Questions of the Week First Reading
Today’s reading is an excerpt from the final
suffering servant oracle of the book of Isaiah
(52:13-53:12). The prophet Isaiah speaks of
redemptive suffering. When have you found God’s
grace at moments of suffering in your life?
Second Reading
We hear in Hebrews how Jesus sympathizes with our
weaknesses. What would you say are your spiritual
weaknesses?
Gospel Reading
Jesus speaks to his disciples today about the
importance of service to others. In what ways do you
offer service to others in need?
Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Isaiah 53: 10-11 pg. 673
Hebrews 4: 14-16 pg. 1361
Mark 10: 35-45 pg. 1152
It’s Brute Award time of the year and we have selected
this year’s winners. One of the winners that the parish
has bestowed this award upon this year is the
Tucker Family: Gina, Don and Anna.
If you’ve attended the 5:00 pm Mass
you have seen them in action.
For several years, the three have been heavily
involved in our Life Teen program.
All three are Eucharistic Ministers;
Gina is a lector, and Don a sacristan.
Don and Anna are some of our camera operators
and Don and Gina help with our SCRIP program.
Gina also serves on our Parish Council.
The parish has been immensely blessed by their
service and dedication for many years.
Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jeremiah 31: 7-9 pg. 723
Hebrews 5: 1-6 pg. 1361
Mark 10: 46-52 pg. 1192
Remember a loved one at Mass
Please call the Parish Office at 812-423-5209
or email [email protected].
All Saints Parish Clean Up Day
Saturday, November 3
8 am to 12 pm
St. Anthony Campus
We will split into teams and work together to tackle
some projects around the Church campus.
Coffee, Donut Holes and Hot Chocolate will be
served! Any questions, please contact Sharon or Lisa
in the Parish Office at 812-423-5209.
Soup Makers Needed
We know we have good soup makers in our
parish! If you are willing to make homemade soup
for the All Saints Sweepstakes, please sign-up after
Mass. Bring your crockpot full of soup to the cafeteria
on November 4th by 10:30 am. Please call the Parish
Office with questions or to sign-up, 812-423-5209.
Parish Appreciation Dinner
Several parishioners have asked about
our Appreciation Dinner. Because Fr. Jay is
recuperating from his surgery (and we don’t want
to have a dinner without him), our Parish
Appreciation Dinner will be held sometime in
March or April of 2019. We will let you know when
we have the new date.
Book of Remembrance
During November, we are called in a special way
to remember those who have gone to their
eternal rest. The names of those who have
passed away this past year will be displayed in
our Book of Remembrance that will travel
between St. Anthony and St. Joseph Churches.
Please remember these brothers and sisters in Christ
and their family members especially during this month
of November.

Have you shared your faith with someone? Know someone who might like to become Catholic?
Think about someone you can invite to come and learn
a little about the Catholic faith. Questions?
Call Lisa at 812-423-5209. Our next RCIA Inquiry
Session will be on Thursday, November 1st at
5:30 pm Mass. We will meet after Mass in the Church.
We have prayed for this “building” when it was the
“old St. Joseph School.” Now it will become home for
family, friends and neighbors. As they begin to move
in and make this their home, let us keep them in our
prayers.
“O God, you freely give your blessings to us.
May they be shared by all who are blessed to live
at Carpenter Place.
O God, you protect our going out and coming in;
let hospitality be shared with all who visit and live
here.
May this new home be a place for dreams and
realities.
We pray for well-being and community for all who
live at Carpenter Place.
We make this our prayer in the name of Joseph,
the carpenter, and Jesus our Lord. Amen.”
Please join us for Carpenter’s Place Ribbon Cutting
Ceremony on Monday, October 22,
at 10:00 am in celebration of the newly
renovated affordable housing apartments
(formally St. Joseph School), 521 N. Garvin Street,

Justice Challenge 29th Week in Ordinary Time
Saturday is National Make a Difference Day (celebrated
the fourth Saturday in October). All of us want to leave
our mark on the world in some way. Your challenge
this week is to choose one action you can take to make
a difference in the life of a person who is a victim of
injustice in your community. It might be a student
victimized by bullying, or a worker who is denied a fair
wage. You may see racism alive and well and choose to
do something to break the cycle. Whatever you choose,
see if you can make a difference so someone
experiences more justice than he or she did before.

swag, and/or centerpiece.
Life Teen/EDGE
Hey everyone. We had a blast at Sky Zone. Even
though a lot of us got out at dodgeball… some more
than others! So this weekend, if you’re reading this on
Saturday night, come over to Saint Anthony campus.
We are watching the movie Coco and eating pizza,
popcorn, and Smore‘s. It all begins at 6:00 pm.
On Sunday, we are leaving at 12 o’clock to go to the
Titzer’s. It’s going to be a great day with kayaking,
basketball, fishing, shuffleboard, walking, hiking, etc.
Bring a change of clothes just in case you get wet.
We will be back by 4:30 to get ready for Mass. Bring a
friend. If you have any questions, just let me know.
Next Sunday, we are leaving at 6:00 pm to go to the
Haunted Houses. I do have permission forms that
need to be filled out. The cost is $10. But don’t let that
stop you from coming and being frightened.
Peace out, Sister T

TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) is a three-day experience
for young people who are searching for goals,
acceptance, meaning, and for community. Adults are
also welcome and encouraged to attend as they
increase our witness to our faith while experiencing
their own encounter with Christ.
Candidates can expect to meet others from all areas of
the Diocese, find how God fits in your life, and
encounter the Risen Jesus Christ. You will have time to
reflect on your life, ideas, hopes, and dreams away
from home, school, and/or work. You can find an
application and more information at
http://www.switec.org/ The next weekend is
November 10-12, 2018 at St. Mary’s Church in Ireland.
