You’ll need to export your finished document in PDF/X-3 format with the document bleed settings turned on. Further directions have been included with your template package though assistance can be found at blurb.com/pdf_to_book You’ll need to upload a PDF for the pages and at least one cover type.
If you would like your artwork to extend to the very edge of your finished book then pull your artwork edge to the red bleed line. Keep all critical content, such as text, within the safe text boundary (magenta) or it may be unevenly trimmed.

ABOUT THE CAERLEON SIMS AND VIRTUAL ART INITIATIVE
The Caerleon sims are part of the Virtual Art Intiative. The original Caerleon Isle sim was founded by Georg Janick in Feb 2008 and by 2009 had reached a peak of five sims: Caerleon Isle, New Caerleon, Caerleon Art Collective, Caerleon Art Collective2 and Caerleon Era-to. The Caerleon Artist Collective was closed in 2010 and when the increase in fees for non-profit / edu sims was put into play for 2011, Caerleon Artist Collective2 sim was closed. The Caerleon sims continue to host artists and educators and feature a wide range of art exhibitions, collaborative projects, art classes, lectures, workshops and also the Museum of Virtual Art on New Caerleon. ABOUT ICETOPIA & THE ARTISTS
ICETOPIA is an amusing and thoughtful journey of discovery through a themed wintery wonder-land of ice and snow and features works of art and content created by some of Second Life’s finest artists and content designers/creators .
It’s a casual evolving art exhibition with art sourced from our previous exhibitions, new or seldom seen works of art given to us by artists for this show and works that we’ve collected from various artists and content designers/cre-ators in Second Life.
Along with exquisitely crafted content from Sec-ond Life designers/creators, the works of art found throughout ICETOPIA are integrated into
the various landscaped areas at ground level, below the sim and in spheres in the sky above.
We opened ICETOPIA to the public on January 9, 2011 but we are still adding pieces to the ex-hibition and will continue to do so throughout the run of the show which will end in April.
In celebrating the talent and creative energy be-hind the works featured in ICETOPIA, and that is in abundance throughout Second Life and other virtual worlds, we look forward to introduc-ing these works and the artists and content de-signers/creators who created them to both new and seasoned residents of Second Life.
A special thanks to all the artists whose work is featured in ICETOPIA. You inspire me and many others.
And a big huge thanks to Georg Janick whose vision and generosity has given us the Caerleon sims on which to experiment, collaborate, learn, share, create and exhibit some of Second Life’s finest art.
We hope you enjoy the show and have fun ex-ploring and discovering all the wonderful art and diverse content across ICETOPIA. We encour-age everyone to support the artists and content creators of Second Life and other Virtual Worlds by exploring their studios, galleries, exhibitions, installations and shops. You can find many fabulous places to visit in Second Life by using the search feature and selecting the showcase tab and scrolling through the various categories.
If you’d like to share ICETOPIA with your friends and groups, feel free to pass along the landmark and this notecard.!

ICETOPIA CREDITS
Below are the names of the artists and content de-signers whose work you’ll find throughout ICETO-PA. I tried to be accurate in crediting the creators based on the name listed as object creator. If you’re curious where these talented individuals may hang out and show and sell their work and wares, look them up in search, read their profile and check out their picks. I’ve discoverd some of the most amaz-ing things and met wonderful people in SL this way.

MORE INFO ABOUT THE EVOLUTION OF ICE-TOPIA
ICETOPIA evolved from the idea to create a fan-tastical immersive snow and ice covered wonder-land in which to exhibit various works of art by inte-grating the pieces into this wintery palette of white, gray and blue.
I used landscaping and other content elements to enhance these environments to create “moods” that compliment the art and encourage exploration of the unique evocative areas and hidden trea-sures to be discovered on and below the surface of the ice and in giant brightly colored spheres float-ing high in the sky.
As each area took shape, I considered each piece and how it would in turn, work with the other pieces and how together each collection would work in the various sub-themed areas. ICETOPIA is a work in progress -- even after the official opening, there will be changes and additions to the show. That’s the beauty of virtual worlds -- you have this un-limited flexiblity and ease to play with. Why must “virtual” art exhibitions be limited only to specific placement of the art and thereafter remain static for the run of a show?
ICETOPIA is about discovery -- exploring and find-ing art and other treasures and coming back again

and again to discover new places and works you hadn’t seen before. Taking in one entire area and feeling the mood of the space and in turn, the art within the space.
Too add to the journey of discovery, access-ing some areas of the sim or experiencnig how a piece interacts is not so obvious. One might -- and should -- consider touching an object or walking over a painting on the ground to reveal a teleport or hidden portal to another part of the sim or initiating a reaction or interaction.
A guide book sign board at the entrance provides minimal direction to the various areas to provide some guidance without being intrusive to ICE-TOPIA’s concept of discovery. ICETOPIA is not meant to be taken in like fast food -- it’s a many course meal intended to be enjoyed and savored over a period of time.
Throughout ICETOPIA, you’ll find places to sit and reflect such at the shack on the Lake or the table for two in the midst of the Enchanted Forest (if you can get past the mischivious fae). There’s a double bench under the pergola on the Jazz Promenade and a gazebo overlooking the Field of Dreams. You can also perch on spheres in the hand of the giant parametric sculpture. An an opium den awaits in one of the spheres high above and in two of the other ascending spheres (accesible via the teleport board at the main land-ing area), floating and dancing will embrace your avatar.
There are many “serious” works of art in ICETO-PIA but also fun places to explore such as the whimsical Snowland Alpine Village and the silly frivolity of the Ice Maze in which I’ve placed some of my fav fun freebies such as the Surprise Freez-
er and other strange things I’ve acquired, along with new original works by Lollito Larkham and other artists. And for those who venture to find the center of the maze, they are rewarded with exclusive access to a special globe high above the sim. However....
This special globe is also accessible in a few other areas but the objects by which to gain ac-cess to the globe are not obvious but hint at the possibility of something else when engaged.
As noted above, touching things is good. Walk-ing up to things is good. Sitting on things is good -- much of the art in ICETOPIA is interactive and reactive, whether by touch, collision or sensors.
I also chose not to parcel to limit sounds from different works which gives the overall sim -- horizontally and vertically -- a surreal aural feel -- as the sounds mix and cross fade in and out when you move from place to place.
The art and content in ICETOPIA came from dif-ferent sources: Some came from our past col-laborative shows, some were gifts from various artists, some was given to me per my request for this show, other works were specifically created and placed by the artists and myself and some are purchased works or freebies from various places around SL.
In addition to all the great works of art created by so many talented artists, I also wanted to shine light on the wonderful and talented content de-signers in Second Life and other virtual worlds whose creations make our journeys of discov-ery visually richer and serve to set the stage for mood, time, place and imagination while en-hancing the immersive aspect of SL and other virutal worlds. The creative and thoughtful ex-
caelreon: icetopia 13
ecution of this content -- and the amount of time invested -- always amazes me. These design-ers are listed along side the other artists in the credits below.
How I selected the art and content was based on the overall ice and snow theme and the dif-ferent concept areas and a kind of “my favor-ite things and artists and designers” collection. However, given how much art and content I have in my inventory alone, and how much more work by dozens of artists and designers I ad-mire throughout Second LIfe, what you see in ICETOPIA in no way represents all my favorite artists and designers in SL -- to have included everyone would require a few more months to set up and many more sims. :-)
