Spanish Elective Update

As we continue to maintain our cohort framework one of the challenges is that we cannot fully offer our elective menu. While all of our electives have the opportunity to impact our students’ academic experience – we are working options for students that SELECTED Spanish in 8th and 7th grade that have not had the option yet. We are blessed to have an amazing teacher in Senora Blahnik and we are continuing to look at ways to try and offer some version of Spanish for our students that requested the elective during Tri 2. CELA is also looking into the use of Duolingo for students to have an opportunity to continue to learn, be it more independently. We are finding that a number of schools are in use of Duolingo in all levels.

Tri 2 Electives

The electives for CELA’s Middle School students have been set with our teachers. In plan-ning/conversations with administration and our teachers, we have worked to try to continue to grow and provide different opportunities. CELA is still committed to the cohort frame-work as we move into Tri 2, which does limit our ability to provide the choice in our elec-tives as done in previous years. We are thankful for the understanding of our students, par-ents, and teachers as we know that the ‘choices’ provided may not be exactly what every student selected. Our continued hope is that we will have a time this year where CELA’s school framework will return to what everyone is hopeful for.

Continued COVID Safety Plan

I am sure you all have heard that Governor Evers’ mask mandate has been extended to at least the middle of January. With this new extension we ask that you remind your child about CELA’s safety protocol and explain that we follow these safety guidelines so that we can STAY SAFE and OPEN for face-to-face learning.

The mandate says that at schools, staff and students should wear masks when they are inside even when they are 6 feet apart, and they should also wear masks outside if they cannot be socially distanced. There are a few exceptions to the mandate, like if a person is eating or drinking, giving a presentation, or have a personal situation that precludes them from having to wear a mask.

We realize that opinions differ widely on the issue of wearing masks and on the issue of COVID itself. In the interest of our teach-ers, administrators and students we will do what is best to keep our school safe and open.

We are blessed and have been fortunate to have had only a few positive cases. However, with the surge in cases in our area and the approaching Thanksgiving/Christmas season, it is very important that we continue to follow all of CELA’s safety guideline sso that we continue to be safe and stay open.

Thank you for your continued support! We are blessed you have entrusted us with your children. We pray you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and know that we are so thankful for our amazing God and for all of you!

Love and God’s blessings,

Dr. LaFleur, Mrs. Daniels and Mr. Antholine
