Dear Camp Fire Families,

Welcome to the 2011 season at Camp Tanadoona! We can't wait for this summer's amazing lineup of programs and activities at Tanadoona and our adventures to Camp Bluewater in Minnesota's beautiful Northwoods.

In addition to another great year of summer camp, we will see the beginnings of some major renovations in 2011. We have begun a $1.5 million capital campaign for Camp Tanadoona. This is an opportunity for us to reinvest in a place we all love, make it greener, cleaner and more fun while preserving its unique rustic charm.

I'm delighted to report we have more than half of the funds for this campaign committed. These improvements will mean a better camp for you and your family, more opportunities to use the camp throughout the year, buildings that suit the camp's needs better, and a more welcoming and inviting space for everyone. With your help this capital campaign will help us serve you better than ever before.

If you have any questions about Camp Fire or the work going on around Camp Tanadoona, I'm always available to chat. Thanks again for being a part of the Camp Fire Family and we'll see you this summer!

Welcome families,

I am as excited for my 5th summer at Tanadoona as I was

my very first! Having spent almost a quarter of my life

at Tanadoona, and much longer than that working with

children, I'm ready for another amazing year.

When I am not at camp (during the off-season), I teach

English at the high school level which I absolutely love

doing.

Tanadoona is special for many reasons, not least of which

are our international counselors. I can't wait to meet our new counselors

from across the globe right here at Tanadoona!

Hello all!

It's hard to believe this will be my 7th summer at Camp

Tanadoona. Each summer I find something new and

wonderful here to fall in love with and I'm sure this

summer will be the best yet.

Outside camp, I work with children at schools and at an

Environmental Learning Center. But nothing compares

to the magic at Tanadoona. I can't wait for summer to

begin and the chance to connect new campers with

nature, their world, and new friends. Katherine "Idgie" Sundeen

Camp families can donate to this fund using the registration form. Donations are tax deductible. Thank you for helping more youth have the chance for positive outdoor experiences.

CaBIn mate requests for overnIght CamPOvernight Campers may request ONE (1) friend to share a cabin with at camp. This cabin mate should fall in the same age category* and gender. Each day, campers move between groups for different activities. This helps everyone get to know each other. If registering for multiple sessions with different cabin mates, please indicate the week for each cabin mate.

Buddy requests for day CamPDay Campers may request ONE (1) friend to be paired with at camp. This buddy should be the same age* and registered for the same session (i.e. Week B-Day Camp PLUS!: Forest Explorers). Buddies spend most of the day together. We ask that you only request one buddy; having more than one can disrupt the group dynamics and lead to children feeling left out. If registering for multiple sessions with different buddies, please indicate the week for each buddy.

* Special arrangements can be made. Please contact the camp director at (612) 285-6244 for further information.

CamP store PolICIesAll campers will have the opportunity to purchase snacks and souvenirs from the camp store. Items available include Tanadoona gear, stuffed animals, freezy pops, drinks and other snacks. Campers will be able to visit the camp store each day.

Parents/guardians may deposit money in their child’s camp store account during registration or camper check-in. If necessary, parents should submit any special instructions for the account to Camp Fire in writing prior to or during check-in.

Parents/guardians will be notified of any balance remaining in their child’s camp store account at the end of the camp season. Parents/guardians may choose to donate their balance to the Camp Fire Campership Fund or have their balance refunded. Balances at or below $5 will be automatically donated to the Camp Fire Campership Fund. All refunds will be subject to a $1.50 administrative fee.
