Institutional framework
Responsible governmental institution for biodiversity:
•Ministry of Environmnetal and Nature Protection (MENP)•State Institute for Nature Protection (SINP)•Stakeholders: other ministries and public institutions, NGOs, scientific institutions
•EEA NFP – Croatian Environment Agency (CEA)
established in June 2002 by Governmental regulation, as a public institution

Environmental Protection Act (O.G. 80/2013)
The Agency - cooperate with the EEA and report in accordance with the requirements of the EIONET.
The activities of the Agency include: -Obligation for preparation of the state of environment report every 4 years based on the set of environmental indicators
-Developing the National indicator list on the basis of special regulations and international treaties, taking into account specific requirements for the environmental protection. NLI regularly updated and published at the website of the CEA.

Cooperation with EEA:
CEA to participate in EIONET since 2004CEA coordinates reporting under EEA Priority Data Flows/ CDDA
(Common Database on Designated Areas) and uploads database on CDR Croatia. Database is provided by SINP and Ministry of Environment and Nature Protection.

• The National list of indicators includes prescriptions on the time dynamics of data collection, format, source and mode of data flow.
• The proposal of the list was coordinated with the EEA in order to align it with the SEBI set of indicators.
• The methodology to develop biodiversity indicators in Croatia was also developed.
