The PromiseBy Pastor Yolanda D. Morgan

As believers, it is imperative that we trust God with our destiny. So often our human nature has a tendency to view it with less clarity. The distractions of temptation and attacks can clearly cloud the promises God has given us.Abraham's diligent faith intrigues me. Think about it...he never wavered or questioned

God, though he encountered countless setbacks. God allowed Abraham's faith to be tested when he required him to offer his only child, Isaac. Amazingly, Abraham was discerning enough to realize God would provide another sacrifice. His words to his servant were, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. WE will worship and then WE will come back to you." (Genesis 22:5, NIV) See...Abraham had to know that if God would give him a promised son, He would also fulfill the destiny of Isaac. It is impossible to have great promise and destiny upon our lives without encountering great adversity. We must remain steadfast in our faith and trust God if we are to see the promise fulfilled. IF GOD PROMISED IT...IF GOD SAID IT...WE MUST BELIEVE IT!

Cabbage Patch Stew1 pound ground beef 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes1 head cabbage, chopped 1 tablespoon chili powder2 onions, chopped Salt and pepper to taste! cup diced celery Mashed potatoes (Instant or homemade)2 cups water 2 (15-oz) cans red kidney beans, rinsed and drained

Brown beef. Add cabbage, onions, and celery. Cook in large pot until vegetables are semi-tender. Add water and simmer 15 minutes. Add beans, tomatoes, chili powder, salt and pepper. Simmer 30 minutes or longer. Serve in bowls topped with spoonfuls of mashed potatoes. Great with hot corn bread.

!"#$%&'()#*'+(#(,-&.(/01'*#23%45##Most evangelists, well preachers for that matter, prepare sermons to minister to broken hearts and the hurting souls of humanity. I’ve been privilege to sit under mighty men and woman who preached God’s word with such conviction that sinners and saints fall to their faces and wail before God because of their sins. I’ve learned from the “best” on how to minister e!ectively to the audience in front of me but I stilled lacked in one area. "ere was something that I could not do as well as I had hoped. "ere was a person I had the most di#cult time comforting the most…me! As a minister I knew how to speak the word in faith to the persons sitting on the front row. I knew how and would often minister healing,

hope and salvation to those in need but when it came to my personal life it was most di#cult to preach the same word in my bedroom, bathroom, living room or basement. I felt alone, scared, confused and lost in my own sin and transgression. I begged for help with my silence yet no

one could hear my yells. I hoped that people could see through my fabricated smile and pretentious laugh

but they did not. And that’s when I realized that the reason many of the saints could not see my disguise is because they were wearing one of their own. To be continued in the next edition of the “Evangelist Corner”.

Single Mother’s CornerForty percent of single mothers live in

poverty. Out of that forty percent 22.5 million children grow up to displace the similar trends of poverty-stricken lifestyle. It is vital that we are sending the right messages to our children. Not the lifestyle that they see in the rap videos, but hard work and dedication. Read with your child, allow special

time for you to talk and bond. This helps your child realize that they can always come to you for advice or help with life decisions. Do not allow teaching to be limited to the classroom, parents teach as well. As long as your child is ahead, they will never be behind. You must understand we are raising the next generation, with the possibilities to be doctors, lawyers, politician and even president of the United States. The proper guidance will allow them to reach their full potential. If you guide a life today, you save a life tomorrow.

CONVENIENT SHOPPER MAGAZINE

Ministry Spotlight with Rev. Dr. Alvin Miller and First Lady Dominique Miller

CS: What’s happening at St John?Miller: Ohh a lot!!! I think the move of GOD...is taking over at St John. I think the presence of the Lord is in this place because we know how to bow down and worship him, that is what the people are being taught. I think that whenever you have Praise, Worship, Service and love in the atmosphere the power of God moves in a awesome and a majestic way.CS: Tell us about your congregation?Miller: Our congregation is very mixed; it is a young vibrant congregation, it is a congregation that’s excited about community service, it is a congregation that is hungry for learning about the teachings in the word of Jesus. 1st Lady: We have a congregation of people that are very, very talented and very compassionate, outgoing, friendly.Miller: And it is a congregation that welcomes leadership, and have no problem with following the leadership that GOD has put in place here.

