Highlighting Students’

Work

It’s Cool to have Character!

For the Month of September, students and staff at Brandon Gate focused on

Punctuality and Preparedness. Punctuality means to be consistently on time.

Preparedness means to arrive to school with all materials to be successful (e.g.,

lunches/snacks, agenda, homework completed, pencils, pencil crayons etc.)

In October, our students will be focussing on Respect. Respect means to show consideration and appreciation

for both yourself and others.

The staff recognized the following students who consistently demonstrated Punctuality and Preparedness:

Work from Class 1B...

The Fish and the Shark

Once there was a little fishy called Rosie. He grew big and

started hunting for his food. He saw a shark, it

was a big giant shark! Rosie ran away from the big,

gaiant shark. The fishy said, “don’t eat me!” Then

the shark was very nice to him and they lived hap-

pily ever after. By Makayla

The Big Adventure

There was a ship on the water and then they saw

land. They saw a volcano and it erupted! The adven-

turers ran and ran. They ran to fairyland and they

saw mermaids, there saw magic . In the end the

saw Captain Underpants! By Gurshan

Report student

absences through new SafeArrival system

In all Peel schools, all parents/guardians need to

report their children’s full-day absences, late arrivals

and/or early departures from school via:

our automated SafeArrival phone number at

1-855-209-6155...parents must call before

8:45 a.m. to report an absence. Listen

carefully to the phone prompts and follow the

instructions

online at pdsb.schoolconnects.com; or

by downloading the SafeArrival app for Apple

and Android devices.

Student absences will no longer be reported by calling the school number directly.

Tips for Being a Smart

Trick-or-Treater

Wear a properly fitted costume that is

bright and non-flammable. Use reflective tape on your

costume so you can be seen in the dark.

Use face makeup or enlarge the eyes on your mask so you

can see well. When wearing a mask, push it up on your head

while walking.

Teach children to visit the front door of well-lit homes

and never go inside.

Help your child plan a route and a time to be home.

Remind children to always walk on the sidewalk, and obey

traffic and pedestrian signals.

Have an adult check treats at home before

allowing children to eat them. HAVE FUN!

Now It’s Your Turn: At Brandon Gate School, we are always interested in feedback from the community. You are invited to return this portion

of the newsletter with your comments whether they be expressions of praise or suggestions for improvement. Each month

we will do a random draw to award small prizes to a few of those who have returned this form.
