The Kistler success story began with the development and marketing of piezoelectric pressure sensors. Even today, the technical properties and the quality of these sensors remain unmatched around the world.

Kistler Technology Integrates Quality Assurance in the Production ProcessThe costs of defective quality are a decisive factor for the profi t-ability of production companies. Kistler solutions consisting of sensors and systems offer the possibility of monitoring, con-trolling and regulating processes through measurement of the relevant factors in a very wide variety of production processes. Process monitoring is thus applied at critical points to reduce the percentage of rejects, save on quality assurance costs and avoid product recalls.

Plastics are high-performance materials that are used nowadays in countless applications. Their low weight and the possibility of high function integration make them the material of choice. The processing of these materials is however highly complex. Kistler solutions are being used with the injection molding of these materials. Here the sensors are in direct contact with the plastic melts, which involves being subjected to pressures of up to 2 000 bar and temperatures of up to 450 °C. Even under these extreme conditions, the sensors continue to provide high-precision measurements and detect reject parts where they arise, directly in the manufacturing process. In automotive engineering, in electrical engineering and in medical technology, Kistler thus secures 100 % quality solutions and reduces the "Cost of Poor Quality" to a minimum.

We calculate motor vehicle weights from dynamicsensor signalsThe new Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) data logger is an outstanding application example for the electronic platform. The key values of passing motor vehicles is determined online at full speed. Using the raw data from wheel load sensors, the data logger calculates the weight and number of individual axles, the total weight, the speed and the type of the vehicle in addition to a potential asymmetry of the load. Sales 2004 ... 2013

The Kistler Group achieved sales of 285 MCHF in 2013, thus once again marking a slight growth in comparison with the figures for the prior year. Kistler has been reporting sustained growth for more than ten years that is broadly based on the automotive industry and the industrial sector.

The focus of the last three years has been on a far-reaching reorganization of the company. This repositioning and structuring according to divisions is now completed. The company is fit for new challenges and will be able once again to focus more intensively on innovation and market development.

Furthermore, the Lean Program that was initiated in 2012 will be rolled out consistently throughout the entire production network in the next few months, with automation of production also being pushed forward. These investments will further reduce throughput times, while at the same time improving performance indexes in production.

The Kistler Group is comprised of 30 Group companies. These are present worldwide in 30 countries at a total of 53 locations. Selected representatives distribute Kistler products and solutions in 30 additional countries.Personnel figures, as of January 2014: 1 250, of which 520 are in Switzerland.
