DUB22 TRSTENO, STON & ISLAND OF KORČULA Full-Day

Trsteno is a picturesque village well-

known for its magnificent, centuries-old

sycamores and rich botanical garden.

After a visit to the botanical garden, the

drive continues to Ston, a historical

town on the Pelješac Peninsula.

Surrounded by stone walls five

kilometers long, Ston, which was

established in 1358, is one of the

world’s first towns to be built according to a definite urban plan. In Ston, explore

the town and visit the “Fields of Salt.” Continue to Orebic to board the ferry to Korčula. Legend has it that Korčula was the

birthplace of Marco Polo (a principle character in Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities) and that the Trojan hero, Antenor, founded the

city. A long and turbulent history has left its traces, which can be seen with the first steps taken along the lovely paved streets

of this city. In Korčula, enjoy a walking tour of the Old Town that includes visits to the Cathedral of St. Mark, with paint ings by

A small village located in Bosnia and

Herzegovina, Medugorje is a unique

phenomenon in the modern world. It

received international attention when, in

1981, six children who were playing

together between the villages of

Medugorje and Bijakovici claimed that

an apparition of the Virgin Mary

appeared to them. As a result of their

claims, Medugorje has seen more than 20 million visitors since 1981, becoming

the second largest Catholic pilgrimage site in the world. Travel from Dubrovnik approximately 85 miles (137 kilometers) to visit

the town of Medugorje and climb the path that leads to the now-famous Apparition Hill, where the children supposedly saw

their first vision. You will also have the opportunity to attend Mass at the local church, explore the area, or enjoy lunch on your

own.

Please note: This day trip requires a manifest and for each person to carry his/her passport; therefore, participants cannot sell

or exchange tickets for this trip. For those nationalities requiring a pre-issued visa for Croatia, a multiple-entry Croatia visa is

required for this trip. All visa requirements are the sole responsibility of the participant. Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are

DUB23 MOSTAR Full-Day

The historic capital of Herzegovina,

Mostar is currently Bosnia and

Herzegovina’s fifth largest city. Travel

four hours by motorcoach to reach this

captivating city nestled in a

mountainous region along the Neretva

River, across which spans the famous

Stari Most—the bridge for which the

town itself was named (Mostar means

“Keeper of the Bridge”). Designed by Ottoman architect Mimar Hayruddin, the

“Old Bridge” was originally constructed over nine years and completed in 1556. It stood for 427 years until it was destroyed

during the war in 1993. Residents, determined to replicate the original bridge as closely as possible, used 16th century

methods and cut stones by hand to reconstruct the anomalies of the original. Visit this landmark, which reopened in 2004 as

a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guided tour will also include visits to the 350-year-old Turkish House and the Old Bazaar

Kujundziluk, the oldest part of the city, where Turkish shops are located and local artisans and vendors display their wares.

Following the tour, enjoy some free time for strolling around, browsing the many craft shops, or having lunch in one of the

picturesque local restaurants.

DUB24 MONTENEGRO DAY TRIP – GROUP A Full-Day

Montenegro is one of the world’s last

undiscovered secrets. First mentioned

by its original name, Crna Gora, in 1276,

Montenegro is believed to have earned

its name due to the dark forests that

covered Mount Lovcen, making the

mountain appear black. Such exotic

landscapes are not always distant and

unapproachable. Only a one-hour drive

from Dubrovnik, this neighboring country offers an unforgettable experience:

exceptional natural beauty combined with rich history and culture. In a land where the mountains descend almost directly into

the sea, enjoy the surreal atmosphere of Kotor Bay, situated on southern Europe’s largest fjord. The walled medieval city is a

UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the bay area was a common stop for sailors and traders of old. Then proceed toward the

mountains to Cetinje, a previous capital of Montenegro, which lies at the base of Mount Lovcen. Return to the coast to visit

Budva with its enticing combination of coveted beaches, bay islands and cultural heritage. The Old Town lies on a peninsula

crisscrossed with narrow streets containing several churches, shops, cafés and galleries.

Please note: This day trip requires a manifest and for each person to carry his/her passport; therefore, participants cannot sell

DUB25 SPLIT 3 days/ 2 nights

The beautiful seaside city of Split is one of Croatia’s most fascinating places to visit. Beaches on the southern side of the

peninsula and the lively waterfront promenade are only part of the reason Split is a vacation destination for many Europeans.

At the city center are the impressive remains of Roman Emperor Diocletian’s vast, fortified palace built in 295. Within the

palace complex stands one of two black granite Egyptian sphinxes, dating from around 15 BCE, which originally flanked the

entrance to Diocletian’s mausoleum. Converted to a cathedral, it is one of architecture’s great ironies since Diocletian was

known primarily for his violent persecution of Christians. In addition to the palace and cathedral, you will visit Split’s

Archaeological Museum and the Meštrovic Gallery that was the home of

Croatia’s most famous 20th-century sculptor, Ivan Meštrovic (1883-1962).

This trip also includes a full-day visit to Krka Waterfalls National Park and

surrounding area. View the multitude of waterfalls and observe the numerous

lakes and deep canyons or take a swim in the pools at the lower falls. On the

islet of Visovac, visit a Franciscan monastery situated at the spot where the

Krka River widens into a lake.

Plenty of free time in the evenings and morning of day 3 for independent

pursuits. On the return trip to Dubrovnik, there will be a brief stop in Makarska

and a visit to the Seashell museum.

This trip takes you to a typical village in the fertile

Konavle Valley, the southern region of Croatia. You will

visit the charming little town of Cavtat, once a large

Greek and later Roman colony. Destroyed by the Slavs

in the seventh century, it never regained its

importance. Today, it is a seaside resort reminding one

of the small towns on the French Riviera. You will visit

the Bigišic collection with works of art, handicrafts, and

archaeological artifacts. If you wish, climb the hill

overlooking the town (125 steps) to visit the

mausoleum of the Racic family, a masterpiece of architecture constructed in 1922 by Croatia’s

famous sculptor, Ivan Meštrovic. Lunch will be at the Konavoski Dvori restaurant, situated on the

This tour takes you to a

typical village in the fertile

Konavle Valley, the

southern region of Croatia.

You will visit the charming

little town of Cavtat, once a

large Greek and later

Roman colony. Destroyed

by the Slavs in the seventh

century, it never regained its importance. Today, it is a seaside resort reminding

one of the small towns on the French Riviera. You will visit the gallery of the artist Mijo Šiša and then the mlinci (old mills)

located in the Konavoski Dvori restaurant, which is situated on the River Juta and surrounded by natural beauty. These stone

mills, which were operated by water, were once used to grind wheat to make flour. Following sightseeing in the park, visit the

ancient house of Glavic where a simple lunch will be served.
