Class 1R Report

In K/1 we have had lots of visitors into our classroom, last week we had preschool children come and visit to make Christmas craft and yesterday we had Jake from Commonwealth Bank develop our financial literacy skills. Today we went to Merimbula to go on a Fresh Food Discovery Tour, do a fun fitness class with Tarryn Lucas and enjoy play time at Ford Park in Fishpen.

Next week on Thursday we have our school play and we have a special role in the play as forest animals. Thank you for all your kind words and support, Mum is doing well and hopefully will be out of hospital in the next couple of weeks.

This week we are showcasing some wonderful writing in the newsletter, below is Emily's beginning of a creative story about dragons and Jahla's piece about 'When I Grow Up'. When I grow up When I grow up I want to be a Vet because I can help cats and dogs and travel around the world to live in a house. I want to be a Teacher when I grow up. It will be a Kindy, it will be fun teaching and a Zookeeper because you can be rich and pat my favourite animals. You will be rich because you will be giving a lot of money you will like it. Jahla Condon, Year 1 Licalacu the Dragon Once upon a time, there was a dragon and his name was Licalacu. He lived in a cave in Crystal Mountain. Everyday he goes out into the forest to hunt for food. One day he got stuck. A little girl from the city named Lilly saw Licalacu and said "Do you need some help?" "Yes" Licalacu said. Lilly said as she helped Licalacu "My name is Lilly, what's yours?" "My name is Licalacu." Emily Wild, Kindergarten

Class 2M Report This week in 2M we are very excited about our upcoming performance; Shrek. Costumes are being tried on, sewn and adjusted. We’re practicing singing, dancing and acting.

Thank you for sending in cardboard for your child’s project, I think everyone has some now. We’re working hard on these projects in class, learning how to research and how to create, format and save documents on the school’s system. The student’s work will be displayed in the hall during Presentation Night in Week 10.

Unfortunately, our usual swimming program has been postponed until Term 1 2020, when the Candelo Pool should again be open. This term we will travel to Bemboka for swimming on Friday the 6th and 13th of December. Please ensure that your child has returned their note, attached to the last newsletter, if you haven’t already done so.

On Tuesday we were visited by Jake from Commonwealth Bank. We had a lot of fun learning about the difference between needs and wants and “to speed to our needs, but wait for our wants.” Jake was very impressed by the 2M children’s beautiful manners and enthusiastic participation. They are a fantastic group of children!

Awards Hayley: Outstanding achievement in reading and comprehension. Saphira: Excellent participation during whole class activities. Ivy: Fantastic effort in drama and dance. Beau: Excellent work on your animal protect

Class 3BJ Report Assessments inform our knowledge of the strengths and needs of each child in the class. The reports will include the goals that need to be set to manage necessary improvement in areas of numeracy and literacy. It is a very rewarding process having one to one time with each child.

The commitment to Shrek JR by the children has been outstanding. We have discovered some beautiful confident singing voices and some very brave and hard working actors. We are looking forward to a rehearsal on Sunday to check costumes and stage directions with the props in place, thank you parents for supporting this program. The children are aware of the hard work by the staff and Kathleen Brewster creating some of the costumes. Please organise grandparents and friends to come along to the matinee on Thursday 5 December at 1.00pm to see our shining stars! And of course we look forward to seeing each of you at the evening concert.

Thank you to Jo Oastler who has been volunteering to support literacy and numeracy skills in our classroom.

STEM reports have been absolutely wonderful with such a variety of projects. Thank you to parents for your support and for the children who have followed up this assignment. We will continue presentations next week of something the children have been working at home that they can share with the class.

FOGO is working well in our class. How is it going at home?

The children have enjoyed FEAST workshops with Mrs Johnson, it was exciting to see the children take the recipes home and start using those leftovers in their cooking.

Clay modelling and drawing 3D shapes using isometric dot paper has been done very well this week.

Awards STEM projects: Ruby H, Jessica, Ruby G, Emma and Jasmine for outstanding commitment and delivery of their project to the class.
