Series EP1217 / EP1227The EP1217 / EP1227 family of solid state motor timers are command systems

which employ a conformal coated, open panel circuit board assembly. The controls

include a digital timer circuit and integral air switch mounted to a double-sided

various motor end bell assemblies or for mounting in separate electrical enclosures.

This family of timers offer 10, 20, and 30 minute time delay periods as standard,

with other time delay periods available as options. All models feature reset capabil-

ity for additional time. Additionally, models are available for use with the Tec-

mark® EP1226 solid state, non-contact liquid level sensor.

Upon actuation of the PCB mounted air switch, the timer is started and the

load relay is energized, applying line voltage to the output terminal. The load

relay will de-energize when the time delay period expires, or if a second air

switch actuation occurs during the time delay period. In both cases, the load

relay is interrupted and the timer is reset.

Installation Instructions

Command Center

INSTALLATION

The Command Center® may be installed in any position and in most lo-cations, except DO NOT MOUNT UNDER WATER. When selecting a location to mount the Command Center®, consideration to its place-ment must be given based on the length limitations of the temperature sensing cable and cordset.IMPORTANT NOTE: To assure proper operation, the temperature sensing bulb must be installed correctly. ALWAYS USE A THER-MOWELL Failure to install the sensing bulb correctly could result in damage to the control or poor control response.

A) LOCATE COMMAND CENTER®

First consideration must be given to where the Command Center® is to be mounted. The maximum distance between the Command Center® and the thermowell is the total overall length of the sensing bulb and cable. We recommend that you allow at least 2” of play for easy access during installation and removal of the bulb from the thermowell.

B) MOUNTINGA peel and stick template is included.

1) Attach the template to the desired mounting surface and follow the instructions provided on the template for size and location of the cutout. After the cutout is complete, clean the mounting surface thoroughly with alcohol and let dry.

2) Remove the green liner from the gasket on the Command Center®, route the cordset and sensing bulb through the cutout, and install the

3) Optional mounting screws are available to secure the Command Center® if necessary.

C) THERMOWELL INSTALLATIONLocation of the thermostat sensing bulb is critical. If the thermowell is installed in the plumbing of the circulation system, then it must be between the spa and the inlet to the spa heater. (see Fig. A)As stated previously, ALWAYS USE A THERMOWELL to house the

of the thermostat sensing bulb is critical to control performance. For the best thermowell installation, see Fig. B. below.Tecmark® optional thermowells can be installed via 1/2-14 NPT threads. Proper spa temperature maintenance can be achieved only if the following points are considered:1) Thermowell is positioned before the heater to monitor only the spa water temperature. (See Fig. A)2) Sensing bulb and cable are not exposed to damage or extreme tem-perature. (See Fig*B)

4) Bulb is inserted all the way into the thermowell. (see Fig. C)

D) THERMOSTAT SENSING BULB INSTALLATIONInsert the temperature sensing bulb all the way into the thermowell. Tecmark® optional thermowells are supplied with a split grommet. Pull the grommet open, slide it over the sensing cable and press the small end of the grommet into the thermowell. (See Fig. C)

WARNINGTEMPERATURE SENSING CABLE MUST BE INSTALLED SO THAT IT IS NOT EXPOSED TO ACCIDENTAL CUTS, DAMAGE,

E) CONNECT CORDSET AND AIR HOSESPlug the molded male plug of the Command Center® into the female receptacle on the equipment pack cabinet. POWER SUPPLY MUST MATCH THE ELECTRICAL RATING ON THE COMMAND CENTER® LABEL. Attach either 1/8” I.D. or 1/16” I.D. air hose to the air buttons on the Command Center® and to the air switches in the equipment pack.NOTE: THE LENGTH OF AIR HOSE BETWEEN THE AIR BUTTONS AND AIR SWITCHES SHOULD BE LIMITED TO AN AMOUNT SUFFICIENT TO MAKE THE CONNECTION. ANY EXCESS LENGTH OF HOSE MAY RESULT IN POOR AIR TRANSMISSION.

F) FACEPLATE LABELRemove the backing from the faceplate label, handling the label by its edges. Install the label to the top surface of the Command Center® and carefully align it. Firmly press around all edges of the label to secure it into place.CAUTION: When cleaning the faceplate label, use mild soap only.

LectricAir®

Series SAFPACThe LectricAir® SAFPAC controls are air actuated electrical

switch systems that promote intrinsically safe control of electrical

devices. The SAFPAC control system is comprised of three basic

components: the plug-in the wall controller, the air transmitter,

and an interconnecting air hose. The SAFPAC control is available

with a single outlet or up to four female outlet receptacles. The

SAFPAC controller can be used with a variety of Tecmark’s pressure

transmitter and tubing combinations. When the transmitter is

depressed, air in the transmitter is displaced through rubber tubing

to an air switch or air switched timer housed in the plug-in-the-wall

controller box. The air switch completes or interrupts the electrical

circuit, turning on or off the electrical device, which has been

plugged into the controller’s grounded receptacle.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS:

Tecmark’s LectricAir® SAFPAC control provides on/off switching

for a large variety of electrical devices including scroll saws, dust

collectors, drill presses, routers, pumps, lights, garbage disposers and

more.
