Aurin, '14ba, '15ma, retiring president of the American Association of Petroleum Geolo- gists, suggested to oil company representatives at- tending an A.A .P.G . meeting in Fort Worth in April that oil companies pool their geological infor- mation about certain areas in order to facilitate exploitation . Mr . Aurin said that sometimes as many as ten companies are interested in the same region, yet each one works alone . Pooling of in- formation, Mr . Aurin suggested, "will result in better discovery and will speed wartime drilling of wildcat wells." ~1917 Josh Lee, '17ba, former U .S . senator now on the Civil Aeronautics Board, made an extensive tour of eastern airline bases by plane in April . His flight took him from Washington to Wilming- ton, Delaware, Pittsburgh, New York and Boston . At one point in the journey Mr . Lee handled the controls of the plane for a few minutes and com- mented that he may yet become "a flying fool from Oklahoma ." -1919- Clifford C. Meyer, '19ba, is a junior instructor in the Army Air Force Technical Training School in Amarillo, Texas . 1 4 '-'1921 Dewey Beeson, '20-71, social science instructor and student employment director at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, died April 15 at Weatherford . He was 44 years old . Mr . Beeson was Kiowa County school superintendent before joining the Southwestern staff in 1939 . Former vice presi- dent of the Oklahoma Education Association, he was a member of the American Legion, the Reserve Officers Association and the Masonic order. Surviv- ors include his wife and a son and daughter . -1922- Frank T. Clark, '22eng, retired on May 1 from his position as West Texas district geologist with the Cities Service Oil Company in Odessa, Texas . Mr. Clark was formerly from Guymon . Wesley H. Seifert, '22eng, formerly a geophysi- cist in Dallas, has moved to Edna, Texas . -1923- Clarence M. Mills, '231aw, Oklahoma County district judge, received in April the Silver Star he was awarded for gallantry in the St . Mihiel offen- sive in France in 1918 . He received a citation for the same action in February, 1924 . Judge Mills, who held the rank of sergeant in World War I, participated in the battles of the Aisne, the Marne, St. Mihiel, Champagne and Meuse-Argonne . He was informed that he is also entitled to the Army Occupation of Germany Medal, but will not re- ceive it until after this war . George C. Wells, '23ed, formerly of Oklahoma City, is with the United States Department of the Interior in Pierre, South Dakota . - 1924- REAVIS-HENDERSON : Announcement has been made of the wedding last October 19 of Miss Fannie Reavis and Sgt . Nat Henderson, '22224 , both of Stigler, in Manhattan, Kansas . Mrs . Hen' took nurse's training at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Sergeant Henderson, for- mer county attorney of Haskell County, was sta- tioned in Denver, Colorado, where the couple were at home . -1925- Jack Bell, '25journ, former Oklahoma City news- paperman now with the Associated Press in Wash- ington, D .C ., was a member of the committee of Washington newspapermen which protested the government ruling in regard to coverage of the United Nations Food Conference at Hot Springs, Virginia, last month. The committee maintained that the presidential order barring newsmen from the conference was an abridgement of freedom of the press. Mr. Bell was recently cited by Kent Coop- er, general manager of the Associated Press, for the excellence of his work during the last year . OVERFIELD-RUNYAN : Miss Margaret Over- field, '25ba, Pawhuska, and Estil H . Runyan, Ober- lin, Kansas, were married in April at Manhattan, Kansas . Mrs . Runyan was employed as a welfare worker in Independence, Kansas, before her mar- riage. Mr . Runyan is associated with the Stanolind Oil Company at Oberlin, where the couple are at home. Drama students of the Panama Canal Zone Jun- ior College, under the direction of Subert Turby- fill, '25fa, '266a, '32ma, presented The Moon is Down, John Steinbeck's drama of Nazi occupa- tion, in March. Two performances were given, one in Balboa and one in Cristobal . -1926- BRANTLEY - JOHNSTON : Miss Margaret Brantley, and Capt. J. Ronald Johnston, '261aw, both of Tulsa, were married April 23 at Claremore. Mrs . Johnston attended the University of Tulsa where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority . Captain Johnston, member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, was a Tulsa attorney before he entered the Army. He was stationed at Sheppard Field, Texas . A volume of poetry, Prairie Symphonies, by Alice Moyer, '26ed, Enid school teacher, was recently published by the Henry Harrison Publishing Com- pany in New York City . Kenneth Kaufman, in a review of the book in the Daily Oklahoman, men- tioned the poems "To an Unknown Bird," and "Evening in the Gloss Mountains," as being par- ticularly noteworthy . An earlier collection of poems by Miss Moyer, Oklahoma Reveries, was published in 1941 . -1927- Ernest M. Hawkins, '276us, Oklahoma City post office inspector for the last 11 years, has been appointed a roving inspector of the armed forces mail service . One of six such postal department inspectors, Mr . Hawkins' work will take him to South America, Africa and Asia . -1928- Elgin L . Shaw, '28eng, formerly of Tyrone, Oklahoma, assistant aircraft engineer with the Broadcasts to Persia Ahmad Saidi, '356a, a native of Iran and chief of the Persian desk of the Office of War Informa- tion in New York City, was the first staff member of O .W.I . to organize and broadcast a short-wave program to Persia . Since graduating from the Uni- versity, Mr . Saidi has been connected with the Persian legation in Washington, the Office Scholaire of the Persian government, and the American In- stitute for Iranian Art and Archeology. In 1937 he received his master's degree from George Wash- ington University in Washington, D.C . Goodyear Zeppelin Corporation of Akron, Ohio, was listed in a recent edition of Who's Who in Aeronautics . He is also an instructor in aeronau- tical engineering at the University of Akron . Mr . Shaw has been with the Goodyear company as a research engineer since 1930 . His home is in Cuya- hoga Falls near Akron. COVEY-WOOD : Miss Edythe Covey and Judge Lawrence A . Wood, '281aw, both of Chickasha, were married April 23 . Mrs . Wood, who attended Oklahoma College for Women, was a government employee in Washington, D .C . before her mar- riage .
