Rev. LoriMinister and Spiritual Leader

N ew hopes are often alive in us at this time of year. Another cycle begins,

one that we are very familiar with. Children return to school; adults sign up for courses to learn how to knit, paint, potter or

Unity offers a number of courses throughout the year that are meant to enrich your spiritual journey. Take a look at what we have to offer, else-where in this newsletter, and con-sider taking a Wednesday evening course. This fall we are offering a new “Prosperity Plus” course and instead of listening to a CD as we do in our “4T” prosperity course, you will be watching a DVD.

Prosperity courses are often pop-ular because we all want to experi-ence more in our life. And the idea of what prosperity is can be misunder-stood. I once heard someone com-

ment, “Oh, that prosperity course is just about money”. Prosperity is defined differently by everyone. For me, to be prosperous, is to be happy, healthy, in a loving relation-ship with both Bob and God, have a home and transportation, travel and not worry about money. Do I want more of that? You bet I do!

To learn to live prosperously al-lows us to model for others what is capable in their lives too. I find that when I grow, others around me do too. It’s sort of a … when the tide comes in all boats rise. We are energetic beings. We are One. As such we affect each other all the time.

So as I am willing to learn how to be a better me, I change the world, in mostly small ways ... but hey it all adds up. Our vision here at Unity of London is to co-create a world that works for all.

Blessings,

play an instrument. The choices for adult education are varied and many.

Prosperity Plus is a dynamic, video-based, 10-week program that teaches a NEW WAY OF LIVING centered on the spiritual practices of an ABUNDANT LIFE! In this program, you will move from fear, scarcity, and limited thinking to a life full of possibility, prosperity, and promise.

You will discover the 10 Universal Laws that govern an abundant life and will be given the opportunity and encouragement to put these Universal Laws into daily practice. This 10-week “experiment” will be the catalyst for greater self-awareness, deeper spiritual practice, more meaningful relation-ships, financial increase, and a stronger self-esteem. You will make new friends and finish the course feeling more committed and connected to your church.

Your commitment includes: Attending each Prosperity Plus class for the 10-week series; daily contemplation of the prosperity principles; tithing your time and talent; approximately four hours per week; tithing 10% of your total income to your church during each class of the entire 10-week course.

Preview the introductory video on our website at www.unityoflondon.com Each student will purchase materials that include a workbook and 18 audio

tapes. You will watch a video program at the church and use your audio tapes to review the teachings throughout the week. Materials will be available at the Unity bookstore. Cost $59 aproximately (at the time of writing this, shipping and exchange have not been determined.) Call to order at 519-652-9294.

The Prosperity Plus program will be offered for the first time at Unity of Lon-don on Wednesdays, October 3 to December 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Prosperity Plus program set for Oct. 3 to Dec. 5

As a tithing spiritual community, Unity of London presents a tithe each month to a community organi-zation that blesses individuals and groups in some way.

Our June tithe blessed the Learning Disabilities Association of London.

“The Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) - London Region serves children, adolescents, and adults in the City of London and the Counties of Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Perth, Huron, Grey, and Bruce. Our mission is the attainment of a society in which people with learning disabilities are enabled to reach their potential. We believe that people with

learning disabilities can succeed when coping strat-egies and accommodations are developed.”

Our July tithe blessed the Brain Injury Associa-tion.

Their mission and objectives statement, approved in 1995, states:

“We are committed to maximizing the quality of life of individuals with brain injury, their families and friends through: peer and community support; in-formation about available services, resources and programs; public awareness of the causes, impact and prevention of brain injury advocacy on behalf of those affected”.

Sales call leads to her “perfect path” to UnityPersonal Transformation

On January 2011 Sylvia van der Hoek came to London from Collingwood with “a broken heart and broken bank account”. Her relationship of eight years was over and towards the end she was emo-tionally and financially drained.

Earlier in life she had been using New Thought principles but they fell by the wayside as she be-came busier with her career and during the tough times of her personal life.

She had been working with Bob Proctor as a fa-cilitator and recruiter, selling tickets to workshops and seminars, and putting together video presen-tations. During that time she read many self-help and personal development books, one of which had a Unity sticker in the back. “God Works through Faith”, written by Robert Russell.

