exited • Utilization of low-grade ores is not

sustainable • Many mid-/large-sized mines are

entering the ore depletion phase

• Lack of new sizable mines and resources. The replacement resources are scarce.

Fluorspar Production: Current Status 萤石生产:现状

• Number of fluorspar mines: 251 by end 2018, down from 1,200+ in end 2013 *

• All of the fluorspar productions are shut down in Xinyang, Henan (200,000MT capacity), Guangde, Anhui (300,000MT), and Qilianshan, Gansu (350,000MT)

• Some mines have expanded capacity as stimulated by the high prices, which accelerates the consumption of the resources

• The limited low-grade resources including tailings could be utilized

• Some new resources are discovered in the southwest and northwest regions. The production and transportation costs would be high.

• From net exporter to net importer 国

• Fluorspar export peaked in 1008 exceeding 1.3 million tons

Observation and Outlook 观察与预测

• The capacity utilization of Chinese fluorspar production has peaked. The historical record of the annual production of over 6 million tons should account for 70% or higher of the world production.

• The resource depletion is critical. Most of the mines developed in 1980s and 1990s dominating the current fluorspar supply are facing the threat of ore depletion. Under the combined pressure of policy factors and resource depletion, the fluorspar production is expected to enter a downward spiral, with a significant decline in three to five years.

• 中国萤石产能利用率达到历史高点,年产量达到600万吨以上的历史最高位,占世界萤石产量70%以上

• 资源枯竭的形势严峻。尤其是建于八九十年代的矿山,作为现在萤石供应的主力军,大部分面临资源枯竭的威胁。在政策因素及资源枯竭双重夹击下,预计未来产量会进入下降通道,且三至五年后会有大幅下降。

Observation and Outlook 观察与预测

• Strong fluorite prices highlight the supply constraints in the markets where the prices of the downstream products have fallen sharply

• The impact of China to the world fluorspar industry has changed from the major fluorspar exporter and downstream fluorochemicals import-dependent to the exporter of the downstream fluorochemicals and the importer of fluorspar.

• China's demand for fluorine resources is at an all-time high and will continue to grow

• China's demand for fluorspar in the international market would gradually increase

• 在下游产品大幅跌价的市场中,坚挺的萤石价格凸显了供应紧张

• 中国对世界萤石产业的影响已经从过去的萤石主要出口国和氟下游产品主要依靠进口转变为氟下游产品的出口国和萤石进口国

• 中国对氟资源的需求量处于历史高位,并将继续增长

• 中国对国际市场的萤石需求将逐步增加
