Our Students

Fraser Thomson, HNC Contemporary Art Practice StudentFraser recently graduated in HNC Contemporary Art from West Lothian College, achieving the student of the year award in the subject. Fraser’s determination, along with the facilities and teaching staff at West Lothian College helped him achieve his potential in art and design.

Art is a subject which I’ve enjoyed since a very early age. My life size sculpture at West Lothian College is my biggest project yet and it is brilliant that it is being appreciated. The fact that people are talking about it is great. I would recommend the course which explains modern art and how it has changed and developed into what it is today.

Molly Moyle, HND Business Student Molly is now studying the Napier Degree in Business Management at West Lothian College having completed her HND in Business and recently received the accolade of Business Student of the Year 2014.

As a mature student I started off the year wanting to succeed and I put my mind to it. There are challenges in managing a young family, working part-time and studying. However developing strategies, managing priorities, setting goals are all part of my day to day life and are great practical experience for running my own business one day. As a college, everyone is made welcome and I very much enjoy coming here.For anyone who has a dream and wants to change their future, my advice is to ‘go for it’. I would like to say a big thank you to all of the lecturers at West Lothian College for their support.

Get a Degree with our Associate Student SchemeAs an Associate Student, you can be a fully enrolled student with one of our partner Universities but you will study locally here at West Lothian College. This means you get all the benefits of being a University student without the stress of travelling.

On successful completion of your HNC/D course you will have a guaranteed place at University into year 2 or 3 of the degree course.

Applying for ILA FundingBefore enrolling as a student, you need to apply for ILA Funding

Funding You will be able to apply for funding to support your studies. Full time students can apply for a Bursary or SAAS support funding which covers living, travel and study expenses. Part time students may be eligible for an ILA or Part Time Fee Grant.

How to apply for an ILA Application form online:1. Visit www.myworldofwork.co.uk

2. Click on ‘Learn and train’

3. Click on ‘Funding’

4. Click the link ‘Apply now’ (shown on the right-hand side of screen)

You will be directed to another skills and development page

5. Click on ‘Apply now’ and answer the questions on the following page of the website

6. A pack will then be sent to your chosen address

How to apply for an ILA Application over the phone: 1. Call ILA Scotland on 0800 917 8000

2. You will be transferred to an operator who will ask you a series of questions to determine your eligibility

3. Once Eligibility has been established, you will be asked to give your name and address details for an application pack to be sent

4. You will be asked to set up a ‘security’ question to use when accessing your account
