GOOD THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES

BIBLE THOUGHT: “DON’T LET ANYONE LOOK DOWN ON YOU BE-CAUSE YOU ARE YOUNG; BUT SET AN EXAMPLE FOR THE BELIEVERS IN SPEECH, IN CONDUCT, IN LOVE, IN FAITH, AND IN PURITY. DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR GIFT” (1 TIMOTHY 4:12, 14, NIV).

HAVE YOU ever known a spiritually gifted child, a child like Josiah, Judah’s most godly king after his ancestor, King David? Have you ever marveled at the insights of one as young as eight years old in whom God obviously had placed a special ability to make a difference? Better yet, have you ever had such a child placed in your sphere of influence and had the opportunity not only to recognize but to encourage his/her gifts?

The child upon whom you focus likely will not be crowned royalty, but may be as instru-mental as Josiah in bringing God’s people back to Him. Our political, educational, and business leaders were once children! What could we be doing as followers of God to be the lookout for (and to be grooming) those in whom God has placed extraordinary potential so that when their natural leadership qualities rise to the top, they not only will be ready to lead but will be prepared to lead people, companies or nations toward God?

Do you know such a child? Is there a Josiah living at your house? If so, encourage that child to recognize and to follow God’s plan for their life.

Sing “How Shall the Young Secure Their Hearts”

Dear Father, each child in our lives is a blessing and has potential for enlarging the king-dom, but some have potential for making a significant difference. Help us to recognize and to encourage them to achieve their destiny. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
