TPAN’s Ride for Life Chicago is the re-envisioned, unique fundraising and cycling
event to support the lifesaving work of TPAN and its community partners. For more than 15 years, the Ride has been a critical engine of support for our delivery of health care and services for people affected by HIV/AIDS and related health challenges. In that time, the Ride has delivered care to tens of thousands of individuals and had a profound impact. The Ride brings together thousands of donors and hundreds of volunteers, cyclists, and advocates to ensure that nearly 2,000 people per year have access to TPAN's care and services at no cost. Through participants' commitment to cycle 100-200 miles over 2 days, our volunteers share their stories of triumph over HIV, their commitment to end AIDS, and of TPAN’s success in providing expert, compassionate health services to individuals and families across Chicago.

TPAN’s Ride for Life Chicago is the re-imagined and re-named Ride for AIDS Chicago, an event with a rich history of driving HIV-focused care and services for TPAN and our community partners. This year, the Ride reflects our broad community of committed donors, volunteers, and advocates as well as the expansive nature of TPAN’s mission – one focused on all people affected by HIV/AIDS and all aspects of health and well-being. Sponsorship of the Ride for Life demonstrates powerful leadership in the LGBT and HIV-affected communities we engage year round.

Ride for Life Chicago sponsors have multiple opportunities for volunteer engagement and visibility – including opening and Closing Ceremonies, route pit-stops/water stations, as well as the Ride’s many print, social, and email promotions over 5-6 months of community and volunteer engagement.
Ride for Life participants engage in months of preparation, training, and fundraising with their friends, peers, and colleagues. On Sept 7-8, 2019, they will cycle 200 miles that span three states, and throughout the year, they and TPAN rally our community members and even roadside supporters to raise funds and awareness.
Over its many miles, the Ride includes a kick-off ceremony, 8 pit-stops or stations, an overnight camp team experience, and a celebratory Closing Ceremony, plus the enthusiastic and visible crew team presence that makes this event possible. The Ride for Life Chicago is a vehicle for profound storytelling, education, and empowerment. Through our stories, we reduce stigma and compel action.
Our supporters include LGBT people, families, care providers, health advocates, and many people themselves living with HIV. The Ride for Life highlights and humanizes their experiences while turning their energy and advocacy into lifesaving care and services at TPAN. The Ride for Life shares the meaningful and deeply personal stories of our cyclists, volunteers, and champions.

Our mission is to save and empower lives affected by HIV and its many health challenges. In TPAN’s 31 year history, we have grown from a peer-led, community-based organization that mobilized in response to the AIDS crisis to a nationally recognized, full-service health organization. We are small in scale yet far-reaching in our impact. In addition to our delivery of care to thousands in Chicago, we are the only non-profit in the U.S. with a nationally distributed education and health news magazine.

TPAN serves individuals across all identities of race, ethnicity, and gender. Most who access our care are low-income LGBT individuals and people of color – community members most impacted by HIV in Chicago. TPAN’s Ride for Life Chicago supports direct care and services right here at home. Through Positively Aware, TPAN also provides HIV-focused health and treatment information to people in rural areas, underserved cities, prisons and care systems. Our expertise in health care and HIV reaches all 50 states and many communities still living with the powerful stigma of HIV.
Our LGBTQ youth drop-in program and health intervention programs engage hundreds of young adults and have received national recognition for their innovative design and successes. From our small location on Chicago’s North Side, we are changing lives in profound ways. HIV is only one of our areas of expertise. TPAN is the care provider for hundreds of older adults, many of whom are long-term survivors of HIV. Older adults living with chronic illness turn to TPAN to access expert care delivered with dignity and compassion.
