We are well into planning for our end of year activities and for 2018. Please look out for Party Day notes. Children in Years 3-6 will be going to Magic Mountain and children in K-2 will be going to the movies to see “Ferdinand” followed by a picnic at Spencer Park. We will all be catching the same bus which will leave after the morning bell and return in time for the afternoon buses. At today's assembly David Foster from Pambula Mitre 10 came to present a donation to our school. This generous donation has supplied us with all the components we need to build a watering system for our vegetable garden! The watering system has been designed by 3B as part of our STEM unit and will be built by the class over the next three weeks. Mitre 10 have also donated compost, gardening gloves, garden trowels, watering cans and a wheel barrow to support our school gardening program. Thank you Mitre 10 Pambula! Miss Watchirs, our new K/1 teacher for next year, dropped in to meet us earlier in the week. She really enjoyed her visit and is very excited to be teaching here from 2018. As mentioned earlier. Kids In2Uni program for children in Year 6 was held at the Bega campus of Wollongong Uni. It was a fantastic day where we had the opportunity to learn about careers such as engineering, nursing and teaching. We also explored how our brain learns and what life as a university student is like. Thank you to Jamal and Paul for assisting with transport. Spanish Lessons: The children and teachers are really enjoying these lessons. We will be holding our 4th lesson this Friday morning. Ask your child to share what they are learning with you. This is also great practise for them. Gracias! Student Invoices come home today. Included in the invoice are fees for the end of year activities of Magic Mountain and the Movie and Beach Party. If there are inclusions in the Student Invoice that you believe are incorrect please come into the office or call to have these investigated.

2M Christmas Stall is planned for Monday 4 December. It is coming to that very busy time of year, and even though it is busy we must not forget that Christmas is the time for giving.

Thank you to the families that have already donated items – but we still need more. Please keep the donations coming in.

All proceeds from the stall will go towards helping communities in need through the OXFAM organisation. If you have any items at home please bring them into the School Office. Children will be able to purchase these items from the stall at very reasonable prices. (.50c - $5:00)

Scripture continues this term each Thursday at 12.45. The last Scripture class for this year will be held on Thursday 7 December. The non-scripture class is supervised, children participate in reading, private study tasks or homework tasks. The Reluctant Dragon DVD’s can now be ordered from the Office for just $10 – get your copy of the School Play now! You can still purchase a DVD of the 2016 performance Into the Woods for just $5

SPORT The Intensive Swimming Scheme will conclude tomorrow. It has been a pleasure to witness how much the children have improved in their ability. For the next 2 Friday afternoons, children in 2-6 will continue to do swimming for sport.

MUSIC

Our choir practice for Carols by Candlelight is progressing well. It is lovely to have our School Band accompanying us as we sing. A big thank you to Merryl Whitby who’s dedication to teaching music has seen the numbers in our school band increase. I look forward to their performances on Presentation Night and Carols by Candlelight.

Class 1W News:

On Tuesday we had a visit from Harrison Warne who spoke to the class about lizards and snakes. He was very impressed with all their fantastic facts and interesting questions. We then had a talk and demonstration on drones.

This week we have enjoyed writing about Bilbies and making slide shows. The class are very proud of their new technology skills and I enjoyed the collaboration and leadership skill many students showed.

We are planning a very short, fun play for presentation night, notes about costumes and lines to learn will be coming home shortly. The costumes are flexible so I will be trying to match children with possible outfits they have at home. Please help your child learn their lines as the performance will be Week 9!!!

We are excited about our end of year party, parents are very welcome to join us for the picnic at Spencer Park, please check that permission notes have been returned.

Keep up the fantastic home reading and remember to practice rapid recall of combinations to 10.

Catriona Warne. Class 2M News:

During Term 3 Kathleen (Ivy’s Mum) came in each week to teach the children how to knit. After 10 fun weeks we had made many squares and with Kathleen’s expertise we were able to create this very unique colourful blanket!

It has been fantastic to see all the growth of our swimmers over the past two weeks. It’s a tiring job heading to the pool every day and learning lots of new safety and survival swimming skills. Well done to all the children for putting in so much effort!

The children have been undertaking their end of year assessments and it is so pleasing to see how they have all grown over the year.

Student’s Spanish language pronunciation and comprehension has been expanding greatly and we have only been in lessons for a few weeks. It’s fantastic to see the effort they all apply.

Thank you to those children who have brought in supplies for our Oxfam Christmas Stall. 2M will be hosting the stall on the Monday 4th of December. All funds raised from the day will support communities in need.

Awards this Week:

Great growth in swimming: Chelsea, Lilly, May, Ruby H, Joshua and Taylah Contributions to class discussions: Hayden and Oliver
