DIRECTORSDIRECTORSDIRECTORS

Dear Fellow Lot Owners/Friends:

A sincere welcome back to all-prepare for the best summer ever!!

Because of the very warm spring I have had the opportunity to talk to many owners already, and the enthusi-asm for being back is wonderful.

Hope everyone wintered well. I had a few items on my “to do” list, and am still working on them.

Two great vacations (the Irish know how to throw a party) result—a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Quit smoking: result—still working on it, but fresher breath. Lose 9 pounds: result—baggier pants. Considerably cut back on Scotch intake: result—many calls from panicked liquor store owners.

I hope new owners will take the time to introduce themselves, and that the veterans will introduce them-selves to their new neighbours.

Our social calendar is already pretty well booked up for the season, the Resort looks wonderful, and we have a long weekend ahead of us. Let’s prepare for the best year yet!

Points to Ponder:

An entire village decided to pray for rain. On the day of prayer all the people gathered, but only one boy came with an umbrella.

THAT IS FAITH.

When you throw a baby in the air she laughs because she knows you will catch her.

THAT IS TRUST.

Every night we go to bed without assurance we will be alive the next morning, but we still set the alarms to wake up.

THAT IS HOPE.

We plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future.

THAT IS CONFIDENCE.

We see the world suffering but still we get married and have children.

THAT IS LOVE.

On an old man’s Tee shirt was this written message— “I am not 80 years old; I am sweet 16 with 64 years experience”.

THAT IS ATTITUDE.

Have a happy and Carefree day, and live your life like these six little stories. Best regards

Dennis Herr Dennis Herr o/b/o Carefree Board of Directors

Note from Social— Greetings to all our Carefree owners, new and old – or should I say longer standing?? Just an update on

Social for the 2016 – 2017 season. Our calendar is filling up very fast. There may be one weekend left,

not booked, but I’m not even sure of that. Thank you to all the volunteers who have already been work-

ing to get their events organized.

Our first function, on May 28th, will be a pub/games evening. It will be at the clubhouse from 7:00 pm to

about 10:30 pm. I will bring different board games, and anyone who has games is welcome to bring

them along. Last year rummoli, crokinole, homemade sorry and 5 in a row were very popular. There are

no prepared teams. Feel free to come, grab a drink from the bar and play whatever suits you.

We have poker night(s), a wine appreciation evening, DJ dances, including a Stampede party and a Hal-

loween dance, and five weekends booked already with live bands for your summer enjoyment.

We ask for your continued support for our Adult Entertainment events by attending as early as 9:00 p.m.

These events are organized for your enjoyment and make up the majority of the Social’s budget. We

must finish our music by 12:30, so please make it worthwhile to have a live band by attending as early as

possible. Please remember that no personal liquor is allowed in the clubhouse and that disobeying with

could jeopardize our liquor permit.

I also wanted to review with everyone, the status of gaming at the resort. We do have a gaming license. If

anyone wants to hold a 50/50 or a draw etc., they have to follow the rules attached to our license. Each

event must have a special event permit. These are available at any registry office and would be applied

for by the persons holding the draw. All net proceeds must be given directly to an approved charity. For

example, I am going to hold a 50/50 draw at our first pub. The winner will get 50% of the proceeds and

after any costs (permits and tickets) have been deducted, we will be donating to the Red Cross for Fort

Mac relief. Please inform the office staff if you plan to hold a draw. They will then help with advice and will

expect the proceeds turned in so that Carefree can send a cheque to the charity. Thank you for following

these guidelines so that our license is never in jeopardy.

I’m looking forward to a fun-filled summer of activities. Please volunteer to help make all the activities

easier to run. Have a great summer.

BINGO ENTHUSIASTS It’s once again time to dig out those dabbers and join us for the first night of the 2016 season. Every Friday from the

May long weekend through the September long, volunteers organize this family event for Carefree residents and their

guests.

All profits from bingo go back to enhancing safety and/or children’s projects in the park. The most recent being the

speed signs along Marina Park to remind drivers to slow down and watch out for our youngest residents.

Special thanks to Marianne Nicholson, Paradise Realty, for donating Tim Hortons gift cards for the adult pre-bingo

game. See you there!
