ne of the nice things about visiting the Salis- bury office of Peninsula Plastic Surgery is that its undeniable beauty always seems to put you in a tranquil mood. When Hurricane Sandy rolled into town last year, however, that previously unblemished aesthetic sus- tained something of a black eye. But Drs. Vincent Perrotta and Christopher Pellegrino took even that in stride, seeing it as an opportunity to restore, or even enhance, yet something else to its former state of beauty. Along with their practice’s administrator, Jennifer LeCates, and the rest of their skilled staff, they meticu- lously gave the Tuscan-style facility a facelift of its very own. “To begin with, we knocked down quite a few walls, both in the reception area and among the back offices. Then we reorganized to transfer some of the staff deeper into the facility,” explained LeCates, now in her third year at PPS. “All of this had the effect of making the environment not only more open and airy but also quieter for our patients. Though we did redesign and modernize the recep- tion area, added new window treatments and refurnished key areas of the practice, we made sure we retained the same Mediterranean Renaissance motif that has become something of a signature feature for us.” Maintaining their status as a state-of- the-art medical practice, however, meant that more than merely an upgrade in décor. They also installed a secure, HIPAA-compliant interactive patient por- tal in the reception area, at which patients may enter personal data, medical history, view before-and-after photos of other patients and even arrange for financing. The most exciting changes, however, come in the form of the elite practice’s range of services, now more comprehen- sive than ever before. The result is a truly state-of-the-art aesthetic medical practice, one which offers up-to-the-minute inva- sive, noninvasive and treatments for both the face and body, from head to toe. In addition to the highly touted and unsurpassed skill of their surgical tech- niques — most of which are performed in the privacy and convenience of their own onsite surgical suite — they offer time- tested facial-rejuvenation treatments, such as Botox, Juvederm and microdermabrasion. But that’s not all. Peninsula Plastic Surgery is now also on the cutting edge of such noninvasive face-and-body-enhancing laser modalities as CoolSculpting, Fraxel, Fractional CO2 laser, IPL and Pixel. As a logical complement to the emphasis PPS has placed on body sculpting and contouring, the doctors have also recently unveiled their weight-management division, which uses the latest and most effective techniques of diet, exercise and pharmacology in the achievement of dramatic yet long-lasting results. “Not every patient is a good candidate for surgery,” advised Julie Parrish, a physician’s assistant and one of multiple key additions to the staff of PPS, “so we’ve instituted the procedures and technology necessary to deliver the desired results to those patients, too.” Parrish officially joined PPS in August and will, among her other responsibilities, coordinate the breast 51 november-december 2013 AFTER THE STORM MIND, BODY, SOUL PENINSULA PLASTIC SURGERY 50 coastalstylemag.com O One year after Hurricane Sandy flooded their practice, Peninsula Peninsula Surgery is better than ever, with an enhanced complex, key staff additions and new innovations written by nick brandi photography by grant l. gursky Dr. Christopher Pellegrino and Dr. Vincent Perrotta in the new PPS reception area Emily Coleman Standing: Leslie Hooker and Jessica Moore Seated: Laurie Pearce, Jill Taylor, Jennifer DeVage Julianne Lodowski, Stephanie Vetra and Brooke Meredith Julie Parrish, P.A.-C Jennifer LeCates In addition to their vaunted medical techniques and services, PPS now has orchestrated the essential staff to ensure that the practice performs at the same industry-leading level, whether that’s technically, administratively or customer service-related.

In addition to their vaunted medical techniques and services, PPS now has orchestrated the essential staff to ensure that the practiceperforms at the same industry-leading level, whether that’s technically, administratively or customer service-related.

Page 2: AFTER THE STORM · lously gave the Tuscan-style facility a facelift of its very own. “To begin with, we knocked down quite a few walls, both in the reception area and among the

reconstruction program. She comes to the practice viaPhiladelphia University, where she’d earned a Bachelor ofScience degree and completed its distinguished PA programby age 22. A Salisbury native who graduated from ParksideHigh School, Parrish did a stint in a hospital ER before decid-ing to take her career in another direction.

“I loved the importance and immediacy of the work I wasdoing in the ER,” said Parrish, “but I eventually came to wantthe completeness and continuity of care that can be enjoyedin a private-practice setting. That desire and PPS’ reputationas the premier practice of its kind in the region are what ulti-mately brought me here.”

Julie is joined by Brooke Meredith, CNOR, a certified ORnurse. Having Brooke and Julie on staff means that PPS canprovide a level of pre- and post-operative care that has tradi-tionally been difficult, if not impossible, to achieve in otherhealthcare settings.

PPS has also welcomed Jan Newton to the team to overseePPS’ micropigmentation division, which was launched in the fall to provide services such as areola enhancement, scarcamouflaging and what’s called “permanent makeup.”

PPS even boasts its very own certified laser registerednurse, Julianne Lodowski. Along with coordinator LauriePearce, who joined to the PPS staff with 15 years of medicalindustry experience in the spring, Julianne will oversee andperform such laser-based procedures as Fraxel, IPL, hair removal, tattoo removal and skin resurfacing.

Add to all of this the spring introduction of the SkinMed-ica skincare line, as well as the impending launch of theirbold new breast-reconstruction division, and it’s clear thatthere are more exciting things happening at Peninsula PlasticSurgery than ever before.

It’s good to know that at least one positive thing came outof Hurricane Sandy.