CS: What year did your ministry start?Miller: The year that my ministry started was in 1983.CS: When did you start here in St John?Miller: in 2008, I accepted the job May 2008 and I started teaching in June 2008.CS: What encourages your faith?1st Lady: What encourages mine is I just know how GOD has my back no matter what, I know that GOD he will take care of it, and he has shown me enough times that he has work things out that I know he is not going to ever fail. He has shown me everyday how to move. And I’ve learned to know the voice of GOD and listen to what he is saying to me. I just know he just works it out, all the time, he just works it out, no matter what going on, no matter what people say, no matter people think, when you stick with GOD he just works it out.Miller: what encourages mine is John 12:32, we lift up Jesus he will draw all men, and then Isaiah1:18-19 if I am willing and obedient, I shall eat the good of the land. And then Psalm 37:1-4, really just Psalm 37, the whole chapter itself, GOD will provide for you, my faith hunger, and GOD will work it out. Regardless of what evil people do, GOD will at the end GOD will still be standing and I will be standing with him.CS: What do you want the readers to know about you ministry?Miller: That it is a ministry of love and everybody is welcome, and the ministry of Jesus is supreme, it’s a ministry of compassion, we are here to help those who are hurting, those who need the love of Jesus, it’s not a self-righteous ministry, we don’t condemn we lift you up.1st lady: what I would like for people to know is that everybody has a story and that we are all the same and everybody has made mistakes. But if you come to St John and follow leadership and you participate, you will learn that if you confess and believe Jesus will forgive you of your sins and you can really live holy; according to the bible it is possible. Some people think that it is impossible, but it is possible.Miller: Everybody can be used by GOD, not by the devil, but by GOD. Everybody that comes here can be used by GOD. To me that is the thrust…1st lady: then you learn the truth about GOD, because there are so many lies that people tell, so many traditional things that you are taught when you are growing up, but then when you know the truth about what GOD word says then you can be delivered. Women may say that they have had a abortion and think GOD won’t ever love them again, but when you learn about GOD and forgiveness and what GOD’s purpose is for your life, then you can live in the truth and not darkness.Miller: It’s the revelatory teaching. We teach with revelation, we don’t just teach to just be teaching; but we teach with revelation.CS: in one word what is your ministry, your individual ministry?1ST lady: EncouragementMiller: Deliverer, that’s what Moses was called …”the Great Deliverer”…yes Deliverer.

The meaning of the term poke has never been defined.

Introducing Mia BushBy Shirley Bush

Hello Convenient Shopper Readers, we would like to introduce our newest team member behind the camera. Her name is Mia Bush, our assistant photographer. Mia is an intelligent, educated and a very active 3 year old. Her extracurricular activities include

ballet, gymnastic, swimming, computer and music classes. In the month of May, her ballet class performed “Animal Cracker in My Soup.” What an outstanding performance. Due to Mia’s level of education, she has been accepted into a Pre-K program for 4 year olds, where she excels above her peers. The chief reason for Mia’s education success is that her mother, Shirley and father, Malcolm read to her before she was born. She is a very happy, out-going child that loves to take pictures. On the scene of the video shoot for Leading Ladies, Mia was standing right behind the Videographer/ Producer taking pictures. We are excited to see what the future holds for the bright rising star.

Exclusive Interview with Pastor Anthony Daley Senior Pastor of the Tabernacle Church

By Treva R. Gordon

CSM: Hello Pastor Anthony, tell us about your church, The Tabernacle Church.AD: We are a multi-campus facility/ministry. We have a campus in

Indian Mound Tennessee and we planted a campus here in Clarksville in March 2010. The Clarksville campus gathers in the old TSC building on Wilma Rudolph Blvd. behind Walgreens. In addition, we planted The Tabernacle Hispanic in 2009 which is the fastest growing Spanish ministry in the Clarksville area. They gather in the Bank of America building on Legion St. The ministry focus is on generational connections, platform building and advancement of the Kingdom through empowering and releasing. CSM: What has attributed to your growth?AD: We keep it real. We make the message relevant to today's living, and we are extremely passionate in our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. We endeavor to create an environment in our gatherings that allow you to connect in a deeper way to both the Spirit of God and your calling in the kingdom. The "normal" liturgical monologue is not The Tab- every service has its unique difference. At the end of the day people are really looking for the "God there has got to be more". We are in pursuit of that!

CSM: Let’s discuss The Tabernacle Clarksville Campus opening, when is the anticipated date for your first service?AD: Our dedication service is October 14th, but we plan to have our first service on September 30th. CSM: How did you get your start in ministry?AD: I was raised in Indian Mound, TN and from Ohio as a young kid. I attended the small

