TheOrientation program touched the aspect of Cultural activities at the end. Themost awaited

information by the new entrants----- They were informed about the various Cultural Activities

conductedattheInstitutesuchas: VERVE(Annual intracollegiateculturalprogram),VIGOUR(

Intercollegiate cultural program), MAAY MARATHI AND MARATHI VANGMAYA MANDAL -----To

preserve Marathi culture. Apart from these activities , the Students’ Council Of VSIT organises

SHANIVAR MANCH----a platform to showcase the talents of students. This activity is carried out

everySaturdaytobreakawayfromtheroutineandtoenergisethestudentsfortheupcomingweek.

The whole program was well planned and executed by the teachers with the help of student

volunteers.Thoughtheprogramwasmainlyinformative,wasmadeveryinteractivebythepleasant

personalitiesandwittywaysofthefacultymembers.

Department of Management had organized an Industrial Visit for second year Bachelor of

ManagementStudies(BMS)studentstoParle–G(Khopoli)andMagnalalChikki(Lonavala)on11th

August2017.Themainobjectiveof thisvisitwas tohelp students togainhands-onexperienceof

howindustryoperationsareexecutedandalsotobridgethegapbetweentheoreticaltrainingand

practicallearninginareal-lifeenvironment.

Thevisitwasparticipatedby96studentsand4faculty members .Thereportingtimewasmorning

6:00am.Theteam reachedfactoryaround10:00am.OnreachingParleG,studentswereshowna

videoexplainingtheprocessofmanufacturingbiscuitsandchocolates,aswellasadvertisementsof

someof the company’sproducts.After that, the studentswereable toobserve theassembly line

systemfromadeckoverhead.Theysawthedoughbeingbakedinbulk,afterwhichthecutbiscuits

were ready and packagedmechanically. Towards the end, freshly baked biscuitswere served and

studentsreceivedpacketsofthebiscuits.

AfterParle-GstudentsweretakentoMaganlalChikki–Lonavala.StudentswereshownManual

productionprocessofdifferentvarietiesofchikkiandtheirpackinganddispatchingprocess.Theunit

manufacturesproductsaccordingtothecodexstandardswhichhaswonacclamationforMaganlal

Food products. At the end studentswere allowed to purchase all the products at discount price

fromthefactoryoutlet.

Thefieldtripwasanoverallsuccesswiththestudents’enthusiasticresponse.

Extension Unit (DLLE) of VSIT had participated in Dream run organized by Indo Torch from

Nariman Point toGirgoan Chowpatty. The theme of the runwas Zero FoodWaste& students of

ExtensionunitofVSIThadcontributedtothecausebyconductingflashmob,Skits&streetplay.The

activitywascoveredliveonNDTV&IndianExpress.

Themain objective for this runwas tomake the citizen

aware about “Don't waste food; Give it to others." This

activitywasalso focusedon creatingawarenessamong the

citizens by addressing one of the crucial issues concerning

thesocietyat large.Thebrandambassadorsoftherunwas

Mumbai's Dabbawallas, the prestigious group delivering

tiffin boxes everyday across the city honoured as

managementgurus.RowingChampionDattuBhokanal,who

represented India inRioOlympics2016,had inauguratethe

Torch Run paving way for fellow runners and spread the

message to stop 'wastage of food'. The torch was handed

oversymbolicallytothegovernmentattheHutatmaChowk,

Fort. This activity helped students to understand the

problemsfacedbythesociety,thattherearemanywhogo

to the bed hungry & starve, while there aremany whowaste food. After all food is a precious

commodityandshouldnotbewasted;itisnoteveneasilyavailabletoallacrosstheplanet.

taken the initiative to establish WTCs in other prominent states in the country.

Management Department of VSIT on Thursday, on 7th September, 2017 especially for FYBMS

semester I students. Themain objective behind the visit was tomake student aware about how

various activities related to global trade are carried out and how they can take their family

businessesatthegloballevel.ThreefacultymembersofProf.SagarGaikwad,Dr.SonalShramaand

Prof.PoojaKesherwanialongwith105students left forvisitat10a.m.andtookaboutanhourto

cover thedistance. TheWorldTradeCenter is locatedatCuffeParade inMumbai.As soonaswe

reachedthere,wewereguidedbyMrA.O.Kuruvila,Advisor–Trade&Educationwhohasgivenus

anorientationand lectureabout itshistoryandhow itwasestablished.Hehasalsoexplainedthe

functioning of World Trade Centre and Importance to all business organisation who are in the

about what actually the Shanivar Manch is and detailed about all the activities that take place

throughouttheyear.Therewasalsosomeglimpseofpasteventswhichtookplacein2016-17,the

videowascreatedbyAkashMane(M.sc)andKaranUpade.(SYBMM)andthenthehugecrowdwas

entertainedby thecouncilmembers,ShivangiSunchu (TYBSCIT),PrajaktaRawool (SYBMM),Fahad

OursecondShanivarManchfortheyearwasTalentHunt.ItwasdividedintotwoShanivarManch.

Talent show was opened by Sarthak (SYBSC-IT) by his spectacular voice and then our very own

anchorsYashYadavandPrenitaRemanitookoverthestageandtheShanivarmanchcontinued.The

nextcontestantDinesh(FYBMM)entertainedtheaudiencebyhisincredibleactingskillsfollowedby

Shahrukh(FYBSC-IT) and Shubham(FYBMM) by exhibiting their blow away talent in skipping and

tabla. Raunak(FYBMM) and Shivani(FYBMM) VSITians by their amazing dance moves where as

Suresh(SYBSC-IT) and Sneha(FYBAF) participated for group singing. It was difficult to beat

Sujay(SYBMS),Karthik(TYBSC-IT) and Bhaumik(SYBSC-IT) in Beat boxing. The judges for the same

wereKetkiGhawaliandAnanditaBanejiMadam.ThisactivityofShanivarManch(TalentHuntday1

)wassummedupbyPiyush(TYBFM)withsomemagicinVidyalankar.

ShanivarManch(Talenthuntday2)wascontinuedbyNilay(SYBSC-IT)byhissingingperformance.

Not only Dineshwas good atMono-acting but also Disha(SYBMS) stand outwith her astonishing

interpretation. Abhishek(SYBMM) yet another singer made the competiton a bit tough, then

Rishi(FYBMS)andRushill(FYBSC-IT)followedthesingingbytheRapandbeatboxingandfinallyour

talenthunt's(day2)lastcontestantArchisha(TYBMS),Arfeen(FYBMS)andShreya(TYBMS)windedup

bytheirgroupdance.Now,Anchorsmadesomeofthestaffmemberstocomeonthedaisandwas

Danceworkshopwasheld in theShanivarManch slot. Itwasheldon12thaugust. Theeventwas

Folk Fitness. Uma from Do D Dance Association held the workshop. The other members of

associationwerealsopresenttoassistandguidetheaudienceduringtheworkshop.

ItconsistedofDancemovesofvariousfolkdancesfromIndia.Themotivefortheworkshopwasto

get fit in a fun way. It included Bhangra, Garba, lavni and many other famous folk dances. The

participation from students was incredible. Many faculty members also participated in this

workshop.
