Case Study The City of Napa IMPROVES VISIBILITY AND EFFICIENCY WITH NETWORKFLEET Managing a large fleet of sedans, police cars, and light-duty trucks can be an expensive proposition for bustling cities – especially without an efficient vehicle tracking system. For Napa, California, maintenance and vehicle replacement costs were straining the city’s already tight fleet management budget. Since installing Verizon Networkfleet’s wireless tracking system, lower maintenance and vehicle usage costs have city managers looking to expand the implementation of the system. LACK OF RELIABLE DATA INCREASES COSTS It’s hard to solve a problem when you can’t accurately diagnose it. Napa’s previous vehicle tracking system didn’t provide the telemetric and diagnostic information city managers needed to perform proactive vehicle maintenance. As a result, the fleet suffered frequent vehicle breakdowns and excessive repair costs, many of which could have been prevented with proper proactive maintenance. In addition, yearly emissions inspection requirements – “smog checks” – added to the city’s already high fleet management costs. ONBOARD DIAGNOSTICS SIMPLIFY FLEET LOGISTICS Napa’s fleet managers found their solution by installing Networkfleet on 66 of the city’s vehicles. The system’s plug-and-play technology, user-friendly application, and two-minute location and diagnostic updates give managers access to vehicle data on demand, enabling them to operate their fleet more efficiently and control costs. The city derived so much value from the initial installation that it now plans to install the system on its entire fleet of 200+ vehicles. “What separates Networkfleet from other vehicle tracking providers is its ability to link directly into the vehicle’s onboard diagnostics,” said Chris Burgeson, Napa’s fleet manager. “That’s what makes this system right for us.” SYSTEM-WIDE SAVINGS PROVIDE AN INSTANT ROI Since its inception, Networkfleet has helped the city of Napa significantly reduce maintenance and vehicle replacement costs. Additionally, the city’s enrollment in California’s Continuous Testing Program (CTP) has saved in annual smog check expenses. Networkfleet’s remote monitoring of excessive idling, after-hours vehicle usage, and mileage discrepancies helps control costs and keep the fleet operating more efficiently. And its ability to track odometer readings and issue diagnostic trouble code alerts has helped prevent vehicle breakdowns, generating more cost savings. The solution even helps protect the city’s police force. If an officer isn’t answering a call, dispatch can instantly look up his or her vehicle to determine its location and send help if needed. “Every time Networkfleet saves the city from performing a vehicle repair or smog check, there’s an instant payback,” added Burgeson. “We’re big fans of the system, and can’t wait to get it on the rest of our fleet.” READY TO GET STARTED? Case Study

The City of NapaIMPROVES VISIBILITY ANDEFFICIENCY WITH NETWORKFLEET

Managing a large fleet of sedans, police cars, and light-duty trucks can be an expensive proposition for bustling cities – especially without an efficient vehicle tracking system. For Napa, California, maintenance and vehicle replacement costs were straining the city’s already tight fleet management budget. Since installing Verizon Networkfleet’s wireless tracking system, lower maintenance and vehicle usage costs have city managers looking to expand the implementation of the system.

LACK OF RELIABLE DATA INCREASES COSTS

It’s hard to solve a problem when you can’t accurately diagnose it.

ONBOARD DIAGNOSTICS SIMPLIFY FLEET LOGISTICS

Napa’s fleet managers found their solution by installing Networkfleet on 66 of the city’s vehicles.

“That’s what makes this system right for us.”

SYSTEM-WIDE SAVINGS PROVIDE AN INSTANT ROI

Since its inception, Networkfleet has helped the city of Napa significantly reduce maintenance and vehicle replacement costs.

“We’re big fans of the system, and can’t wait to get it on the rest of our fleet.”
