Located in a small fishing village near Makarska, Mala Duba is one of the rare gems of the Adriatic coast, offering the best experience of sun, sea, pine trees and a peace of mind. During winter, Mala Duba has 50 friendly habitants, while during summer, more than 8000 tourists pass through this peaceful village. As during the night the only sound you hear is the waves of the sea hitting the shore, this atmos-phere mostly attracts families with younger children and seniors. There is not much going on here, there is a minimarket, a marketplace that sells fresh fruit and vegetables, a few ice-cream stands and the only restaurant and coffee shop is the pension Duba, but if you were to add anything else, it would break the magical and relaxing atmosphere of the village.

A beautiful pebble beach spreads both north and south from the village for more than a mile, offering comfortable and spacious days below the sun. As the front terrace and the coffee shop of the pension are just 10 m from the sea, we challenge you to convince your waiter to bring you a cold beverage while you are half immersed into the sea. To go to the beach, just take your slippers and a beach towel, no heavy baggage required.

The village offers 2 nice long walks. One goes towards Živogošće, a slightly larger village that has several restaurants, coffee shops and other activities. You can go there by foot all along the coast, however, we strongly suggest going in slippers as during a high tide in one part you will need to walk through the sea. If you take this walk, you will come across many beautiful family sized beaches, giving you a more private swimming experience.If you go south, the walk will take you through a small forest which has many romantic benches with beautiful views on nearby islands. After the walk through the forest which takes about 20-30 minutes, you will arrive at Velika Duba („Velika“ means „Big“, while „Mala“ means „Small“) – a large bay with a beautifully pebble beach. As a contradiction, Velika Duba doesn’t have any habitants; it only got its name as the bay itself is bigger. Velika Duba shelters only pass-ing campers and tourists from nearby villages.

Boutique hotel Duba is small family hotel run for almost 50 years. The foundations were built in 1960 and, except during the war in Croatia, it has never stopped working. The hotel only accommodates 34 people which enables the manager to have a personal relationship with each guest. During the life-time of the hotel, most guests were returning guests, as once you fall in love with it your search for a relaxing vacation is over. The hotel was fully renovated in 2014, giving it a refreshing look and meeting the standards of today’s travelers.

The hotel offers a spacious terrace in front that is used as a coffee shop. The terrace is fully covered in shades provided by the pine trees. Due to the slightly outstretched location of Mala Duba into the Adriatic sea, there is always a slight breeze blowing on the terrace which makes and ideal microclimate for long and enjoyable refreshing drinks. The terrace is just by the beach, so no matter how hard you try, you will undoubtedly fall into, what is a commonly seen in Mala Duba, the stress-relieving pattern: swim, sunbath, refresh, repeat.

On top of the building there is spacious 40m2 terrace completely bathed in sun. The view from the top is amazing: you are sitting just above the pine trees and over their top spreads the beautiful sea all the way to the island Hvar and on the right side to the island Brač. The terrace has a barbeque grill which will keep you up there for hours, and if the sun gets too hot, cover yourself under a sunshade.

The restaurant and the bar are situated in the ground floor of the hotel continuing to a smaller terrace outdoor. The restaurant can accommodate 34 guests indoors and 20 outdoors. This area is completely renovated in 2014 and is fully equipped to serve buffet breakfast and a-la-cart menu.The restaurant has a modern design decorated by lots of details of the sailing experience, giving it a traditional Croatian feel and perfectly fitting into the whole atmosphere of the rest of the hotel and village.

The fully renovated rooms are made with one thing in mind: offer the most comfortable experience to the guests, and give them a feel of the Mediterranean atmosphere. The room design includes lots of elements portraying the Mediterranean lifestyle and a lot of attention has been given to detail. The rooms are also designed to be connected by doors and each has a prede-fined space for a mini kitchen to offer the possibly to rent the rooms as apartments. In total, there are 10 spacious rooms ac-commodating 28 guests.

The spacious and luxurious VIP suite on the third floor is the best the boutique hotel Duba has to offer: it’s over 100m2, includes a sauna, fireplace, whirlpool bath, bal-cony, sat TV, a fully equipped kitchen, a mini kitchen, 2 bathrooms, accommodates 6 persons and has the passage to the 40m2 terrace on the top of the building. If needed, the suite can also be divided into 2 fully equipped apartments by locking one door. The apartment is bathed in sun, and from the balcony you can view the sea, beach, the terrace in front of the building and the terrace of the restaurant.
