Fair Education Conference in Sydney this week is part of our 3 year program focussed on Parent Engagement in student learning and Championing STEM. We continue to work with the Small Schools to improve and grow our strategies. The theme Connect, Challenge and Extend was about transformative practices to support schools to better engage families and communities to improve student outcomes. The enabling factors include clear communication and information sharing; partnerships between parents, students and schools to promote learning, wellbeing and high expectations; developing relationships in the community to support the goal; school decision making has meaningful roles for parents, students and community; respectful school culture values parents, parents and the community and promotes student learning and wellbeing. Next week we continue to develop our understanding of deep learning and the impact that Project Based Learning can have on student ownership of their learning so that they are engaged and challenged. Parents and students and community members are invited to a workshop to support the development of our next project for the school to develop up the back. Date: Friday 20 September 2.00 – 4.00pm (tbc) Discussions with student groups have identified a range of ideas and now along with parents, we can begin to bring the planning components together. If you are interested in: gardening to supply foods for the canteen and Market BBQ, or building a cubbyhouse and outdoor learning area etc… then this is it! Please come along and share your expertise with us.

Unfortunately, the submission for the upgrade to the Tennis Shed which supports the Pre School, Play group and sporting clubs was unsuccessful this round. The successful submissions for this area were Eden Fitness Trail and Restoration of the Tuross Head Car Park. They attracted more votes! Thank you to everyone who voted for the Candelo Kids project we will continue to access other opportunities to secure funding.

Tell Them From Me Semester 2 surveys will take place for Years 4 – 6 on Friday 20 September. We will have some surveys available for parents and teachers as well to receive feedback about a range of school areas.

P&C News The next P&C meeting will be held Wednesday 18 September at 6.30pm

Congratulations to the P&C for their hard work to ensure a hugely successful fundraising BBQ at the Bike Show in Bega last Saturday. Thank you to Sherryn and Greg, Tim, Ancret, Robyn, Nathan, Steve, Edan, Neil and Zoe who did a fantastic job knowing that the fundraiser supports all students to access excursions and will provide new readers for Stage 2. Your hard work is greatly appreciated and is so important.
