After a series of storms that saturated southern California for a few days, the sunshine rained down on Cable Airport for a wonderful weekend of aviation, fun, and camaraderie for the 42nd Cable Air Show. The Cable family, airport staff, and air show committee is very thankful for the break in weather that allowed for a great and successful Air Show. It is estimated about 4,500 guests attended Saturday and Sunday with most treating themselves to the wonderful aerobatic performances, the many airplanes and cars on display, the kids zone, airplane and helicopter rides, and food and goods from the various vendors in attendence. All in all, the Air Show made for a great weekend for the many that came out. New Ideas or Suggestions? As soon as the Air Show comes to a close, planning begins for the next year. Regardless of whether this was your first Air Show, or 42nd, we would love to hear your feedback on any ways you think future Air Shows can be improved. You do not have to attend an air show committee meeting to provide feedback though we would love to have you. Simply shoot an email to [email protected] or call 909-982-6021 to let us know your thoughts. All feedback is welcome! THANK YOU!... Cable Airport tenants A special thank you to the tenants for your cooperation in giving up the Airport for the one weekend during the year. We thank you for your understanding and for the fact that we do know it poses an inconvenience on your ability to have access to your hangars. Overall, in the scheme of things, the one weekend of inconvenience provides Cable great exposure and community involvement. Not only does this allow us to celebrate the place we all call home, it helps keep general aviation alive. Air Show volunteers A heart-felt thank you goes out to all those that volunteered. It takes a heculean effort to put on the Air Show. Without the aid of hundreds of volunteers providing their valuable their time and energy, the Air Show simply would not happen. Special thank yous go out to Howard Bunte, Daniel Wotring and Tim Potter for the contribution of their time to Media Day which was thoroughly enjoyed by the special needs and school children. Air Show Committee Many thanks go to those dedicated individuals that spent hours helping produce the air show. The process begins as soon as it ends and though the end result is hard to visualize even just a few weeks out, the combined effort of these particular individuals somehow pull off was was an incredible weekend. For that, we thank you. Special recognition goes out to Michael Stewart, the Air Show committee chair, for his countless hours dedicated to this production (and for putting up with non-stop telephone calls from the end of November to the air show). Air Show Sponsors And finally, a huge thank you goes out to all of those who provided support. The financial help received from our sponsors to allow the Cable Airport Foundation to maximize its grants to other aviation-related non-profit organizations such as the EAA, Civil Air Patrol, Commemorative Air Force, and the Ninety-Nines. The 42nd Cable Air Show was a great time to enjoy. Now on with number 43!

The Latest on CCB's Capital Improvment Projects

Message from the “Office”

Need to Keep the Water Out?We have been fortunate to receive a lot of rain and there is potential for more to come. Keep in mind that you may find it useful because of leaking dwellings (homes, hangars, etc.) to have access to sandbags.

Most city's in our region offer its residents a limited supply of free sand and sandbags to assist in protecting their properties from storm-water run-off and possible flooding.

For Upland residents, sandbags are available across from the Airport at the:

Upland City Yard1370 N. Benson Ave.Upland, CA 91786

Hours of Operation:Monday - Thursday (7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)Saturday - (9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)

Sandbag Guidelines:1. Must be an Upland resident.2. Shovels are available for self-service use.3. Fill sandbags 1/2 to 2/3 full and tie at the top so the bag will lay flat when put in place. A properly filled sandbag should weigh between 35-40 lbs.4. Bring someone to assist you. It is important to note that filling sandbags is a two-person job.

For more information you can always call Public Works at (909) 291-2933.

AWOSThe infrastructure for the AWOS has been installed. CCB now awaits for the delivery of the equipment which was initially scheduled for the last week of January. The tentative date is now the first part of March. CCB also awaits word from the FCC on the frequency that will be used. And once the equipment is in and the frequency is assigned, CCB will await for the FAA to commission the AWOS. Our current target now is to have the AWOS fully functional by May 2017.

Rehab Public Apron - Phase 1Airport Office staff held a conference call with the FAA on January 17th to discuss CCB's application for this particular project. The result of the conference call was the FAA's request for a couple of more pieces of information related to the condition of the ashpalt within the project area and the approval for CCB to begin the enginerring and design work for the entire project. Staff then held a meeting the its engineers to discuss the desired results of the project. The next steps include working with the FAA for the required environmental clearances, getting the engineering and design work completed and approved, and, ultimately, getting the grant award.

Auto Pay Available! If you would like to save the time of writing a check every month and the postage of mailing in your payments you can always enroll in Auto Pay. We try to do our part in reducing paper waste here at Cable; you can help us go green by letting us know that you wish for your statements to be emailed to you instead of mailed. If you are interested in Auto Pay or electronic statements be sure to contact Steven Cable here at the Airport office by calling 909-982-6021.

Do we have your current insurance?Insurance companies for many of our tenants automatically send us a copy of certificates of insurance when any change is made to the policy particularly when the policy renews. If you hear from the Airport Office about your insurance, then there is a good chance you have not listed Cable Airport as an "additionally insured" on your insurance policy. This is the mechanism that triggers automatic notification. Your insurance company should be willing to list Cable for no additional cost. Also, this saves you and the Airport Office time and energy getting the required certificates of insurance. It is important to remember the insurance requirement within your lease is to protect you as well as the Airport. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Airport Office. Your help is greatly appreciated.
