consist of: VIRTUS Training, PA Criminal History Check

Form, and PA Child Abuse Form. The second session on Monday, August 22nd from 6:00 – 9:00 PM will consist

of PA Mandated Reporter Training and the Diocesan Code of Conduct. The Festival Committee’s hope is that these

sessions will make it easier for you to obtain your clearances. All festival volunteers will have to have their

clearances, so please consider joining us for the sessions and becoming a festival volunteer. If interested in signing up for the sessions please call either Malinda Krchnak at 724-295-2157 or the Church Office at 724-763-9141.

    Prayer Shawl Ministry

The prayer shawl ministry will meet Thursday, August 11 at 7:00 PM in the parish office. All are welcome.

The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Next Monday, August 15th we will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Mass will be celebrated at Christ, Prince of Peace Church at 8:00 AM and at

St. Lawrence Church at 7:00 PM. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her earthly life is a defined dogma of the Catholic Church. On November 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII,

exercising papal infallibility, declared in Munificentissimus Deus that it is a dogma of the Church "that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory." As a dogma, the Assumption is a required belief of all Catholics; anyone who publicly dissents from the dogma, Pope Pius declared, "has fallen away completely from the divine and

    Catholic Faith."

Bible Study Every Wednesday at 6:30 PM in the Parish Office until the end of August there is a DVD series by

Bishop Robert Barron on Catholicism being shown. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Picnic Invitation The Knights of Columbus Council #110 and the Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Patricia # 998 are having their 3rd joint family picnic on
