1.1LOGO ARRANGEMENTS

There are four logo arrangements, or “lock-ups.” Use the first lock-up for larger formats in which the tagline can be easiliy read, such as on t-shirts. The second version should be used on most professional pieces. The third lock-up can be used on small formats where simplicity is important, such as for digital purposes. Lastly, the fourth lock-up is to be used to improve contrast against backgrounds and imagery.

1.1LOGO ARRANGEMENTS

There are a few specialty logo arrangements to be used by schools on professional materials, such as on letterheads and business cards. The first lock-up is to be customized with each school’s logo and name. The second logo is to be used on collateral for Spanish speaking audiences. The third lock-up is only used for schools with specialty programs. The RPS logo should always be on the left, followed with the school’s logo in the middle, and the specialty program logo on the right.

One logo should not dominate over another in the lock-up. To ensure this does not happen, keep each logo the same height throughout.

1.2LOGO SPACING

In application, the logo should not appear too close to other logos or graphic elements. To maintain the cleanliness of the brand, allow ample margins (or clear space) around logos. A good rule of measurement is the height of “Richmond Public Schools” found within the logo. That is the minimum suggested margin, but additional space is always encouraged.

for glossy paper, uncoated for matte paper.

3TYPOGRAPHY

The Lato typeface should be used

for most purposes, like headers,

subheaders, body copy, links, and

captions. The secondary typeface,

Oswald, should be used for calendar

dates, navigation bars, and buttons.

Richmond Public Schools, when

written for headers, should always be

in gray and all caps to coincide with

the logo.

When choosing typography, consider

size, color, and contrast to achieve

optimal hierarchy and consistency

across the brand. Use blue to call out

important information, like headers

and links.