During her testimony at the Sunday service on July 11, 2012, she spoke of making sales calls in the Meadowbrook Business Park in January 2011 while working part-time for The Athletic Club. She walked into Unity of London’s Book Store and felt the energy that permeates every part of the building. Being an avid reader she drank in the beauty and serenity of the space.

Sylvia recalls using her “sales hat” as she asked Rose in the office a number of business questions. When Sylvia learned that Unity of London was the same as Unity in the United States (based in Mis-souri), she attended her first service on the last Sunday of January 2011.

She recalls being warmly greeted and basked in the welcoming atmosphere and loving energy that is Unity. The upcoming February Blues Dance was right up her alley as she loves to dance and socialize. She “jumped in with both feet” signing up for Part Two of Heart Centered Metaphysics.

She took the required courses and became a Prayer Chaplain for 2012-13 because she wanted to help people and learn how to pray effective-ly. In the spring she took the 4T Prosperity Pro-gram and hosted the Wednesday evening Healing Arts series during July and August. She is also a Leader in Training in preparation for service on the Unity London Board.

As an Independent Associate with LegalShield

she was seeking ways to increase her income. She signed up for the 4T program with the goal to increase her income with LegalShield and focused on fi-nancial results. In January, February, and March before the 4T program, her total income had been about $200. During the 4T program, which ran 12 weeks from April 4 to June 20, her income increased 2,000% to $4,000.

She admits the 4T program’s tithing part was a little difficult at first but as her income began climbing she knew she was on the right path and continues to tithe weekly.

Sylvia seeks areas where she can use her gifts and talents to help others. She hopes to inspire people re-garding the principles of the 4T program. Spirituality, like any other life challenges, “works if you work at it”. We always get out of something what we are willing to put into it.

Although she has taken courses and read personal development books most of her life, she firmly believes it is connecting to people of similar interests and phi-losophies that fosters the sense of oneness and be-longing not found in general society. She knows that being “broken in many places is meant to put us on our

Here at Unity you are more than a volunteer. You share in a minis-try where your gifts are realized and appreciated. We have a vari-ety of ways you can serve here at Unity. After the service recently, I

was so happy when two people ap-proached me to say they would like to share their gifts in our Children’s Ministry and our Healing Energy team.

As I often say, without U there would be no U-nity. We need U in Unity. So how can U be the U of Unity?

We have opportunities for you to share your gifts in our Children’s Ministry, our Kitchen Ministry, or be trained for our Audio Booth.

I would love to talk with you, and together discover where your gifts can be realized and appreciated.

What a wonderful summer I am having and I am even getting a suntan. I hope you have been en-joying it too.

This submission will be short as I would “rather be sailing”. lol

Just a couple of things to say in this issue:

The RED DOT SALE is coming soon. Watch for it. Think Christ-mas. Confused smile. Oh my...!

Did I just say Christmas? I want to say thank you to

my bookstore babes who have stepped in and filled the voids for each other during the summer holidays. They are a dedicated bevy of babes and I am happy they are here.

In Love and Light,

Spread the message of peace and prayer. This is an opportunity to support Unity’s World Day of Prayer in London Ontario. Rev. Lori and our Unity of London Prayer Chaplains invite all members of Unity and friends to gather on the patio side of Covent Market (King Street, west of Richmond) near Market Lane on Thursday, September 13 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

As Thursday is Vendor’s Day we hope to greet many market goers. We welcome anyone who wishes to wear a Unity “Free Hugs” T-shirt. A few shirts are still available in Large and Extra large sizes through the Book Store. Even if you choose not to wear a Unity shirt, you’re still wel-come.

Space and materials will be provided for anyone within Unity or from other faiths who wishes to create their own personal prayer. Prayer flags will be hung on our Prayer Line. We will display our London Unity banner, distribute business cards and information about Unity London. Enjoy this opportunity to create a positive public presence in our com-munity for 2 1/2 hours. - Pauline Duncan-Thrasher, Prayer Chaplain
