IEP was founded with the blessings of Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on 07 May 1948. Today, it is the largest professional body of engineers in Pakistan and accordingly recognized as the largest single forum for professional development of engineers through a wide range of activities and programs. The institution continues to play key role for the dissemination of knowledge amongst fellow engineers viz-a-viz promoting the initiatives and projects which contribute towards the economic and technological growth of the country. Accordingly, it is envisioned that IEP will soon become the center of excellence to provide professional advisory services pertaining to CPEC. IEP has its Headquarters at Lahore and centers located in all major cities of Pakistan as well as in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. It has signed technical collaboration agreements with more than forty renowned professional engineering organizations across the globe. IEP is also a member of six international and regional engineering bodies and has the honor of representing Pakistan at these forums.
IEP holds regular conferences and workshops on related subjects for Continuous Professional Development of engineers and accordingly making outstanding contributions for the technological growth of the country. CPEC is one such initiative which carries the prospects of transforming lives of the people of the region, opening new vistas of development and growth. While benefits of CPEC would be widespread, Industries, Energy, Infrastructure and Communication sectors would take lion’s share of the program. This project will not only provide short and easy access to China to reach the European and African markets, it has tremendous potential for reviving the economy of Pakistan. However, this potential needs to be thoroughly analyzed with a view to correctly identify areas of sustainable development on one hand and building the requisite capacity for same on the other. This rather lofty objective requires extensive deliberations and matchmaking efforts in various technological disciplines and fields of economy.
Foregoing in view, IEP is initiating series of events to create maximum awareness of the full scope of CPEC and bringing on one platform the financiers, investors, entrepreneurs and government officials to exploit the benefits of this mega project for enhanced investment, business and employment opportunities. The first edition of this series is a three days International CPEC Conference & Exhibition (ICCE-2017) with the theme to “Discover CPEC - Opportunities and Challenges” which is scheduled to be held on 18th and 19th January, 2017 followed by International Match-Making Sessions on 20th January, 2017 at Movenpick Hotel, Karachi in collaboration with national and international partners. The event is expected to attract maximum participation from national and international organizations as sponsors, exhibitors, attendees and visitors.
