Caerleon

The perfect setting for your weddingcelebration

Located within the historical and beautiful village ofCaerleon, the attractive Edwardian building dates from1912, however, it is the beautifully manicured grounds thatare perhaps the biggest attraction. Set in gloriouslandscaped gardens, with spectacular views of the UskValley, it will be the perfect backdrop for your treasuredwedding photographs.

Marriage ceremonies are conducted in the University’sEdwardian boardroom, a beautiful oak panelled room, fullof charm and character. It will comfortably seat 75 guestsfor a wedding ceremony and up to 80 for a seated meal or100 for a standing buffet.

Whether an intimate gathering, or large celebration, wehave a range of superb reception rooms in which to hostyour wedding breakfast or evening celebration. OurClarence Bar and Main Hall Bar supply a range of alcoholicbeverages and soft drinks - both are fully equipped andhave the benefit of a late licence for evening functions.

MenusThe University is renowned for its excellent cuisine and finedining. We offer a range of exclusive wedding menus andwine lists. We work with many local suppliers to ensure weare able to offer you the best in Welsh hospitality.

Our professional catering team have created a menuselection pack with menus covering a range of budgets.However, should you wish to discuss a bespoke menu wewould be happy to arrange.

AccommodationDuring the summer vacation, we offer the bride and groom bed and breakfast accommodation in our main building on the night of their wedding at a special rate. Single en-suite rooms can be provided for other guests who wish to stay on campus after the wedding celebrations. Please contact us for availability and room rates.

Car ParkingExtensive car parking is available within the grounds of the University.

Wheelchair AccessAll facilities provided for wedding celebrations are fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Civil CeremoniesPlease note that if you require a reading at the ceremony, its content, music and any objects you wish to place in the room must not have a religious theme.

You will need to check with the local Registrar’s Office that their staff are available on the date and time that you wish to hold your ceremony. Once you have established their availability, please confirm your booking with us.

Helpful Hints

Although planning a wedding can be one of the moststressful tasks you will ever undertake, don’t forget that whatyou are aiming for is to have the best day of your life.

The checklist below aims to help you with your planning inthe months ahead and help make those dreams come true!

As soon as Possible• Choose your wedding date and the venue for the ceremony• If planning a civil ceremony apply for marriage licence with local Registrar

• Choose and book your reception venue• Decide the style/theme of your wedding and decide who is doing what

• Draw up your guest list – don’t forget to consult both sets of parents!

• Work out a budget and decide if expenses could be shared• Select your chief bridesmaid, best man and other attendants

• Start looking for wedding outfits• Book honeymoon and apply for passports if necessary

6-12 Months Ahead• Arrange wedding dress fittings• Meet with florist and choose arrangements for bouquets,

ceremony and reception venues• Book wedding caterer and discuss wedding breakfast/evening reception menus

• Choose and order wedding stationery – invitations, order of service, menus, table plan, place cards, thank you notes, photograph albums and memorabilia boxes

• Book wedding photographer and wedding videographer and discuss requirements

• Start looking at wedding cake designs and order wedding cake

• Book transport to and from the ceremony (wedding cars/carriage etc)

1-3 Months Ahead• Choose hairdresser, makeup artist and book trial run• Go for wedding dress fitting and attend fittings with attendants• Buy going away outfits and honeymoon clothes• Confirm and finalise honeymoon• Chase all unanswered RSVP’s• Draw up final guest list and inform Wedding Co-ordinator of any special requirements

• Draw up seating plan• Choose music for wedding ceremony and first dance• Organise hen/stag nights• Think about speeches

1 Month Ahead• Hold wedding ceremony rehearsal• Pick up wedding dress, groom’s attire and attendants’ attire• Buy presents for parents and attendants• Go for hair and makeup trial and finalise details for day• Notify bank and any other officials of change of name/address

1 Week Ahead• Double check all bookings• Check bride, groom and attendants’ outfits• Pack suitcases for honeymoon• Collect foreign currency/travellers cheques if honeymooning abroad

• Wear wedding shoes around house• Arrange for groom to visit barbers or hairdresser• Give best man and chief bridesmaid a list of their duties

The Night Before• Treat yourself to a manicure and massage• Give rings and monies for fees and tips to best man• Have luggage/overnight bags/clothes taken to hotel• Speak to all attendants• Relax and have an early night• Set your alarm

On the Day• Don’t forget to pamper yourself and, most importantly, to relax and enjoy your day!
