introduCtionChinese corporations are rapidly globalising and increasing their reach into overseas markets.

China overtook Japan and Britain in 2010 to become the fifth largest investor in the world and, despite the global slowdown, the level of investment is increasing. China is also at the forefront of global technological innovation – now second only to the United states in r&d spending.

developing an effective global ip strategy is fast becoming one of highest priorities for Chinese companies, but many are hesitant to tackle foreign ip issues due to a lack of market information and experience, or poor links with international counsel.

managing ip is dedicated to bridging this knowledge gap through its Chinese language website and the publication of its Chinese language edition. this is dedicated to covering the latest international issues for the Chinese business ip community.

formatmanaging ip’s Chinese edition was launched in march 2008.

Coverage is focused on international ip issues specifically for the domestic Chinese market. it comprises translations of the best features and news analysis from managing ip’s publications as well as original news and features written by our China editorial team. the design mirrors managing ip’s english language edition as a high-quality, full colour international-standard magazine.

in december 2011 managing ip launched its Chinese website (www.managingip.cn) and email newsletter for our audience of domestic companies looking to find out more about global ip issues. Like www.managingip.com, the Chinese website contains sections dedicated to key international topics such as patents, trade marks and itC work and has updated analysis from managing ip’s editorial team as well as sponsor firms.

managing ip works closely with major local associations to maximise the distribution and ensure the publication reaches the right people in the right companies and firms. distribution partners include: patent protection association of China, China intellectual property society, China ip news (sipo’s publishing house), China technology exchange and shenzhen ip salon.

magazineover 2,000 hard copies of the managing ip Chinese edition are distributed to individuals within China free of charge each quarter – in march, June, september, and december.
