Project Profile

Inline with India commitment to Paris Accord for global warming limiting and India

pledge to reduce emission intensity of GDP by 33%–35% by 2030 below 2005 levels :

• Inox commenced the journey for Energy Conservation and Carbon Foot Print

reduction in its multiplexes

•HVAC had major energy consumption in their Multiplexes and decided to target this

area to reduce energy consumption

•Energy Audit was carried out to find and implement advanced technology in this field

• INOX had an existing Multiplex theatre at Mumbai prime location – Nariman Point.

They wanted to convert this into India’s First 7-Star Experience multiplex with

LASERPLEX Technology

• Invited Armstrong to provide solution on pumping

Project Details – INOX Nariman Point

• HVAC plant Details

✓ Peak Load : 240 TR

✓ Installed Chiller Tonnage : 360 TR

✓ Configuration : Air Cooled Chillers – 2 working and 1 standby

• Pumping System – 4 Pumps of 15 HP each at Constant Speed

✓ Configuration 2 working and 2 Standby – 240 GPM @ 98ft

✓ As per design one pump is supposed to cater to one chiller, but in actual operation

✓ During summer 3 pumps were operating with two chillers

✓ Rest of the year 2 pumps were operating for one chiller

•Air Handling Units(AHU)

✓ With 3 Way Modulating Valves

Solution Applied

Change the current plant configuration from

constant primary system to variable primary flow system

Requirements:

•Replace existing 4 constant speed pumps with 3 Design

Envelope Pumps with built-in redundancy

•3-way valves at the AHU to be changed to 2-way

to allow variable flow.

• Introduce variable primary flow control system

•Add Bypass line in the plant room with modulating Valve.

Advantages of Design Envelope Solution

• Less shutdown time –to implement the new solution

• Easy installation – no DP Sensors, no flowmeters.

• Less controls complexity-Design envelope IPS 4501 Variable Primary flow controller

making use of senseless technology to control the pumps and bypass valve.

• Lower payback period.
