Beyond the Guidelines & Principles (G&P), look to the Accreditation Operating Procedures (AOP) and the Implementing Regulations (IRs) for guidance.
Students with Competence Problems
Clear written competency expectationseducate faculty early detection and early interventionprovide corrective remediation experiencedocument.
Influencing Administrators
Keep your eyes open for danger signs (e.g., program changes in staffing, college university climate, neglect, politics, “picking at the edges” of the program).
Business
TCP: Look for exciting special issues this year; new editor will be Lydia Buki with manuscripts in 2014
CoA: (a) On probation cases, there will be a response timeframe during which requirements are met or not. (b) Attend carefully to “broad & general” requirement (but not necessarily full courses). (c) G&P re-examination process has begun.
BEA: “E&T 4 HSP” work group; professional psychology vs. health service psychology. HSP competencies and Counseling Psychology.
Business
APPIC: Attend APPIC Conference—Quality Training Equals Quality Psychologists, April 26-28, Tempe, AZ. About 800 didn’t match in 2011 match; good response to Phase I and Phase 2 process in 2011.
ACCTA: effects of technology (Skyping in jammies; interviewing on cell phones while driving; Facebook); need more focus on case/change process conceptualization; honest DCT comments on APPI
Public Comment Opportunities: CRSPP petition; new IRs; HSP work group products.
Business
Run for CCPTP Executive Board.
Nominate for Student Award and Lifetime Achievement Award—volunteer to review.
Pay your dues.
Piloting MCAC accreditation.
