    Regent’s Message for August

    My dearest CDA sisters,

Hope you are having a beautiful summer so far! Our court has been

blessed with several new members over the last few months. What a joy

to see our court grown in this way, which surely is the fruit of the work,

love and faith demonstrated by each of you every day for our parish

    and community.

Celebrate our court anniversary by going to Mass with us on August 4th

at the 11am Mass. Please wear white (black skirt or pant is fine, if you

prefer). We will also install Fr. Justin as our new chaplain! Then, we will

have a cake and punch reception after Mass.

Enjoy the waning days of summer my beautiful sisters! Peace,

Kat Berbel Regent, Ct. St. Martin de Porres #2719

    District Deputy’s Message

“Woman of Worth” is a book which I am currently reading with a small group. The

stories and reflections take me back to your overwhelming and joyous July

meeting. Congratulations on your record number of seven new women pledging

their membership in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. You’ve increased your

awareness of how each of you can bring new life to this organization. You are

    women of vigor.

This book also reminded me of your calendar, 2nd Sunday’s, wearing CDA

shirts/CDA purple. The woman in the book of Proverbs wears fine linen and purple

to communicate to all her confidence in herself and her faith in the Lord. Celebrate

    being womenn of worth.

Congratulations on your CDA and JCDA Courts’ Anniversary and blessings to a

beginning of a new CDA year.

    God Bless,

    Laura Pena

    Excerpt from National Clergy Consultant

Fr. Ed Lamp’s Welcome to New Members:

“The motto of Catholic Daughters is “Unity and Charity.”

Charity is often much easier than unity. In Catholic

Daughters you will encounter a variety of women, each

with her own opinion and ideas, and each created in God’s

image and likeness. Robert Fulghum once wrote: “We could learn a lot from

crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty, and some are dull. Some have

weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same

box.” Only with Charity can we be United.”

Eucharistic Procession & Farewell to Fr. Charlie One of the last wishes of Fr. Charlie as a gift to him from

our parish occurred on June 23, the Solemnity of the

Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. St. Martin de Porres

came together as a parish and provided for the largest

Corpus Christi Procession held on the grounds of our

parish. Commencing immediately after the 1:30pm

Spanish Mass, Fr. Charlie processed with the Holy

Eucharist out of the Church and over to the St.

Dymphna Center for a brief period of Adoration.

Fr. Charlie’s Farewell luncheon was served with over 400

parishioners in attendance. The CDA hosted the potluck

    reception.

    Kat Berbel, Mary Gomez, and

    Charla Miller are canopy bearers.

The parishioners gather for the farewell speeches.

    From the Pastoral Council:

“The Pastoral Council extends their heartfelt THANK YOU for making Fr. Charlie’s Farewell Weekend one, we hope, he will never

    forget.”

We so appreciate the support and hard work from all the Ministries, Staff, and most of all, this one of a kind Parish Community! While

we believe we had at least twice, if not, three times the attendance we were expecting, Luke’s Gospel yesterday told us, “They all
