With the restructuring of health care in the United States, one of themajor changes in patient care has been a shift from subspecialty careto primary care. In addition, cardiovascular disease remains the leadingcause of death and disability in the U.S. As a result, much of the burdenof caring for patients with cardiovascular disease will fall on primarycare physicians. This meeting is designed to provide an update in thediagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease for primary careproviders.

At the Cardiology in Primary Care Conference, you will hear fromnationally renowned speakers on a wide variety of topics. Areas offocus include stress testing, heart disease in women, lipid-loweringtherapy, atrial fibrillation, post-hospital discharge cardiac care, peripheralvascular disease and many others. Case discussions with expert panelswill also highlight key concepts in cardiovascular disease.

�� Understand how an ICD works and identify when it maybe malfunctioning

�� Better appreciate the challenges of caring for elderly patientswith cardiovascular disease

�� Better understand how to manage congestive heart failure inan outpatient setting
