CJB 2 Corinthians 7:1Therefore, my dear friends, since we have thesepromises, let us purify ourselvesfrom everything that can defileeither body or spirit, and strive to be completely holy out ofreverence for God.2Make room for us in your hearts- we haven't wronged anyone, wehaven't corrupted anyone, we haven't exploited anyone.

3I am not saying this to put blame on you, for I have already said

    that you have a place in our hearts, whether we live together ordie together;

4that I am very confident in you; that I am very proud of you; that

you have filled me with encouragement; and that in spite of all our

troubles, I am overflowing with joy. (2Co7:1-4CJB)

8If I caused you pain by my letter, I do not regret it. Even if I did

regret it before- for I do see that that letter did distress you,

though only for a short time-

    9

now I rejoice not because you were pained, but because the painled you to turn back to God. For you handled the pain in God's way,

so that you were not harmed by us at all.

10Pain handled in God's way (GODLY SORROW KJV) produces a

turning from sin to God which leads to salvation, and there is

nothing to regret in that! But pain handled in the world's way

    produces only death. (2Co7:8-10CJB)

Consider as we enter into what ostensibly appears to be a re-hash of

the last couple of portions must serve a greater purpose. The things were

looking at in Vayyakhel again are the Tabernacle furnishings and raw

materials that we first were introduced to in Terumahor The Offering.

Much of our understanding can be improved upon if we take into

context what has occurred just prior to this portion. If you recall in Ki-Tisa,

this portion was all about Service and most importantly, realizing that

YHVH has provided the mode of service acceptable to Him. Often times left

to our own private interpretation weve made justification for things that

veer far outside the pathway ordained by YHVH either because thats how

my pastor explained how its done, or this theological school has adopted

this position on the issue, or even because this is how everyone else is

doing itbut sometimes the majority, if I may borrow a phraseonly

means that all the fools are on one side. Allow me to use Scripture to paint

you a picture of the pain Israel felt when they heard the word uttered byYHVH through Moses,

CJB Lamentations 1:1How on ylies the city that once throngedwith people! Once great among the nations, now she is like a widow!

Once princess among provinces, she has become a vassal.

2Bitterly she weeps at night tears running down hercheeks. Not one of all her lovers is there to comforther. Her friends have all betrayed her; they havebecome her enemies.3Y'hudah has fled into exile from oppression and endless slavery.

She lives among the nations, but there she finds no rest. Herpursuers have all overtaken her in the midst of her distress.

4The roads to Tziyon are mourningbecause no one comes tothe festivals. Her gateways are all deserted, her cohanim are

groaning, her unmarried girls are grieving- how bitter it is for her!

5Her foes have become the head, her enemies relax, for ADONAI has

made her suffer because of her many sins. Her young children have

gone away captive before the foe.

6All splendor has departed from the daughter of Tziyon. Her

princes have become like deer unable to find pasture, running on,

exhausted, fleeing from the hunter. (Lam1:1-6CJB)

The book of Lamentations is not found in this weeks Haftarah, but

its pain most certainly is. Yermeyahu, or Jeremiah, also known as the

weeping prophet powerfully assessed the Godly Sorrow directed at a

people that once had been The Crowning Jewel in Adonais Mitre. Their

minds however had allowed opportunity for pride and selfishness to seep

in, thus entertaining all manner of justification for exploring the path of

rebellion against YHVH. After the assault and conquest of The Holy city,

Jeremiah and Israel were devastated and in anguish; anguish over the fact

that they had been defeated, that they had invited defeat in through their

own choices and lusts. We learn from reading in the book of Yeshuas half

    brother, His servant Yakov,

14But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his

own lust. 15Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and

when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. 16Do not be deceived,

    my beloved brethren.

17Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above,

coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no

    variation, or shifting shadow.

18In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of

truth, so that we might be, as it were, the first fruits among His

    creatures.

19This you know, my beloved brethren. But let everyone be quick to

    hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;

20for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

21Therefore putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of

wickedness, in humility receive the wordimplanted, which isable to save your souls.

22But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merelyhearers who delude themselves.

23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like

    a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;

24for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has

immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.

25But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of

liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an

effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does . (Jam1:14-25NAS).

down My field; They have made My pleasant field A desolate

    wilderness.

For a sword of the LORD is devouring From one end of the land

even to the other; There is no peace for anyone.

13"They have sown wheat and have reaped thorns, They have

strained themselves to no profit. But be ashamed of your harvest

Because of the fierce anger of the LORD." (Jer12:10-13NAS)

Read the book of Jeremiah, Lamentations, and Ezekiel, all which exclaim

the sorrow and pain brought on by a chosen royal people who threw their

eternal heritage away because of a lack of humility, because of a lack of

honesty, because of a refusal to be accountable. This, I submit to you is

what we witness in the sin of the Golden Calf back in Ki-Tisa.

