DESCRIPTION

“Art is not what you see but what you make others see” - Edgar Degas Chimera wants to thank everyone who participated in the making of this issue. The Houston art community is a supportive network of creative souls. Thanks for everything you share with us. We would like to extend an invitation to anyone else wanting to showcase their work. Reach us at [email protected] We have the pleasure of showcasing a variety of unique individuals. Their images are dream-like and yet find a way to incorporate carefully rendered formal techniques. In fact, many of the drawings, paintings and photographs would fit under the surrealist umbrella. The artists presented use a variety of diffent media, but they all have something in common: interpretation is left to the viewer. We now present the third publication of Chimera Magazine to all those who live for art as much as we do. Enjoy the show.

Adrienne grew up in the East Texas Woods and currently lives and works in Houston. Natural elements appear in her drawings and paintings that show the subtle influences of her environment. Some of her work is inspired by mythology and anthropology.

This will be her last year in the BFA program in Photography/Digital Media at the University of Houston. She is specializing in a conceptual studio program that requires her to undertake more academically and conceptually structured projects.

Adrienne has been an associate editor for The Aletheia, a small publication for U of H undergrads, for about three years now. She also recently joined the team at Glass Mountain Magazine as their visual arts editor.

“I think art is one of those things that never stops, it’s always marinating. Outside, or along with, the visual arts I enjoy writing, reading, and getting involved with arts-based projects.” Adrienne says.
