Senior Paxson Dechant, Junior Tanner Heidtke and Sophomore Aidan Jacobs are returning to the line up this year and will be strong leaders for the program. The first dual meet is Nov. 22 at Marengo. Becerril is a strong but compassionate leader and an excellent captain, coach said. Outside of dance, Becerril is a world traveler, completing trips to Peru and China.

Highlighting Becerril, WHS Competitive Dance

Aari Becerril

Competitive dance is trying something new this year! Typically the team competes a pom and a hip hop rou-tine, but this year coach Kim McLaughlin is going to com-pete a jazz and a lyrical piece. The team will compete at South Elgin Nov. 30, Crystal Lake Central Dec. 4 and Stevenson Dec. 11. Coach McLaughlin called the team “small by mighty,”competing with 10 dancers. Captains this season are juniors Aarianna Becerril and Chloe Scott.