3"Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up

in your midst, because you are an obstinate people, lest I destroy you

    on the way."

4When the people heard this sad word, they went intomourning

, and none of them put on hisornaments

.5For the LORD had said to Moses, "Say to the sons of Israel, 'You

are an obstinate people; should I go up in your midst for one moment,

I would destroy you. Now therefore, put off your ornamentsfromyou, that I may know what I will do with you.'"

6So the sons of Israel stripped themselves of their

    ornamentsfrom Mount Horeb onward.(Exo33:3-6NAS)

    C) ( ABL)ac:Flow co:Stream ab:?: A flowing of tears. This is the same word we see being used to describe the Land of Israel in

Jeremiah 12:11 after being laid waste, it says the actual landmourned.

The land is part of YHVHs creationand He chose that specific portion of

earth to specifically rest His presence upon. When Israel rebelled and

defiled themselves with all manner of pagan customs and uncleanness and

sin, it defiled the land also, and it mourned the absence of YHVHs

Shekinah Glory as His presence lifted up and left Yerushalayim.

    19

    The creation waits eagerly for the sons of God to be revealed;

    20

for the creation was made subject to frustration- not willingly, but

because of the one who subjected it. But it was given a reliable hope

21that it too would be set free from its bondage to decay and

would enjoy the freedom accompanying the glory that God's children

    will have.

22We know that until now, the whole creation has been groaning

as with the pains of childbirth; 23and not only it, but we ourselves,

who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we continue

waiting eagerly to be made sons- that is, to have our whole bodies

    redeemed and set free. (Rom8:19-

    23CJB)

The word for Ornaments used three times

in Ki-Tisa, Exodus chapter 33 is the word

adi. If you notice the 2-letter root word comprised

there of the Ayin and the Dalet means To See TheDoor, and also means a Witness. The

ornaments, or Adi worn by Israel was a

Witness of YHVHs deliverance of Israel

dreaded them and saw them as they now truly were, YHVHs special chosen

we see in the paleo Hebrew the word for ornament reveals the following:

that we dare not stray away from His appointed timeline, as this

ultimately will liken us to an anti-messiah spirit.

So, what were trying to establish here is a clearer understanding of the

relationship the people have with Moses and YHVH. The Gold, Silver and

Jewelry used in the construction of the Mishkan came from Egypt, and it

was a witness to The nation of Israel of YHVHs deliverance, redemption

and protection; every time they saw the purple, blue and scarlet yarn

knitted within the curtains of the Mishkan, everytime they saw the

Menorah, everytime they saw the Altar of Sacrifice, the Copper Laver, these

things were all very real reminders of the victory achieved by walking inhumble faith to the Elohim of Yisrael. And so when they were told to take

off their ornamentsthey mourned. The tears flowed because now they

realized all their moaning, all their ego, all their mumbling, and

entertaining things outside the protective covering of GOD had become the

very thing that would bring judgment back upon them.

He says to Israel, Look what youve done! I am your husband, I am your

father, I am your redeemer, when everyone else wants to defile you and

reach in do you harm, I AM the ONE who protects you and loves. I descendupon you and bring my Shekinah glory into your houseno one else! Just

you! And you alone! & what have you done?

It breaks my heartbut in truth, thats actually a blessing, because Godly

Sorrow works a repentance for which we dont have to regret, because

repentance brings reconciliationand the Restoration of All Things!

And so this is where we begin with this weeks parashaVayyakhel, or

And He Assembled.YHVH has just restored fellowship to Israel, much to Moses credit as

he pleaded with YHVH to lead them all as we read in Ki-Tisa YHVH was

content to destroy the people, & then taking and making from out of Moses

a Great Nation. (Exo. 32:9-13) And we read how since Israel had defiled the

campand the land, Moses was required to erect a temporary tent of

meeting outside the main camp, and when he went into the tent to meet

with YHVH, the Cloud of His presence would descend upon the doorway to

the tent and all the men from each tribe would stand outside their tent door

and when they saw the Cloud of His presence they would prostrate

themselves and worship Adonai. These people had been disciplined, and

humbled, but they had also been restored, and they knew that they had to

keep low, in order to be under the protection of YHVHand to be

    surrounded with His presencelisten

We walk by faith, not by sod-level goose-bumps, but is it safe to say thatGOD does provide a tangible, palpable recognition of His presence when we

worship in the right frame of heart? Absolutelyhow much more were our

ancestors amazed and awed as they prostrated themselves when the

Shekinah GLORY descended upon the Tabernacle at the completion of its

construction, upon the Ark of Testimony from between the two golden

keruvim above the Mercy Seat who is symbolic of Messiah Yeshua? Make

no mistake, our ancestors experienced His presence in ways and fullness we

    can only dream!

So, the ox is out of the ditch, were back on track, and to begin this portion

the first thing YHVH addresses is ShabbatThe Sabbath.

