Must take a minimum of ½ cup of either fruit, vegetable, or fruit and vegetable combined

Allowed to take smaller portions of the fruit and vegetable components only

The minimum creditable serving size for a fruit or a vegetable is 1/8 cup.

Fish taco includes ¼ c. fresh tomatoes Student selects the fish taco with 8 oz. milk This is not a reimbursable meal since the minimum ½ c. portion of the fruit or vegetable has not been met.

Student selects the fish taco (G,M/MA,V) and 8 oz. milk This is a reimbursable meal since the minimum ½ c. portion of fruit or vegetables has been met.

If you can answer “YES” to each question, then the meal is reimbursable!

Use of OVS in the SBP is optional at all grade levels.If a school operates breakfast under OVS:*At least four food items from the food components must be offered; and*All students, at any grade level, must select at least three food items in the applicable minimum required serving size*Beginning in SY 2014-15, one selection must be at least ½ c. of fruit.
