Family Affair at

Blainscough Installation

The brethren and of Blainscough Lodge No

8532 gathered at Chorley Masonic Hall to

witness the installation of Bro Chris Jones.

Having opened the lodge, the Worshipful

Master, Paul Bennet welcomed Ian Jones

as a joining member of Blainscough

Lodge. This made the ensuing installation

a truly ‘family affair’ as Paul is the father

of the master elect, Chris Jones. Carrying on the ‘theme’ of a ‘family affair’, Ian took

his place in the lodge next to Joe Brennan,

the father-in-law of the master elect, a

Scottish mason visiting to witness the

installation.

Well Done Anthony

Price

Congratulations to W/Bro Anthony Price of

Blainscough Lodge 8532 who has been

appointed as the Administration and PR

officer on the care team.

Don’t forget

The Chorley and District Group

Masters’ and First Principals’

Festival is to be held at Chorley

Masonic Hall, Cunliffe Street

Chorley on Friday 13th April

2018.

Theatre seats sold

The Hall was offered, some time ago, a

number of theatre seats, surplus to

requirements from the Chorley Little

Theatre.

Having to act very quickly, the kind offer

was accepted and the chairs took up

temporary accommodation in the

Boardroom. It then transpired that they are not suitable for installation in our lodge

room and a decision was made to dispose

of them.

W. Bro Andy McMath of Astley and

Ellesmere Lodge offered to help and found

a buyer. His actions have resulted in us

obtaining £1060 from the purchaser for

the Building Fund.

Not being satisfied with selling the seats,

It is reported that he worked ‘like a trojan’ in assisting in to remove them from the

boardroom into the vehicle of the

purchaser.

All the users of the Chorley Masonic Hall

owe him a debt of gratitude. Thanks Andy!

Chorley Lodge Ladies Evening

Bernadette and Stuart Catterall welcomed

over a hundred friends to their Ladies

Night held at the Chorley Masonic Hall. Stuart is master of Chorley Lodge No 6287

but the night belonged to Bernadette.

Iain Simpson sang the ladies song which

he followed with the roses song. A rose is

always a very much appreciated token of

friendship.

The DJ, CJ Stewart, went down a storm.

He introduced for one night only the most

outrageous ABBA tribute band on the planet. Peter Horgan, Eric Kos, Phil and

Tom Richardson took the stage for a

spectacular display. Decorum was

restored when Janet Horgan entertained

everyone with songs from Cabaret.

St Georges Lodge Ladies Evening

Thanks to Ray Thain who has sent us some

photographs of Iain Wilson and his good

lady Jayne who hosted their Ladies

evening.

He tells us :-

‘We had a good turn out of 45 people in

total. A couple came from as far away as

Grimsby. Yes they know “Kevin” as their

son was in the same class!!

‘We dined on a fabulous four course meal,

complimented with wine on each table.

‘Dr Jayne Wilson presented the Ladies with

gifts and yellow roses of friendship.

‘We were entertained during the meal by

a local young singer called Tabitha Belle

who also got the Ladies in the mood to

dance after the meal.

‘Further entertainment was a disco with

music from 50’s through to more recent

times.

‘A fabulous time was had by all and the

Worshipful Master thanked all who

attended and hoped that they would take some fond memories with them.’

New Bar has arrived!!!

Not quite flat pack,

but nearly

Following the refurbishment of

Westhoughton Masonic Hall, we have been

lucky to acquire their old one to replace

our upstairs Bar.

The Hall Diary will take some scrutiny to

find a window of opportunity to take out

the old and fit the new!! If you have any

skills that might help us with this job, please let Peter Horgan know by ringing