Then Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and

said to them, "These are the things that the LORD has commanded you

    to do.

2"For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall

    have a holyday

Shabbat is a time for us to be

and ups and downs that come with

    being His Set-Apart Holy people,

striving to carve out Holy Space in an Unholy place! And as we check our

hearts throughout the week we tend to find the plaque build-up of

uncleanness, that grimy gritty dirty things that seek to find entry into our

hearts to contaminate the Testimony of Yeshua in the Ark of Heart. And so

Shabbat is a special time of refreshing that we can come together and hear,

or Shema His Torah, receive His easy Yoke, and His easy burden, and

experience Life the way He intends all of us to; because Shabbat is actually

symbolic of the millennial reign of Messiah.

The time Yeshua comes back and establishes His kingdom, for the

1000 years, that period of time is going to be one long Sabbath, and therewe will worship Him and rest from all our labors, and not have to worry

about being on guard from those things that would like to prey upon us

from within and withoutwe will be free from all of those things and will

be refreshed in His presence Daily!

But more importantly, Shabbat is a special time YHVH affords man to

press in to the presence of YHVH, much like Moses did when he ascended

the mountain to be in His presence. Pictographically, Shabbat is a Shin, a

Bet, and the Tav. Shin means press, bite, or pressureBetmeans house, the family inside it, within, or insideand Tav means Mark, Sign,

Covenant, Seal, & Own, as the Tav pictographically looks like a crossSo to

abide and rest in His Shabbat pictographically speaking, is how we

In Exodus 35:3 we read 3"You shall not kindle a fire in any of your

dwellings on the sabbath day." Some points to consider:

  • 8/13/2019 B'midbar Ministries:Vayakhel and He Assembled

    14/23

    Exo.35:1-38:20 1 Kings 7:40-50 Heb.10:25

    13 | P a g e

To kindle on Shabbat is referring to the exercise of energy to

accomplish work for a personal reason. Merriam Websters dictionary

defines Work as toil, labor, employment, a task or job; the energy

used when a force is applied over a given distance, to exert oneself

    physically or mentally.

There are many people who are well-intentioned in this area, some

may claim not enough is being done to set definite boundaries, others

    may see others reacting unrealistically.

The thing I want to encourage everyone to do is to consider the

significance of fire as it was used in the tabernacle:

The Altar of Sacrifice: 12'And the fire on the altar shall bekept burning on it. It shall not go out, but the priest shall burn

wood on it every morning; and he shall lay out the burnt offering

on it, and offer up in smoke the fat portions of the peace offerings

on it. 13'Fire shall be kept burning continually on the altar; it is

    not to go out. (Lev6:12-13NAS)

The Golden Menorah:2"Command the sons of Israel that theybring to you clear oil from beaten olives for the light, to make a

lamp burn continually. 3"Outside the veil of testimony in the tent of

meeting, Aaron shall keep it in order from evening to morning before

the LORD continually; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout

your generations. 4"He shall keep the lamps in order on the pure

gold lampstand before the LORD continually. (Lev24:2-4NAS)

The Altar of Incense:7"And Aaron shall burn fragrant incenseon it; he shall burn it every morning when he trims the lamps. 8

"And when Aaron trims the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense.

There shall be perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your

    generations. (Exo30:7-8NAS)

Each of these furnishings required work in order for fire to be kindled.

Either one of the priests was assigned to gather and prepare the wood used

to keep the fire buring upon the Altar of Sacrifice, or the children of Israel

were required to constantly bring in the pure pounded oil pressed from the

fresh olives to keep the Menorah burning, and the Altar of Incense required

a burning coal from the Altar of Sacrifice. All of these required a kindled

flame, and all required someone to do the work of the service of the

Mishkan to maintain the fire constantly.

So what we need to understand is that YHVH doesnt want us todo

things to maintain the Mishkan on Shabbat. A physical structure first

constructed in the wildernessbut it was a copy of the Real one, already

established in the heavenlies as GOD instructed Moshe. Also, we are theTemple of the Holy Spirit, so Abba is trying to get us to understand that as

He rested from His labor on the 7thday of creation and therefore it was

refreshed, we too are to not depend upon an arm of flesh to bring us relief

on Shabbat, rather to spend our time worshipping The LORD in gratitude

and thankfulness that HE is our provider, our sustainer, our delivererand

that He has created The Sabbath to allow man to be refreshed in His

presence! If we are caught up in doing things for ourselveswe lose sight of

the blessing YHVH desired to bestow on us in the first place! Let us then

    enter in His rest!

    9So there remains a Shabbat-keeping for God's people. 10For the one

who has entered God's rest has also rested from his own works, as

    God did from his. 11Therefore, let us do our best to enter that rest;

so that no one will fall short because of the same kind of

    disobedience. (Heb4:9-11CJB)
