ocated between Toronto and the U.S. border, this little village in beautiful south-west Oakville has one of a kind shops and restaurants - but even more so, the waterfront and harbour can’t be matched. Established in 1834, Bronte
Village is one of the oldest Ontario communities, and arguably, one of its most scenically beautiful, having two open and publicly accessible harbours – Inner and Outer.
You could say relaxed is the prevailing state of mind in Bronte. You’ll notice a change of pace as soon as you enter the charming streets of the village. Get into the spirit by grabbing your bike or walking shoes and head to the waterfront. Beauty is abundant in the spectacular Heritage Waterfront Park. The site is centred around the varying rhythms of nature which can be relished both on land and lake.
On land, the waterfront is the main playground with a harbour, boardwalk and pier, lighthouse, beach, cycling and walking trails, parklands, picnic and children’s play areas. Here, you’ll find an irresistible urge to throw down your favourite picnic blanket as you watch the sailboats and swans go by or cruise along the waterfront and beach on the scenic Bronte Creek waterfront trail. You may even catch a proposal or wedding at the romantic lakeside gazebo.
From land to lake you expand your opportunity for adventure. For ‘on the water’ excitement, you can grab a paddleboard, or even charter a sport-fishing outing

with Osprey or Hearn Charter Fishing to catch trophy salmon. If boating is your thing, transient slips are available through the Town and Bronte Outer Harbour Marina. Visitors from reciprocal yacht clubs are able to reserve a dock at the Bronte Yacht Club through their dock reservation request system. Most slips offer 30-amp power and fresh water access. Gas barbecues and picnic tables are available at the club. However, trust us when we say, you’ll want to skip the barbecuing and let the local chefs do the cooking.
In a location where residents thrive on great grub and tranquility, there’s no surprise that the restaurant scene in Bronte is the hottest in town. Whether you’re craving casual fast food, pub-style food, an elegant evening dinner, ethnic diversity (including Cuban, Egyptian, French, Italian, Latin, Mediterranean, Mexican, Thai), or simply a bubbly beverage on a patio while overlooking the moonlit harbour, there are endless flavours for your palette to savour. The patio at Cove Restaurant has a ‘Miami vibe’, and is built out from a stunning heritage building tucked just inside the harbour. The ever popular Firehall, Plank and Zara’s restaurants with patios are great for casual dining and the 5-star award-winning Cucci is a rendezvous unto itself.

As a foodie, you’ll certainly want to explore the assortment of tasty summer treats located throughout the village. At The Flavour Fox, they make gelato, sorbet, and frozen yoghurt in the traditional Italian way. Lick your cone on their old-fashioned porch or take it to go as you walk along the waterfront. If your sweet-tooth is calling for something dense, stop-by Chestnuts or Sweet Bakery for an assortment of handmade cakes, desserts, delicious gourmet cupcakes or scones. Eat them in-house alongside a steaming hot cappuccino or a barista-crafted coffee at Taste of Colombia, a local community hub. Or take them to go as you discover the local shops.
Get into the spirit of the village by taking a stroll along Lakeshore and Bronte Roads, where you’ll find “small-town” specialty shops and “big-city” health, fitness and professional services including the newest C’est La Vie bilingual wellness clinic.
Luckily for visitors, Bronte is all about small, local, and independent businesses – bringing you on a one of a kind treasure hunt as you shop. Local boutiques such as Simply Green Baby, Nina Duong Haute Couture, Ziza Boutique, My Girlfriend's Closet, Lana’s, and Goodnight Goodmorning offer a unique ‘destination shopping experience’ where you can shop both international and local brands. Whether you need a swimsuit for the beach, hat as you walk the waterfront, or loungewear as you cozy-up under the stars – the fashion boutiques have you covered.
But that’s not all. Bronte also has a variety of home décor stores such as Rooms To Grow, Decor by Consign, My Back Shed, Bogart Home & Decor, Lakeside Livin’ and AG Antiques offering one of a kind décor and vintage items. Bring home something special as a little reminder of your trip and support independent local businesses.

FINDING HEALTH, ONE NATURAL STEP AT A TIME
Sometimes despite our best intentions to unplug and relax, life comes calling. That’s why Bronte Village is also home to those “big city” services. Whether it’s financial services, RBC/TD banking, real estate or eye care and naturopathy, even the unique energy healing services of Ananda Soul, Bronte Village has an assortment of health and professional services there for you when you need them. Bronte professionals are second to none, and have formed long-lasting relationships built on trust within the community.
After diving into the heart of the community: it’s shops, restaurants, and waterfront - there is so much to highlight when it comes to Bronte summer events. And you don’t want to miss it.
This summer, Bronte Village is hosting a number of free events perfect for all ages. With the Trias Art Gallery, Sovereign House historic museum/gallery, and live music venues right in the village, Bronte is alive with art, heritage, and culture.
Music lovers can head down to the Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park Sail Stage for the free ‘Lake Notes’ concert series at the Sail Stage. The Bronte Business Improvement Area businesses host evening performances every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. from June 20 through to August 29. Into its second year by popular demand, this series presents music of various genres over eleven dates against a sparkling lakeside and lighthouse backdrop.

Whether you’ve come to shop, dine or enjoy the waterfront, we want everyone to enjoy their visit, so we’ve made some changes to parking in this area.
Let us help you find a place to park.
On-street paid parking (free after 6 p.m. and Sundays and holidays)Beginning in June 2019, the town is launching a two-year pilot paid parking program in Bronte Village’s shopping district. Having paid parking spaces helps promote turnover and ensure there are spaces available for customers of the nearby businesses. Paid parking will be available through parking meters, pay-by-plate machines, monthly permits and the HONK mobile payment app for $1.50 per hour, with several 20-minute quick stops for $0.25.
Private parking lotsMany of the businesses in Bronte have free parking in their commerical lots. Please note that these lots are privately owned and meant for customers of the adjacent stores, restaurants and businesses only while on the premises. If unsure, please check with the restaurant or business you are visiting to ensure you are parked in the right place.
Waterfront parkingIf you plan to spend time enjoying the waterfront, parking is available at the Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park. For more information visit oakville.ca.
