1 In 2003 Armenian Gevorg Avetisjan along with his sister founded the Czech company MARLENKA international Ltd.,which not only produces MARLENKA® honey cakes, but alsomany other honey desserts using their authentic old Armenian family recipes.

MARLENKA® products do not contain any preservatives or artificial colouring, Furthermore, they have been awarded KLASA,a seal of national quality. MARLENKA® products are producedin accordance with the strictest international standards for foodstuffsafety IFS and BRC. In producing this honey delight, only meticu-lously chosen, high-quality ingredients are used.

MARLENKA® has become a traditional sweet delicacy at everyCzech home, and in Armenia it has been called “a miracle fromhoney”. Let its unique taste sweep you off your feet, too.

Past and Present

2003In 2003, Marlenka’s founder Gevorg Avetisjan along with hissister Hasmik establish MARLENKA international s.r.o. and beginto make MARLENKA® honey cake, using an Old Armenianfamily recipe. The company has 1 employee.

2005In 2005, as production increases, thecompany expands to open a newproduction site.

2008In April of 2008, construction of a newproduction facility begins. The company has nowgrown to 200 employees, with the capability of producing 100,000 cakes each month.

2009In April of 2009, production begins in the new facility on a unique andoriginal production line specifically designed for the production ofMARLENKA® honey cakes.

Production Certificates and Awards

In 2003 Armenian Gevorg Avetisjan founded the companyMARLENKA international Ltd. in Frýdek-Místek, where helaunched the production of MARLENKA® honey cakes usinghis original family recipe. At first, the company had 1employee but, thanpcs to the escalating demand for its cakes,this number began to increase rapidly. As early as 2005,production commenced in a new facility, where 200employees soon worked in non-stop production. Even with thisgrowth, the supply of MARLENKA® honey cakes was notsufficient to meet the demand, so in 2008, construction of a brand new facility measuring 4000m2 started. The totalinvestment amount exceeded 300M CZK making it one of

the largest investments in the region. In Spring of 2009, theproduction of MARLENKA® began in the new facility usinga unique and an original production line that was specificallydesigned for the production of MARLENKA® honey cakes.Thanpcs to this fundamental expansion of productioncapacity, they also began manufacturing other honeyproducts using Old Armenian recipes.

MARLENKA® products are progressively expanding beyondthe borders of the Czech Republic, and are currently exportedto over 35 countries around the world. In May of 2013,immediately following the 10th birthday of the MARLENKA®

brand, construction of another production facility measuring3500m2 started. The production has begun to use newautomatized lines since December. The amount invested inthis project will reach 230M CZK.

Monthly, the factory produces over 130,000 MARLENKA®

cakes, 75,000 MARLENKA® Nuggets, 50,000 smallMARLENKA® cakes, 15,000 Napoleonky and 2,000 piecesof Pachlava. This represents more than 6,5 tons of honey, 18tons of flour, 18 tons of sugar, 1 ton of walnuts and a numberof other ingredients.

The basis of our company’s success is our commitment to produce products of the highest quality for a discriminating customer. The quality of our products isensured by our authentic recipe, our meticulous choice of ingredients, our careful processing, and our skillfulpackaging of the finished product. Our products are uniquein regards to their best-before date, too, which is quite

exceptional among confectionery products. We use nopreservatives or artificial colouring.

MARLENKA® products are produced in accordance with thestrictes international standards for foodstuff safety IFS andBRC. In producing this honey delight, only meticulouslychosen, high.quality ingredients are used. The high quality

of MARLENKA® products was also recognized by theMinistry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, which gave them an endorsement of the highest national quality, the KLASA seal. Also, MARLENKA® products received the award “Česká chuťovka” in recognition of theirquality and uniqueness.

300 years ago an Armenian Deodat arrived in Prague andfounded the first Armenian coffee lounge, which is evenmentioned in Rieger encyclopedia (1862, 2nd edition):Prague's first café keeper, born in Damascus, to parents of Armenian- Christian faith, initially walked the streets of Prague clad in Arabian,i.e. Turkish, vesture, holding a plank with a mug of boiled coffee on hishead and carrying a pan with hot coal in the right hand and a boxcontaining several buttons and some fine-grained sugar in the left hand.He was so good at selling, that he soon earned a burgess-ship andrented a spacious shop in the Old Town. He converted the said shopinto Prague's first bona-fide café, at the corner of Liliová and Jesuitskástreets, at No. 181 (called "u Kornovů ", or "The Golden Snake's")"..