Assembly of God Church in Indian Mound until about 17 yrs old. After which I went away from the church for about 10 years into the drug culture. I lost nearly everything in life, with the exception of my family. God visited me one night while high on crack cocaine and I surrendered. From there He began to raise me up and I've been pursuing Him ever since. That was July of 1998. CSM: Tell us about your congregation?AD: We are really a diverse group of people. In many churches today there is still a lot of tension towards different. The Tab, through prayer, has become a Mosaic that is really Clarksville TN. You will meet Hispanics, Asians, African Americans and Caucasians from all walks of life. We make every attempt to allow people to be who God has called them to be; encouraging each face to become the piece of the puzzle in Gods kingdom. We celebrate differences that exist on the inside and out. At The Tab you can find people who are state representatives, construction workers, college educated, GED graduates. The great thing about our diversity is while it stands out to the outside observer, to our community we are- AS ONE! CSM: Favorite scripture?AD: My favorite scripture would be “And you shall receive Power after that the Holy ghost is come upon you and you shall be a witness unto me in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the world…Acts 1:8” CSM: Tell us about your staff.AD: Again that diversity is reflected in our staff. We have people who represent all various races and walks of life. We are a conglomeration of diversity. No matter what walk of life people come from when they come to The Tab, they can find someone to connect with their story. CSM: From such a great children’s ministry to outreach, what’s happening at The Tabernacle? AD: Generational connection is one of our big things that we push in the church with our children’s ministry, we are not here to entertain or babysit children. We are raising men and women of God. We make sure there is a connection to what we preach/teach in the sanctuary to that which is presented in our youth

and children’s services. We employ our youth to serve in what has traditionally been reserved for adults. This has helped us hold onto those kids when they reach those transitional ages. As far as outreach goes our primary objective is for orphans. Most of our outreach efforts surround a ministry we call TJ’s House. TJ’s House reaches as far as Africa. In addition to our local presence in the Salvation Army, Safe Harbour etc. we frequently travel into Africa, having assisted and ministered to people Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, also in the Philippines and Mexico. We are currently raising money for a fully functioning dental clinic in Zimbabwe. CSM: Anything extra you would like our readers to know about The Tabernacle?AD: We love Jesus. We are going to keep it honest. We are not trying to out do another ministry and steal peoples members. We just want be who God has called us to be and let that speak for itself. We have a saying at The Tab- Join The Movement. Real, Relevant and Relentless CSM: Tell us about the significance of your church name ‘The Tabernacle’ and what does that mean? AD: We believe that God is building lives for habitation and that’s our function here, build lives in order that they can be inhabited by the Spirit of God. In the Old Testament, when Moses had set everything in order concerning The Tabernacle, then the Glory of God filled it. Glory follows order- when a kingdom structure is set God will fill it to affirm. CSM: What would you like to say about our Fort Campbell Soldiers and their families?AD: We honor them. We realize the responsibility they have. We certainly hold each of them in the highest respect. Not just anyone can be a soldier. While they are deployed our responsibility is both to pray and serve their families left behind. We love our soldiers.

CHRISTIAN WISDOM “Reaching” by Tamika Christian

PHILIPPIANS 3:13 Brethren I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Hello Saints!!So many times things happen in life, good things, bad things, confusing things etc. And sometimes we feel so lost, we become like babies, putting our hands up in desperation reaching for anything that can give us some sort of direction. Well Saints...GOD wants you to REACH FORWARD, REACH IN FRONT OF YOU and forget those things which are behind you. The bible says, "The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10 Saints you can't have life more abundantly if you are holding on to past hurts!!! I know those things hurt you, almost destroyed you, made you think that you were losing your mind - but it's in those times our GOD is perfect, it's in those times that GOD can get close to you; it's in those times that you truly reach for him and only him. We have to get into the habit of reaching to him always, in every situation. Every day you wake up GOD has fulfilled a promise to you, he has protected you, he has lead you and has guided you. GOD has faith in YOU and he wants to bless YOU. Saints reach up, GOD is waiting….

Breast Cancer Get The FactsBy Treva R. Gordon

Losing a loved one to breast cancer can be a difficult experience. In 1994, my grandmother Mrs. Norma Davis lost her battle to breast cancer. She was a strong woman and a fighter. She always put her best foot forward. Since them, several women I know have been affected. I am so thankful for ongoing research and information that is made readily available.

Here Are a Few Early Signs of Breast Cancer:*A lump in the breast or underarm that persists after your menstrual cycle. This is often the first

apparent symptom of breast cancer. Lumps associated with breast cancer are usually painless, although some may cause a prickly sensation. Lumps are usually visible on a mammogram long

before they can be seen or felt. *Swelling in the armpit. *Pain or tenderness in the breast. Although lumps are usually painless, pain or tenderness can be a sign of breast cancer. *A noticeable flattening or indentation on the breast, which may indicate a tumor that cannot be seen or felt.

Fact: Can men also develop breast cancer? The answer is yes, although women are about 100 times more likely to develop the disease than men. For more information about breast cancer, consult your physician; especially if any of these early warning signs are present.

