Okay, so I admit it. I’d always been curious about Bonnaroo. I remember sitting in a graphic design class in York, Pennsylvania, circa 2005, overhearing a group of peers talking about going to Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo? Is that even a word? What is this magical place they spoke of?

Fast forward to 2011, When my boyfriend’s Momma kindly decided to purchase two tickets to the infamous music & arts festival in Manchester, Tennessee. By this point, I had been living in Nashville for over a year and Manchester was just ‘down the road’, so to speak. So began our beautiful journey to Bonnaroo.

They say “hind sight is 20/20” and sometimes that proves to be true. Being a visual person, I wish someone would’ve shown me a book of photos. So, here is my gift to all the future

lovers of Bonnaroo. Pack up, be prepared, and be Bonnaroo Bound!

Oh, the things you’ll see! Prior to packing, soak up all the information that can be found online. There are many sites that will help

with a list of things to pack. Here were a few things I wish I had more of: Bandanas, blankets, baby wipes, antibacterial everything. Oh, and bug spray!

According to Urban Dictionary,

Bonnaroo is ‘an amazing music

festival in the cow fields of

Manchester, TN held in mid-June

since 2001. It brings the best jam

bands, rock, jazz, blues, reggae,

bluegrass, hip hop, and blues

together with 90000 music fiends for

a beautiful amalgamation of

substance abuse, mud, and music.

Either that, or ‘Referenced from a Dr. John song, "Decidedly Bonnaroo," supposedly is

Cajun for "great time" You decide.

Style at Bonnaroo is as visually stimulating as it is inspiring. Even the least concerned with fashion (such as my boyfriend) can’t help but start blending in with the massive crowd. Whether you’re half naked from heat exhaustion, or wearing a head wrap to prevent your brain from melting, Bonnaroo’s style will effect you.

If the hampster on your wheel hasn’t ran past the word “Woodstock” by now...

Perhaps you’ve never heard of it.

People travel from all over the globe to meet up in the glorious fields of Manchester & you are bound to make far out friends. Butmake sure to stop by Bonnaroo’s Post Office, located in Planet Roo, to send a piece of ‘Roo home to the folks!

Peace & Love.

The ability to blend in at Bonnaroo, and in the real world, are complete opposites. For a fool proof plan on packing: Open closet. Look for pattern. Pack. Look for bright colors. Pack. Look for anything you haven’t had the courage to wear all year. Pack.

There’s a nice community feeling at Bonnaroo, which makes it easy to ‘trade’ things with your new neighbors. It also comes in handy to be resourceful, for when you want to save a few bucks. I wanted a headband with flowers, so I made one! Not only did I have something to do while we were sitting in the shade, but I also had something to wear for the next couple days. Materials Used: Paper plates, Scissors, 4-Pack of Highlighters, and some hemp.

Did I forget to mention there’s music? “The Bonnaroo line of the weekend came from Stephen Stills: "If Woodstock had been like this, we'd never have left." Instead of the famed mud from the 1969 New York festival, the 80,000 Bonnaroo attendees were covered in Tennessee dust. A haze of it rose 30 feet into the air on Saturday, making a bandanna worn over the nose and mouth the weekend's de rigueur fashion accessory. “ (Quote credit: Brian Mansfield of USA Today)
