Dear Parishioners,

As we continue with the “Wavelength” series, we are given something

different to think about with the readings this weekend. For the past 3

weeks, we have been challenged to think about where we stand in the

grand scheme of discipleship: where our thoughts lie, our opinions,

what we think about the Church’s teachings. To sum it up: are we on

the same wavelength as God?

This week, we are now moved into a bit of action to get on the same

wavelength as God. The action is this: be open to God’s work and

God’s will in our lives. Far too often in today’s world, we are driven by

our own efforts. We do not allow God a chance to bestow His grace on

us. We tend not to allow God the space in our lives to change us into

the disciples He calls us to be.

If we are going to get on the same wavelength as God, if we are going

to grow to be better disciples, we first and foremost MUST depend on

God alone. We cannot grow if we do not let God work on us. He

continues to call us to conversion, to be better. He gives us all the tools

we need to grow in our spiritual lives. We have the ability to surrender

ourselves to His grace. Give Him the space to change us.

The message this weekend is this: Depend on God, not ourselves.

God bless,

Fr. Davis
