Fing was created in 2000 by a team of entrepreneurs and

experts, with the aim of detecting, fostering andpromoting innovation in digital services and uses.

Working at the crossroads between technology,business, the arts and social change, Fing is a network, anidea accelerator, a think tank and a resource for innovators.

Think/do tank. Formulated around future-lookingchallenges, Fing’s programs mobilize a wide diversity of stakehol-ders and innovators in order to share ideas, explore radically newopportunities and stimulate innovative action.

Open innovation. Fing networks internationally with start-ups,researchers, designers, students and social innovators, as wellas with major corporations and public institutions, in order toaccelerate innovative projects and facilitate open innovation.

Crossroads ofPossibilities

The Carrefour des Possibles is a series of open events thatshowcase early-stage projects using ICTs in an innovative way.Each edition presents 10 projects to an audience of 300+

professionals.Its aim is to promote and network the

projects and their authors, to stimulatecreativity and to help discover new uses oftechnology.

Beyond the events themselves, the Carrefour des Possiblesis an innovator-friendly process that includes: a network ofpeople and organizations in charge of identifying projects, a

collective brieng method, training in communication, andnetworking between projects and professionals willing to helpthem.Since 2002, more than 600 projects have been presented at theCarrefour des Possibles, in 15 dierent cities.

Internet Actu is Fing’s main onlinepublication. Both a blog and a media,Internet Actu reaches more than100, 000 regular readers, and more through

Fing’s team is made up of 20 outstanding individuals,

most of them experts in a specic innovation eld,managed by Daniel Kaplan.

Its Board comprises 15 members emanating from thebusiness world, research and education, local authoritiesand other associations.

As an association, Fing has more than 160 members,including major rms, start-ups, research laboratories,universities, local authorities, administrations,associations.

Daniel KaplanDaniel Kaplan is the founder and CEO Fing. He is alsochairman of the European Institute for e-Learning (EifEL).Since the 1990s, he has been deeply involved in the Internet’s

development and evolution, on a French, European andinternational level. From 2003 to 2006, he sat in theEuropean Commission’s eEurope Expert Chamber.He has written or directed 15 books and public reports on theinternet, mobility, e-commerce, e-education, e-inclusion andelectronic media.

Jean-Marie BourgogneJean-Marie Bourgogne is the deputy director in charge ofadministrative and nancial issues. He benets from morethan twenty years of professional background in managingprojects, developing businesses, engineering and commercial

management within important international companies of theICT area.

Véronique RoutinAfter several years working with Internet corporations such asAmazon, LaSer and Telemarket, Veronique Routin joined Fing whereshe is in charge of members and partners. She is also in charge of

Fing’s communication.

Pierre OrsatelliPierre Orsatelli worked during four years at the EUCommission in Brussels (1988 – 1990): at the secretary general’s

“Relationship with the Council” unit (1988), at the Groupe Lacroix, ECPresident’s think tank (1989) and eventually at the “Completionof the internal market” unit, DG “Industrial aairs and Internalmarket” (1989-1990). He produced the rst communication fromthe Commission to the Council on transeuropean networks. He alsowrote books and articles on EU integration. Currently, based both in

Paris and Marseille, he is a senior consultant (working part time for Fing) and covers thefollowing areas: strategy consulting, project management, evaluation of public policies(economical, political and sociological aspects), European projects and proposals.

Jean-Michel CornuJean-Michel Cornu, scientic director of Fing, is aninternational consultant and European expert on New Technologies

and the Information Society.His activity combines strategic intelligence and scienticexpertise; dissemination of strategic or technicalknowledge towards decision-makers; development ofcommunities and cooperation projects at international and locallevels.He wrote several books among which “Prospectic, new

technologies, new thinking” (FYP édition 2008) and “Cooperation, new

approaches” (Framasoft 2009).



Thierry MarcouThierry Marcou joined Fing in 2004 to lead the territorialcommunity. Today, he is in charge of the action programCities 2.0, launched late 2006, as well as of a number of

innovative experiments such as the green Watch. He started hisprofessional activity as a project ocer among dierentservices of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations. For 10years, he ran the Conjuguer consulting group, where he crea-

ted, developed and led the rst collaborative territorial networks of cities.

Charles Népote

Charles Népote joined Fing in 2007 to lead the actionprogramme « Active Identities ». A key actor of theFrench wikisphere from its very beginning, he co-foundedWikini in 2002, collaborated to several wiki communities andinvestigated the use of wikis in businesses. He benets froman important expertise in collaborative tools, management ofweb content and online social networks. His background inethnology and comparative sociology enables him to take a

dierent look at ICTs and networks.

Denis PansuDenis Pansu coordinates the network of the “Carrefour des

Possibles”, a concept which he created in 2002 within Fingto provide visibility and networking to digital innovators. Asa specialist in spotting innovation and networking digitalinnovators, he cooperates with many organizations andnetworks involved in the selection of the projects. He used towork for the Fondation de France during four years on the callfor proposals Multimedia directed to NGOs.

Carole-Anne RivièreCarole Anne Rivière joined Fing in 2007 to lead the actionprogram « PlusLongueLaVie.net » (Ageing Lab). She is incharge of stimulating research and innovation projectsanswering to the new digital challenges, needs and usesregarding the societal challenge of ageing. To do so, she leadsa network made of more than 150 people (experts of ageing,public and social sector actors, designers, innovators,businesses) using open cooperation as a working method. She hasconducted a thesis on social networks as factor of social change.

She used to work as a researcher on the use of ICTs in France and Asia for Orange Labs.

Stéphane VincentStéphane Vincent launched in March 2008 the project «la27ème Région», a laboratory aiming at «changing the change»in the 26 French regional governments and in public sector.Through this project, he helps regional/local authorities include

social innovation in policymaking, promote a user-driven ap-proach, and use technologies and networks as a means to im-prove their service to citizens. He joined Fing to implement thisproject after 6 years in the Limousin Regional Council, wherehe implemented the RISI programs, and 7 years as a consultantand associate director in consulting rm Proposition.

Charlotte RautureauCharlotte Rautureau is in charge of European funding inFing. She has already dealt with the information society andEuropean funds when she worked for OTeN (FrenchObservatory of Digital Territories). She was in charge ofcoordinating an INTERREG IVC project named IRIS Europe. She

wrote a guide dedicated to the French regional authorities tohelp them better understand the information society issue inEurope.
