Bull Creek Primary School

From the Principal’s Desk

Farewell Mrs Julie Green Goodbye and best wishes to Mrs Green our Manager Corporate Services. She is taking up a new position and challenge at Booragoon Primary. She has worked at the school for twelve years and has extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of finance. Thank you very much for your contribution to our school. You will be missed by the staff and the school community. Mrs Leanne Chappelhow will be taking over the position from the 14th November and we welcome her to the school. Religious Education Thank you to all the families who responded to the Questionnaire regarding Religious Education in 2017. As a direct result of the information gathered from the survey, Religious Education will continue at Bull Creek Primary School in 2017 and will continue to be run on an “opt in” basis.

Parent Volunteer Morning Tea Throughout the year the school receives help from numerous parents in many different ways. As a small token of our appreciation, the staff of Bull Creek Primary traditionally provide morning tea for these parents. If you have volunteered your time to the school in any capacity, we would like to invite you to this morning tea to be held on Thursday 17th November at 10.30am on the lawn outside the Administration Block. We regret to advise that this is not a suitable occasion for small children to attend. Parent Survey It is a requirement that schools conduct a survey at least every two years. There are three surveys in total - Staff, Student and Parent. The staff and teachers of the relevant students have received their links. The student survey is for children in years five and six only. It would be greatly appreciated if you could take the time to complete the parent survey. Your feedback is valued and we can continue to work together to further develop our great school. The survey is anonymous and should only take about ten minutes to complete. It concludes on 18th November, 2016. The Parent Survey link is: https://www.schoolsurvey.edu.au/s/32CSZYne Booklists A reminder that booklists need to be returned to the front office by Wednesday 9th November. Alternatively, you can order online by 13th November. Those parents who also pay their voluntary contributions at this time will be entered into a raffle, with a chance to receive their child’s personal items free of charge. The school shop pick up is in the library on Friday 9th December from 8.00am to 9.30am. Interm Swimming Lessons. Interm swimming lessons have concluded for 2016; congratulations to all those children who participated and successfully passed their level. Children will receive their certificates next week. VACSWIM VACSWIM is Swimming lessons over the Summer holidays and enrolments are now open. Information forms are available in the school office or enrol online at education.wa.edu.au/swimming or telephone 9402 6412.

Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter. Sue Martin

P & C NEWS FLASH

CANTEEN We hope you are enjoying our Summer ’16 Menu. Have your children tried

our Honey Soy Chicken and Rice for $4.50 on a Monday or a Cheeky Chicken Wrap

Combo for $5.50 on a Wednesday.

Next Wednesday, November 9, we are having our first Special Order lunch for the term in honour

of Kindy Fun Day. The whole school is invited to pre-order a lunch of three party pies, sauce,

Brownes milky drink (Choc, Choc Mint, Strawberry or Banana) and a special treat for $5.00 (extra

party pies may be added for $1.00 each). Orders are due to the Canteen by MONDAY 7

NOVEMBER.

Also new to the Canteen menu is a Gluten Free range. Every day we have Gluten Free Mac

Cheese available ($5.00) and on Friday we have a Gluten Free Beef Roll ($5.00) or Gluten

Free Beef Pie ($6.00). These are a fabulous alternative to traditional pies and sausage rolls

and are endorsed by Coeliac Australia.

UNIFORM SHOP Now is the time to get in and organise your uniforms for next year. A

reminder that from next year, the old pale blue polo shirts will no longer be part of the

official school uniform. If you are in need of new school shirts, the Uniform shop is open

on Tuesday mornings in the new undercover area from 8.30am. Get in quick to order

your uniforms for next year!

Now would also be a great time for those families with children starting in kindy next year to get

their uniforms. The uniform shop will be open on the day of the Kindy orientation, but is always very

busy.

HOYTS MOVIE RAFFLE We currently have a raffle for the ultimate movie pack.

With four children’s movie tickets, kindly donated by Hoyts, chocolates, chips and

drinks, this is everything you need for a trip to the movies. Tickets are a bargain at

50 cents each and are available next to the Canteen on Monday, Wednesday and

Friday. The raffle will be drawn next Friday, November 11 at the assembly. Get your tickets quick!

CELEBRATION NIGHT The annual Celebration Night will be on MONDAY 12TH

DECEMBER on the Wattle netball courts at 5.30pm. As usual, the P&C will be there

with the barbecues selling sausages, chicken kebabs and drinks. We will also have

a Christmas raffle and cake stall. We are seeking donations from our fantastic Bull

Creek families of soft drinks (Coke, Diet Coke, Lemonade, Lemon Squash, Fanta),

bottles of water and sauces (tomato, mustard and barbecue) and cakes, slices and

cookies for the cake stall. Donations of items such as paper plates and napkins

would also be greatly appreciated. If anyone is able to assist with setting up,

packing down or cooking and serving on the night, please contact Cecilia on 0416 108 718.

Our next meeting will be Monday, 21st November 2016, at 7pm in the school library.

We would love to see some new faces join us.
