Letter from the 2012 Chair and the President/CEO
W hat a pleasure it is to share with you the outstanding year the Newnan-Coweta Chamber experienced in 2012! The improvements and gains we realized represented
some of our greatest accomplishments in our 65-year history! What a fantastic year!As always, the success of an organization like ours is due to the efforts, sacrifices and
cooperation of the Board of Directors, the staff, the volunteers and our members. Our year was not done in an environment of economic heaven. Our member businesses continue to face challenges due to the Great Recession, and it’s a tribute to their efforts and belief in the advocacy of a pro-business organization like the Chamber that we experienced the success we did.
Please enjoy this Annual Report and continue to help us make 2013 an even more successful year.
Thanks for all you do!

4 — The Newnan Times-Herald — 2012 Chamber Annual Report
Advocacy DivisionThe Newnan-Coweta Chamber
is the primary business advocacy voice for the county’s business base. As such, our members expect a superior effort in creat-ing policies that yield results for their businesses, which is the goal of this division.
In 2010, the Chamber launched the Economic Prosperity Council, a collaboration of business and government leaders, to speak with one voice on economic development and prosperitystrategies. This was warmly received by the community and, with the cooperative efforts of over 50 leaders, a community branding effort was developed in 2011 to market Coweta County to the world. This enthusiasm gave birth to the successful “Prosperity’s Front Door” cam-paign with coordinated market-ing themes, logos and other mar-keting tactics that demonstrated that our community profession-ally presented one voice and face and could get things accom-plished. Today, the program continues as does the attraction of business investment at a vigor-ous pace in the post-recession climate.
The Chamber led the way in educating voters on a funding mechanism known as SPLOST, or Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, to enable specific proj-ects to be funded that ensure Coweta will continue to keep pace with growth. Due, in part, to the Chamber’s efforts, the voters supported the SPLOST, allowing Coweta to continue maintenance and improvements that result in Coweta being recognized as one of the state’s premier counties.
Educating busy business people and citizens about politi-cal candidates and issues is an important role of the Chamber. By hosting numerous candi-date forums, publishing regular reports on the legislature’s activi-ties, presenting legislative round-tables and participating in the annual Eggs and Issues Forum, the Chamber keeps Coweta lead-ers and citizens apprised of issues that affect Coweta’s business environment.
We are proud of these signifi-cant achievements, and they are
important reasons the Newnan-Coweta Chamber exists. In order for this success to be sustained, continual leadership develop-ment is required in order for a community to maintain a sus-tainable leadership base. The grooming of future leaders is an absolute requirement, and for the past 18 years, the Chamber-sponsored Leadership Coweta program has played a prominent part in that role. Tomorrow’s leaders are here today and the future success of our community is dependent on fresh ideas and leaders to assume that role.
A very important job for any successful chamber is to advo-cate for its members. In 2012, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber did a tireless and effective job of that and the results for our members are measurable. This has been a strong year for educating and engaging our members and it is part of our responsibility to them. It’s who we are and what we do. We will continue to advocate, educate and represent our mem-bers and our community in the next year and beyond.
Membership & Marketing Division
Service to our members is the primary business of the Chamber. In order to best serve them, the level of participation of the busi-ness community is essential, and that level is measured by the growth of the membership base. We are proud to report that, in 2012, while still in the throes of the Great Recession, we once again grew our membership. We also grew our valued Enhanced
Investors, a special group of investors. The confidence of our membership base is gratifying and deeply appreciated. It allows us to continue our service to them and the community.
By mid-2012, the Chamber had
surpassed the 700-plus members level, a significant achievement at any time but especially so dur-ing the economic challenging times of the past five years.
The Chamber understands that busy members demand results
from their membership invest-ment. In part, the Chamber deliv-ers on that requirement through many networking opportunities. Again in 2012, the Golf Classic surpassed the record number of attendees with a hugely success-ful day of fun and friendship. This year’s Bowling Adventure, with its TV Land costume theme, allowed a record crowd to share laughs, a few memorable moments and lots of networking opportunities. The BigExpo event also achieved its perennial success with about 100 exhibitors and 1,200 attend-ees at the Summit YMCA.
In addition to the legacy net-working events, there were new opportunities to get out and get your business known, such as the launch of the Small Business Awards and focus groups to par-ticipate in new program design and development.
Getting favorably noticed is the holy grail of community development and success. We know that Coweta County is one of the best places to live, work and play in all of Georgia. But how do we get that message to
the rest of the world? The five-year marketing and community branding campaign, Prosperity’s Front Door, is the result of the Chamber’s development and implementation, designed to achieve cohesion in the entire county’s marketing efforts. In one year, the buy-in and financial support of members and gov-ernment entities has resulted in a tremendous launch and cam-paign, implementation that has mobilized the entire community in a terrifically-integrated way.
Coweta is selling its many assets to the world as the place to live, work and play and is getting measurable results. We are very, very proud of the community’s coming together in support of this tremendous effort.
Organizational Performance DivisionPerhaps the most important
achievement of 2012 was the attainment of the most success-ful financial year in theNewnan-Coweta Chamber’s