Leading Ladies Portrait UnveilingBy Shirley BushHarpers Restaurant in Nashville, TN

On August 10, 2012, a group of Leading Ladies traveled to Nashville, TN for the 2nd Unveiling

of the Leading Ladies Portrait at the famous Harper Restaurants. Little did the ladies know what God had in store for them? During their travel to Nashville the weather was inclement, but the ladies persevered. This was God in the making. As they arrived, the weather also prohibited the spouse of Mr. Harper to leave the restaurant. The ladies were blessed with 40 minutes of mentorship from the spouse of Mr. Harper, owner of Harper’s Restaurant. The spouse was no other than Senator Thelma Harper. She was more than willing to express her views and provide guidance to the Leading Ladies. She was especially excited as Treva Gordon, the founder of Leading Ladies, explained the vision and mission of the

group. One thing about being a member of this amazing group is the anticipation and expectation of not knowing what to expect. When the praises of God go up, the blessings will come down! The Unveiling was a once in a lifetime experience. Why a once in a lifetime experience? Who gets to sit down and talk to the Senator of the state on a day today norm? Being a Leading Lady and intertwined with Treva Gordon will take you to higher heights and deeper depths in the Lord and society. Special thanks to Braxton Photography and Harpers Restaurant located in Nashville, TN.

Melissa’s Green Cornerby Melissa Thomas

Now, that one of the driest summers on record is over, I hope you still have some flowers and plants left in your landscaping! However, if you lost your landscaping, now is the time to start preparing for next year. By doing a simple “Google” search you can find

flowering plants and grasses that are native to the region you live in. These native plants are adapted to grow in specific regions and the specific weather conditions of that region. This means not only will these native plants thrive, but they will require less general maintenance such as watering. Most of these native plants are perennials so you only buy them once and they come back every year. Even with a limited budget you can achieve a lavish garden in just a couple of growing seasons. If you can only afford two plants, buy two. Next year divide those plants and have four and so on, until you reach your desired landscaping look. It may even be useful, after you have selected the plants you want, to draw some pictures to reach your vision. (These pictures may change over time as your tastes or needs change.)

INCARCERATION: IS IT IN YOUR MIND, YOUR BODY or YOUR SOUL?

By Shirley Bush

On August 10, 2012, Team Purpose traveled to the Tennessee Prison for Women in Nashville, TN. This team is made up of Christians of all nationalities. As each member approached the entrance to the prison, the emotions was unidentifiable due to the entrance process. The process of having your id verified, scanned and being frisked, really stirred up more emotions in Team Purpose. It wasn’t until the team entered the gymnasium and the female inmates arrived that Team Purpose was able to identify their feelings. The Presence of God was in the building, and each of them knew at that very moment that this is where GOD wanted them to be. Team Purpose and the inmates were at the RIGHT PLACE at the RIGHT TIME to receive their blessing. The program was orchestrated by Mrs. Treva Gordon, but directed my GOD! Treva and Mr. Kevin Kennedy were the Mister and Mistress of Ceremony, what an awesome team! The inmates really loved the dancing “Kevin” performed during the program. As Tony Dabney approached the microphone, it was evident that the setting was in a women’s prison. He delivered a heartfelt message to the inmates saying “they need to know that he loves them and God loves them also.” The main point of the message was that despite whatever you have done or going through, always remembers that God loves you. God is always there when no one else is. During the program, the Prison Choir performed a praise dance, along with the song, “Imagine.” There was not a dry eye in the building. As the praise team performed, one inmate stated, “This is all we can do, imagine.” The performance was a true example that the group loves the Lord and has spent many hours together training. When serving and worshiping the Lord, we should all be incarcerated and institutionalized for GOD’s purpose. We would also like to send out a special thanks to our very own Clarksville Community Connection Dance Team, Sindy Montgomery, Cathy Adams Johnson, and Denesee Chapman for delivering two spectacular routines. As God continued to direct the program, there was a skit performed by Krista Thompson and Pearl Starks. The ladies of the prison screamed and shouted from the top of their lungs with excitement. As a testimony, Treva called up Pearl Starks to give the women some encouraging words on how she made it through the storm. Pearl delivered such a moving testimony, that at the end of the event, some of the women requested a moment to give Pearl a hug. Even though they were locked away from their love ones, their hearts went out to Pearl. Team Purpose member, Anna Maria, traveled from Detroit Michigan specifically for this event. God brought her to the prison to minister through music. That is exactly what she did. She put on an amazing mini concert for God and the attendees! There was worshiping throughout that building. Special thanks to Worship Pastor, Laurel Grider of Bethel Church, Kayla Atkins on guitar and Michelle Bowen for a beautiful deliverance of her, “Spoken Word.” Treva wrote the program, but GOD directed it. Team purpose and the women of Tennessee Prison worshiped as ONE. They laughed together, cried together, and prayed together. There were times during praise and worship, which the prison around the gymnasium disappeared. Then suddenly the gym became a small country church were everybody knows everybody and the only focus was praising GOD! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
