Gospel LessonMatthew 6:25-34 (CEB)

“Therefore, I say to you, don’t worry about your life, what you’ll eat or what you’ll drink, or about your body, what you’ll wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body

more than clothes? Look at the birds in the sky. They don’t sow seed or harvest grain or gather crops into barns. Yet your heavenly Father

feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than they are? Who among you by worrying can add a single moment to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? Notice

how the lilies in the field grow. They don’t wear themselves out with

work, and they don’t spin cloth. But I say to you that even Solomon in all of his splendor wasn’t dressed like

one of these. If God dresses grass in the field so beautifully, even though

it’s alive today and tomorrow it’s thrown into the furnace, won’t God do much more for you, you people

of weak faith? Therefore, don’t worry and say, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ Gentiles long for all these

things. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them. Instead, desire first and foremost God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all

these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, stop worrying about

tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has

enough trouble of its own.

HomilyDon’t Worry ‘Bout a Thing

Music for ReflectionWhere Your Treasure Is

(sung twice)

Where your treasure is, there your heart shall be.

All that you possess will never set you free.

Seek the things that last; come and learn from me.Where your treasure is,

your heart shall be.

Prayers of the People Rev. Jonathan Heifner

Peace of Christ The Gift of Love

English melody, arr. Linda R. Lamb

Holy Communion -World Communion DayThe Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is right, and a good and joyful thing,

always and everywhere to give thanks to you,Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth.

You have made from one every nation and people

to live on all the face of the earth.

And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven

we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

Page 4: Call to Worship Hymn of Praise to the Triune God You Are My ......Holy Communion - World Communion Day The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ.

By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection

you gave birth to your Church, delivered us from slavery

to sin and death, and made with us a new covenant

by water and the Spirit. He commissioned us to be his witnesses

to the ends of the earth and to make disciples

of all nations, and today his family in all the

world is joining at his holy table.

On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took bread,

gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples,

and said:“Take, eat; this is my body

which is given for you.Do this in remembrance of me.”

When the supper was over he took the cup,

gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said:

“Drink from this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant,

poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,

we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving

as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us,

as we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here,

and on these gifts of bread and wine.

Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ,

that we may be for the world the body of Christ,

redeemed by his blood.

Renew our communion with your Church throughout the world,

and strengthen it in every nation and among every people

to witness faithfully in your name.By your Spirit make us

one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory,

and we feast at his heavenly banquet.

Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church,

all honor and glory is yours, almighty Father (God),

now and for ever.

Amen.

Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come,

thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power,

and the glory, forever. Amen.