65-year history. This builds upon the last two years of ending the fiscal year in the black, a con-siderable achievement for any chamber but especially so when viewed through the lens of the economic crises facing America’s businesses. The leadership and wisdom of the Chamber Board was the major contributor to this wonderful success.
In addition, and perhaps in part because of, the operational improvement and professional development of the staff was a contributing factor. But, once again, the support of a highly effective board of directors allowed the staff to grow and achieve in ways that truly made a difference. Membership on the Newnan-Coweta Chamber’s board of directors is a large com-munity responsibility and one that is taken seriously by those members.
The continuing financial support of the membership in continuing to contribute to the building maintenance and improvement of the Chamber’s facility allows the headquarters to remain a symbol of member and community pride.
One of the most satisfying achievements in 2012 was the completion of the accreditation application to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a process which took seven years. Every aspect of the Chamber’s organization, financial stability, service to members and organizational governance is scrutinized in a rigorous process that can be compared to earning a PhD from a prestigious university. When bestowed, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber will join the crème de la crème of chambers of commerce in the United States and will again bring favorable attention and respect to Coweta County.
Coweta County is indeed one of the finest in Georgia and we at the Chamber are humbled and privileged to be a part of that. We are grateful to the members, the volunteers and the efforts of the board of directors in mak-ing this so. It was a benchmark year for the Newnan-Coweta Chamber and we look forward to another in 2013.

In 2012 the Chamber launched a major community branding
campaign, Prosperity’s Front Door, designed to unite all the vari-ous assets that could be used to further sell Coweta County as the place to live, work and play. The new brand is being integrated into all the marketing materials, ensur-ing that a consistent message is projected locally, throughout the state, and worldwide.
The branding campaign came about as a result of recommenda-tions from the Chamber’s 2010 roundtables and the Coweta County Development Authority’s 2011 community assessment. Initially, a standards-and-styles campaign and guide were devel-oped, allowing key community stakeholders to project a consis-tent brand to market the Chamber and community using a multi-channel approach.
This brand provides consis-tency in every communication by displaying a professional, easily-recognized message to all markets
while allowing flexibility to appeal to different ages or interests through different mediums and products.
Brief Positioning Statement:As the front door to prosperity,
Coweta County is the ultimate des-tination to grow your business and your family.
Brief Synopsis:Coweta County is a strong com-
munity strategically positioned to provide all the amenities crucial to fostering prosperous industry growth and development.
The county has become a mag-net for those seeking an excep-tional quality of life, with a wide range of state-of-the-art health care treatment options and an educational system that prioritizes student advancement and lifelong learning.
Coweta’s close proximity to Atlanta and the world’s busiest air-port provides businesses and com-munity residents easy access to an international network essential to
Coweta’s progress. As the front door to prosperity,
Coweta County is the ultimate place to grow your business and your family.
Global Vision Statement:Guided by the needs of our
growing business and residen-tial communities, and taking full advantage of our strategic loca-tion, educated workforce, and health infrastructure, Coweta County envisions fostering steady economic development, ensuring an expanding global impact and boundless prosperity.
Key Partners EnsureCampaign’s Success
Several business leaders led the way through financial support to ensure that the campaign became a reality. Thanks to their support Coweta is now benefitting from this strategic branding campaign. Organizations that provided sup-port were the following:
1. City of Senoia/Downtown Development Authority
2. Coweta County Development Authority
3. Coweta County Water & Sewer Authority
4. Coweta-Fayette EMC 5. Headley Construction 6. Newnan-Coweta Chamber7. Newnan-Coweta Board of

Community Members Leverage the Power of Prosperity’s Front Door
The Chamber recently awarded a trip to St. Simons Island at its 65th annual
meeting to the Newnan-Coweta Board of Realtors for best integra-tion of Prosperity’s Front Door in their branding efforts. The board adopted a new logo with elements of Prosperity’s Front Door and will be enjoying the benefits both on the beach and with their bottom line.
Prosperity’s Front Door Branding Campaign Opens New Opportunities for Coweta County

I AM ABREAST CANCERSURVIVOR.
Audrey AllenSavannah, Georgia
“My care team developed a personalized treatment plan just for me.”
When Audrey was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was devastated. Like many newly diagnosed people, she went online, exploring every breast cancer treatment solution. But she couldn’t find exactly what she wanted. She had heard about Cancer Treatment Centers of America® and our unique treatment model. With over three decades of experience in treating complex and advanced-stage cancer, we were the cancer hospital Audrey was looking for.
Within a few days Audrey and her care team developed a personalized treatment plan combining leading-edge conventional treatments with scientifically-based supportive therapies. Audrey opted for Brachytherapy, a more advanced form of radiation. And with the help of her dietician and naturopathic doctor, she was able to reduce side effects and stay strong during her treatment.
Eight years later, Audrey is confident she made the right decision in going to Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Her husband, children and grandchildren are, too.
Read more about Audrey’s treatment and life after breast cancer at cancercenter.com/audrey.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with advanced-stage or complex cancer, call our newest hospital in Newnan, Georgia, at 1.888.845.2471 or visit us at cancercenter.com/southeastern. Appointments available now.
No case is typical. You should not expectto experience these results.

We are very, very proud of the community’s coming together in support of this tremendous effort.

achievement of 2012 was the attainment of the most success-ful financial year in theNewnan-Coweta Chamber’s
