Why partner with SHA? The school manages four centers and
institutes which produce cutting-edge knowledge through research
and outreach to the industry. SHA hosts 8 annual premier industry
events, draw hundreds of the industrys top leaders, providing
outstanding networking opportunities for our alumni and industry
partners. The Cornell Hotel Society hosts 125 events annually
around the world. SHA faculty and staff participate in over 25
industry conferences annually.

Centers & Institutes The school manages four organizations
which produce cutting-edge knowledge through research and outreach
to the industry, as well as sponsoring and supporting student
programs. Each organization produces roundtables which provide an
interactive and engaging meeting place for senior-level executives,
faculty members, and research scholars. The Center for Hospitality
Research Powered by 74 corporate partners and friends, the Center
unites faculty scholars and industry leaders to create timely
research that propels the industry forward. The Center for Real
Estate and Finance The Center educates students, creates and
disseminates knowledge, and exchanges information to a broad set of
audiences about all areas of commercial real estate. The Leland C.
and Mary M. Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship At
the Institute, students work with experienced entrepreneurs and
faculty to develop the knowledge and skills to pursue their
entrepreneurial dreams. The Cornell Institute for Hospitality Labor
and Employment Relations The institute provides a platform for
students, employers, employees, unions and their advocates to
understand and to improve hospitality labor and employment
relations.

The Cornell Hospitality Research Summit, a leading thought
leadership conference, is held every two years on the Cornell
campus in Ithaca, NY. Keynote speakers and presenters converge for
two days of concentrated research and industry presentationsall
designed to address the industrys major issues. Center &
Institute Events The Hospitality Business Plan Competition provides
an experiential learning opportunity to rising entrepreneurs
looking to make their mark on the hospitality industry. The
competition kicks off in the fall and continues through the
academic year with the highly anticipated group presentations
during Hotel Ezra Cornell (HEC) in April. The Innovation Network
(IN) is a community of senior executives who lead strategy at their
companies and share a passion for driving innovation across the
hospitality and travel industries. Through unique, invitation-only
events, IN members explore the latest thinking in innovation,
strategy, and leadership.

Center & Institute Events Through educational student
programming, faculty scholarly research, industry conferences and
roundtables the institute will establish itself as the leader in
disseminating information on hospitality labor and employment
relations. Cornell International Real Estate Case Competition
invites student teams to participate in the Cornell International
Real Estate Case Competition. Meeting at the TIAA-CREF offices in
New York, the teams are given the case of an actual real estate
transaction that has been disguised. In semi- final and final
rounds, the teams analyze the transaction and develop a set of
recommendations.

Strategic Alliance & Corporate Membership Once your
organization engages with the schools programs, centers, institute,
or events, it is considered a Corporate Member of the School of
Hotel Administration. The membership level is based on the breadth
and depth of involvement: $3,000 to $9,999: Connect with the school
by sponsoring an industry event and network with the leaders of
hospitality and travel. $10,000 to $24,999: Partner as a major or
multi-event sponsor, or get involved as a center or institute board
member. $25,000 to $49,999: Become a thought leader with our
centers and institutes. Fund education through our Leadership
Development Program. Join The Network by co-branding with the
school on multiple events annually. Strategic Corporate Alliance -
$50,000 and above: Financially support multiple departments of the
school annually. Corporations and foundations at this level are
recognized on the schools Corporate & Foundation Wall of
Fame.

Other Areas for Engagement Annual Fund Provides for the
current, daily needs of the school, including sending students to
industry conferences, recruiting renowned faculty who are trained
in research, funding overseas study, purchasing equipment for
classrooms, and bringing guest lecturers to campus. Scholarships
SHA projects student scholarship expenses for 2011-2012 of more
than $7 million, our largest expense after faculty and staff
compensation. Facilities Ensures the schools physical plant
continues to serve as state of the art facilities for the teaching
of a world class hospitality education. Program Funds Sponsors many
programs that not only enhance the quality of a student's
education, but also strengthen the entire hospitality industry.
Opportunities for support include SHA Centers & Institutes,
Summer Honors Program for High School Students, and the Hotel
Leadership Development program.

Freshmen Applicants totaled 1136 (771 primary and 114 alternate
freshman applications, and 200 fall transfer and 51 spring transfer
applications). 265 were admitted, and 228 of them joined SHA this
fall 55% of those admitted were women, 27% of the freshman class is
international with students representing Austria, Azerbaijan,
Canada, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India,
Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, and Turkey
76% scored above 600 on the critical reading SAT test and 90%
scored above 600 on the SAT math test Transfer Students Applicants
totaled 251. Of them, 59 were admitted and 54 of them joined SHA
this past fall; and 15 were admitted and 14 enrolled in the spring.
MMH Demand remains strong, both in Ithaca and in Singapore. 65
students started the program in May 2012. The average test score on
the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) was 623. Average
hospitality work experience for enrolling students was 3.2 years.
