By Grace are ye saved through faith (Eph. 2:8)

WOW, that is all I can say right now. November flew by and December is but a memory. Hopefully your Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays were filled with family, friends, and good memories. I have said it before and I will say it again that the Advent season is one of the busiest times of year for any clergy person and just imagine what it is like for a student and a pastor. It has been very busy and Christmas Eve was different for us because it was the first year that I preached twice in one night. If you were able to attend I hope my message "Do Not Be Afraid" resonated with you and helped to inspire you. If you were not here with us Christmas Eve, I pray that you were with family and/or friends celebrating the birth of the baby Jesus. We get so wrapped up in the holiday sea-son that sometimes we forget to take a moment and reflect on how our lives have been changed.

This year I am starting a new tradition when it comes to the newsletter article. Beth put a new desk calendar in my stocking this year. Instead of my traditional Dilbert calen-dar she gave me John Wesley's words and wisdom calendar. So our scripture focus each month will be the scripture from the first day of the month. January's scripture comes from John Wesley's sermon on "Salvation by Faith". This is a great reminder for us to re-visit the scriptures and see how they still speak to us yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I pray that everyone has a great 2016 and as we hit the ground running in January prepar-ing for our 70th annual Chicken Noodle Dinner, I encourage you to pay attention to our church calendar, be ready to help in any way possible, and let's make this the biggest and best Chicken Noodle dinner yet. Both Beth and I wish you a Wonderful 2016 and we ask that you continue to keep us in prayer as we start the last semester of my seminary journey. May God bless and keep each and every one of you.

Grace and Peace, Pastor Jeff & Beth

Just want to let you know about another way to support St. Paul's Ministries. Amazon has a pro-gram called Amazon Smile where they will donate .5% of all purchases made through Amazon Smile to charitable organizations. St. Paul's Wichita is now one of those organizations.

If you already use the program we would ask you to consider changing your organization to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Wichita, KS. If you are new to the program please go to www.smile.amazon.com/ch/48-05477041 and start shopping. One last thing if you have not set-up Amazon Smile as a bookmark in your browser please do so. That will make it even easier for you to support St. Paul's Wichita.

I really appreciate all the help and support of my church friends in the last few months since I took a tumble or two. Prayers, rides, calls, vis-its, cards and just knowing you are there, gives me all kinds of support and motivation. May this be a Happy and Healthy New Year for us all!

Dolores Kinkead

To all the wonderful members of St. Paul’s,

Words cannot express my gratitude towards everyone in the church who has supported and helped me grow through-out the years. I am forever

thankful for all you’ve done.

Thank you with love, Mary Nguyen

St. Paul’s

Thank you all so very much for always thinking of us. We love and miss you all. Thank you for your continued prayers especially for Logan. God’s Blessings.

Love, David, Monica, Logan & Tyler Nienstedt

A big thank you to everyone that helped make St. Paul’s Children’s Christmas Program a success. Thank you to par-ents, grandparents and great-grand parents for so faithfully bringing kids to rehearsals.

Lots of hard work went into acquiring props, making cos-tumes, and learning parts and songs. It is our hope that all the children who participated were truly blessed by their ex-perience.

Thank you to all of you who participated in the Dillons Commu-nity Reward program during 2015. This year to date we have re-ceived $730 in Dillons rewards. Unfortunately you have to re-enroll in the program each year, so this is a reminder that you will need to re-enroll in the program after January 1, 2016. You will need to sign into your account and designate St. Paul’s (#10440) as the or-ganization to receive benefits from your purchases in 2016. If you need help, please contact the church office.

The St. Paul’s congregation extends their prayers and sympathy to the family and friends of member, Mildred Harris, who passed away on Friday, December 18, 2016.

Tickets are now available for purchase for this beautiful 86” x 89” ma-chined pieced and hand quilted quilt. It was made by the St. Paul’s Women’s Quilting Group that meet at St. Paul’s every Tuesday at 6 pm.

Cost is $1 for each ticket or $5 for 6. The drawing for the quilt will be at St. Paul’s 70th Annual Chicken Noodle Dinner on Saturday, January 23, 2016

Mary Handkins would like to thank everyone who have dontibut-ed to the card ministry this past year in the way of cards and post-age. She is asking for your help in donation of pre-stamped post cards and stamps. Donations of cards, stamps or cash for this very important ministry can be made through the church office.

Homebound Neighbors May Need Your Help in Winter Cold, snow are especially isolating for the elderly or disabled, expert says

If you have neighbors who can't get out of their home in winter, there are ways you can help them, an expert says.

"Winter is isolating for all of us, but when severe weather hits, the chronically ill or elderly suffer the most. Many people live alone and may be too proud to ask neighbors for help," said Debbie Jansky, assistant manager of home health and hospice at Loyola Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Illinois.

There are ways you can help:

Exchange phone neighbors, and make sure the person has your number on speed dial and that the phone is within reach.

Set a regular time for you to visit to have a quick chat and to check that your neighbor's heat and water are running, Jansky suggested.

Because homebound people don't get to be with others often, they will enjoy longer visits, too.

Other things you can do to help home-bound neighbors include shoveling their walk, taking in their newspapers or mail, bringing them food, getting groceries or doing other

errands, Jansky said. (HealthDay News)

Happy New Year!

We continue to collect school supplies, uniforms, and food items for Irving Elementary School. As the weather continues to get colder, they have ex-pressed a need for gently used coats (children size 6 to 12), stocking caps and gloves. This is a year round mission of St. Paul’s. Thank you to the con-gregation for your continued support.

Irving Elementary School

Spiritual Nur turing The committee met on December 14, with 7 members present. Items of discussion:

Nancy reported that Lise Hanson, social director from Irving school, had come and col-lected items that had been donated. Coats, hats and gloves are needed in children siz-es 6 to 12. Operation “School Bell” will no longer be able to help with school supplies, uniforms or warm clothing after December 31 so Irving will be relying heavily on St. Paul’s for those items.

There was continued talk and planning of beginning a Children’s evening program. Tar-get date is sometime during February. Volunteers are needed for helping with the pro-gram. If you are interested, please talk with Nancy Nguyen or call the church office.

There will be a Children’s Christmas program on December 20 during the morning wor-ship service. Rehearsal will be on Sunday morning at 9:15 am led by Sharon Lamson.

Melodears will be performing their Christmas music program at St. Paul’s on Friday, De-cember 18.

Please remember—we are here to Teach, Share, and Witness the love of Jesus Christ.
